So thanks for watching until the end! I wish you good luck in putting the insights and tips into practice. Sometimes it will work and will give you a sense of peace and victory over yourself. At other times it will be less easy and frustrating. That's okay. Then be gentle with yourself and most of all be proud of the progress you are making. I encourage you! You don't need to feel more value then that of a plant or bug, since you are equally mortal. So if you follow that advise of pretending to be of a value that in the end is priced gently, you will only build up irritation over how you didn't kick back at the bullies or the burglars or the whatever who were illtempered or cynical etc. Utopianism usually fails in the long run. A better "strategy" is to realize that all others are the only ones they could be, at the only time they could be so and so, but that works for those who are arrogant enough to stand firm. If you are a more idealized buddhist monk or a Jesus-like type then others in your patience but have faith in others, then this means that the point of you being more self-controlled is a charade, a paper wall. If you walk into more risk to your mental wall, that helps you to build strength, if that is your purpose, so there I agree with the speaker. This has nothing to do with any value though. People who are treated very badly might need to hear that they are valuable. In reality none are however more valuable than others, so there comes a time sooner or later to realize that. The best strategy is to act as if you are facing death any time, and to be arrogant. If you want to help others, give them something extra for example. Or teach them to be cocky.

He really didnt take it personally, in presenting to such a Dull audience. Bravo sir, you proved your point
@frederikimbo87672 жыл бұрын
Hi Mickey! The audience was rather quiet indeed. That is because hardly any sound was recorded from the reactions in the room. As a result, some reactions were added afterwards in the editing. The silent audience makes many suspect that they didn't find it interesting ... And you know, that's possible. Or they didn't like my style, or they were tired, or... or... Anyway; whatever the reason was, luckily I didn't take that personally :-)
@FBarbarian2 жыл бұрын
@Principle At first I took it personally on the behalf of the presenter haha. "Why is the audience so quiet? Why are they there if they are not interested in what he has to say" was what I immediately thought. Then I thought that maybe the audio engineer set up the gig so you can mostly hear the presenter and not have any noise from the crowd which might explain why we don't hear them as much on the video. Regardless - a great presentation and huge thanks to Frederik Imbo for the life lesson!
@kylesmith45722 жыл бұрын
If an audience is very quiet during a presentation (especially a thoughtful one), I normally take it as a sign that they are engaged and thinking. But I couldn't see the amount of smartphones out, and zombies on their phones can be quite irritating/distracting.

Some notes: -Reasons we talk things personally is because of ego and the desire to be right. -Solutions: 1) It's not about me. Look at WE. What's their intention. understand where they are coming from . For example, they want to be right, maybe they have a call they have been waiting for. 2)- deal with your negative beliefs. We take things personally because we know there is some truth in it. Big chance this is rooted in your childhood. So give yourself some empathy. 3) By telling people how you feel without blaming others might increase the chance of people taking your feelings into account. Remember whatever others do, you will always keep your value.

@rebekahcodlinart3 жыл бұрын
I disagree. This entire strategy is built on a not so healthy desire for everyone's approval. Convincing yourself that your friend is actually txting someone extremely important like their boss, or convincing yourself that they are just txting a random other friend who you don't think is that interesting, results in the same thing, allowing your self esteem to be based on other peoples reactions to you. And so you live in la la land about the whole thing, the point is that you dont actually know who they are txting, you personally wouldn't do that while hanging with a friend over coffee, but they have decided to be rude, and who cares, because your self esteem and happiness is no actually based on other peoples reactions to you. You don't actually need to be that interesting to friends in order to get what you need in life. Now in saying this, other peoples reactions tell us where we stand in society, what power we have in getting what we want or need from someone, and they tell us if there is a threat. So we need to acknowledge these things but at the same time find a different source for our peace of mind about life and our safety and prosperity in general.

