I grew up with John Prine, thanks to my dad. Unfortunately, I lost my Dàd in 2010 so he won't be here to see it but I'm getting married soon and this will be our first dance song. Best love song I've ever heard. Prine was an amazing songwriter.

You should do John Prine’s Paradise. It’s about how a coal company destroyed a beautiful area of the country. The coal company sued Prine over the song & lost because everything he said was true.

I think if you do more John Prine songs you will use the word genius to the point it loses its meaning as something special 😂 . Pretty much all of his work is genius. Also, I think, an unparalleled sustained period of excellence by any singer/songwriter, ever. I really do feel sorry for folks that are missing out on him.

This an adult song sung by adults and it is BEAUTIFUL. Greatest love song not because it tries to put sugar on the lemons but shows the lemons for what they are sour sweet and the colour of the sun. Thanks.

Dude, they are professionals, that’s how they did it! 😂 Seriously, when you get to be an old couple, you can say stuff like this and make each other laugh. My husband and I saw him in concert with Iris on tour for this album. Early in our marriage he had to carry me in the house after we attended a John Prine concert. I might have had a little too much to drink, but he’d never tell. Forty-two years almost that we’ve been married, but we still listen to John Prine and deeply mourned his death.

Bob Dylan is on the record citing John Prine as one of, if not his favorite songwriters of all time. Prine was discovered in the Chicago folk scene in the early 70s and got his big break from Kris Kristofferson. He's one of my musical heroes. Beat throat cancer and even though it drastically changed his voice, he found a way to make it all work to where he's still putting out amazing stuff to this day.

John Prine is a national treasure. This song is such a huge contrast to "Angel From Montgomery" or "Sam Stone" which you have also reacted to. He's the only person I would compare to Isbell in the way as John Mayer described Jason as, "...he exists on a songwriting plane most songwriters only get to visit". I've never heard a song I don't like by Prine A song in tbe same vein as this you should react to is 'Another Like You' by Hayes Carll

One of my favorite Prine songs. You said it... that’s real life, that’s real love. He can write lyrics and songs that perfectly depict real life in sometimes fun and sometimes dark (Sam Stone). Dylan called Prine the best songwriter ever at some point... you know you’re doing something right when Dylan says that about you. Great stuff Don!

i remember the first time i heard this song, i was doing my morning run (i live on long island, ny) and when i ran thru a certain neighborhood, i was able to get a college station (did you think any other station would play this) in Jersey (WFDU Fairleigh Dickinson) that had a country music show that wasn't today's "hick-hop" country. Needless to say this gave me a laugh.

Movie: ‘ Daddy and Them’. I got a late start to J,P, I had heard a couple of his humorous songs on radio, and didn’t like them, particularly the last one you covered. But I made friends with a musician who had played with him in a festival. He thought the world of him, and he played several J.P, songs. I became a big fan, thankfully, because he has such a catalogue of wonderful songs. His latest album is really good. ‘ Summers end is lovely ( Come on Home). He was a handsome dude in his youth, too, which was bonus points.

Spencer Phelps ok. Here goes. This was related to me by Iris at a concert no too long after the song was released. John called Iris to ask if she would sing on a song with him for his next album. She said she heard John’s wife Fiona in the background shouting at her that she better read the lyrics before she agreed! Iris said it didn’t matter to her what it was, she trusted John. Then when he sent her the words/demo/whatever it was she did kind of blush at actually recording it. You should check out Elizabeth Cook and John’s version. Not as good as Iris’, but pure John genius.
