People who are so despondent that suicide seems the only way to escape the pain are not thinking clearly. They often feel as if they are doing their loved ones a favor. It is not rational but they are not capable of rational thinking at that moment. God bless this man.

I also lost my grandpa to suicide and I also never met him. But the pain it has brought to our family is still very much visible. It's really hard and I forgive him, but this was back in the 60s when this topic was very taboo, YOU can get a lot of help now! go for it!

As a Crises Intervention Team (CIT) officer, I appreciate the efforts Kevin is making in sharing his experiences, and admonitions in becoming educated in the prevention of suicide. The net he spoke of will help with the bridge, but, more training should be afforded to as many emergency responders as possible around the Nation to broaden prevention efforts.

Training should be given in high school for everyone to look for signs and the crisis prevention number be as common as 911.

Well done mate good work. I was standing on London bridge yesterday here in the UK thinking about it. I am going back today. I am 68 I have been thinking of suicide for so long I am just tired of thinking about it. I don't think I have the guts though. I remember a girl I talked to about ,45 years ago she said she would commit suicide but she was frightened she may miss something good if she did so. That sort of mad logic has kept me going for all these years but I am just so weary now.

What people don’t understand about suicide is that it’s personal to that one person. Sure it affects others around that person if it happens, but it is not about them! It should be everyone’s right to make their own decision about THEIR OWN life without having to be locked up in psych wards. It has to do with that person and not those around them. It’s a very sensitive and PERSONAL topic and what gets me is when people say “mental health should be normalized” and is being compared to flu (“you don’t feel bad talking about flu, so why should you feel bad talking about mental health?). We also need to rename “mental health” because it’s derogatory and inaccurate. I’m so very disappointed that our common sense became so bad that we think that comparing sore throat to psychological struggles is OK! I don’t care if people know I have a sore throat. I do mind if my manager is woke and forcing team “check ins” about our “mental health” in front of all the colleagues - which by the way I don’t give a damn to begin with. Why should I share my soul with them?!?! The world is just darn unbelievable. Having said that, what this man does is admirable.

I lost my great uncle to suicide in my childhood he was in his 90s and hung himself in his garage when my great aunt came home from the store she found him what a cruel thing to do to another person that loves you, and you’ve been married to most of your life
