You know, I've never actually seen John Cale play his viola much more than a drone. It's kinda cool

This is brilliant. I love the viola parts by John Cale (haha they spelled his name wrong in the introduction) it really adds something to the song which otherwise would have been quite bland without. Thank you.

Strong influences from Talking Heads - or is it the other way around ?...
@flippikat7 жыл бұрын
Noel Walters there was certainly a lot of cross-pollination going on. John Cale's mid-70s song "Leaving it up to you" was amazingly close to what Talking Heads were doing 5 years later.
@ForARide4 жыл бұрын
In 1976 David Byrne was part of an "All Star lineup" which Cale had set up, also including Lou Reed, Patti Smith, Chris Spedding, Alan Lanier and Mick Ronson. The gig was announced "John Cale & Friends" and took place at The Ocean Club in NY, 21.07.1976 Here's the link.kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmeUdoqJeM6pjJY Also Jerry Harrison was formerly part of Jonathan Richman's Modern Lovers, which Cale had produced in 1972. John Cale has had such a huge influence on so many bands and artists, it still beggars belief, that this amazing musician is still fairly unknown and so massively underrated.

Poor John Cale. How was he to know that the most embarrassing moments of his career (read: the early to mid-eighties) would be the most easily accessible to the average person via the internet.
@ellie-tk4jy Жыл бұрын
not embarrassing though only to him. i think he comes off like a great performer.
@daisywrabbit Жыл бұрын
Embarrassing because he’s literally playing second fiddle to the man who cucked him?