Oka Ruto that’s just how u feel but in reality, nobody cares as much as u think they do.(attention wise. Nobody pays as much attention to u as u think) u might think that whenever someone hears a new rumour about u, that’s all they’re thinking about all day but really, it enters their brain and escapes their attention the next minute. Coz realistically, when u hear something bad or scandalous about someone, do u think about it all day? No. Coz ur ego is trained to always be thinking about itself, not someone that probably has no significance in ur life. And ur ego is also why u think everyone’s always thinking bad stuff about u or looking at u. Ur not the center of attention, no one is. For example, when ur in the hallways, are u looking and examining every person walking by? No, u glance at possibly everyone. Ur attention is never on any one person but everyone. And it’s not true attention either that requires focus. When u realize this truth, you’ll have more peace of mind. Hope that made sense and helped ☺️

@@okaruto6128 What happens then if everyone feels like they're the main character? Your story of being bullied and being the talk of the hallways has been replayed by other teenagers millions of times over. What should be important is who you are outside of other people's opinions. Who are you to this universe, besides a blip of intelligence in an infinite timeline of space? The broadest answer is you are Nothing, besides the Great Something. Find out what that means to you and every person becomes a main character.
@antonioabarquez55984 жыл бұрын
@@Daciastyles Here's something for you to try out. When you're in the hallways surrounded but the hustle and bustle of the lively adolescence around you, become as present as possible. A quick way to do this is the try and feel the inside of your palms and count to 5, but feel within your heart, the space between the numbers. Feel the energy around you and find joy in the life around you. Let out a giggle or simply smile, people will notice the strong positive vibes coming from you. You will almost always pass the vibe check 😁

@@TheNaishproductions-tn3yb Not all families talk about things like that, and not every child has parents. I think it would be a good idea to teach children about that in school. It seems to be a key to communication. We need people who can communicate well because we invest a lot to teach people one subject well at university, so they can be experts to benefit our society. But what if they can not communicate and listen to the knowledge of others because their ego gets in the way, or they don‘t share their knowledge because others told them to shut up. Communication ist key, only then we can network and use the knowledge as a society. It is very important to take different perspectives into consideration and not play devils advocate all the time when it comes to complex questions of our time, like the future of our economic system. Would’t it be helpful to be able to learn from each other instead of feeling lectured, to be criticized and still feel motivated? One of my bad habits is that I take things very personally. I know this isn’t good; if someone doesn’t reply with the same energy when I ask a question, I feel affected. I’m working on it, and, insha’Allah, I will improve myself. Another issue I’ve identified is that I give too much attention to everyone I talk to. I talk a lot, am easily convinced by others, and am always ready to help. As a result, I sometimes lose my value in their eyes. I’ve learned that it’s important to first respect and value yourself. By doing this, you won’t need others’ support to survive in the world. Love yourself first and don’t take things personally.

@frederikimbo2 жыл бұрын
@@sangto5385 There are two things. Seeing the positive intention behind someone's behavior is the strategy to no longer taking things personally. This does not mean that you have to passively agree with what they do. Thus the second things is how you react on this. Speak up and let the other one know what you feel and need. Do this out of the intention to connect with the other and not out of the intention of wanting tot punish the other one.

Careful there, you may end up being a " doormat " to people. It's nice and okay to be considerate but be aware of people wanting to take advantage of your kindness. Some people are just bad do the bone and don't seek change no matter how much good you're trying to see in them. You might die trying.

*Summary: * Whenever you are talking to someone if the person walks away many people will take that personally and feel hurt. It hurts our ego. The speaker gives two strategies to not take things personally: 1) It isn't about me: If a speaker is hurt by someone using a smartphone during the presentation, then it might not be about him- the topic might not interest the listener or he might have received an important text or he might be taking notes. When a child is denied something and wails and says 'I hate you', we don't take it personally because we know that it is the child's anger speaking. Look at the other person's intention. Seeing the positive intention of the other person takes lot of effort. But this strategy doesn't always work and that's when 2) It is about me: It is about your insecurities. When you are being criticized and you are hurt chances are that it is rooted in your childhood. Give yourself empathy. Speak up for yourself. By opening up without blaming them will increase the chances of them accommodating your needs. People may attack you but you must remember that you will always keep your value. Speaker also appeals to the audience to take thing personally for the next few days and then test out these strategies.

Not familiar. Against tradition. So I won't. 4) usually bad guys attack by those acts. Are angry when they squash things. It's conformity to tough sad negative memory. 5) he's not serious about giving it to anyone in the first place. Oh thank you, at last I'm comfortable again.

To think about it I am a boring person after all and it's my fault. But that isn't the case, as the 2nd strategy said: It is about me, give yourself empathy, and speak up. It showed me that I should assess the problem without ever blaming others. Open up your heart, speak up to the people who ignore you and ask, and break out of your shell. And at the last part of the quote that Mr. Frederik spoke "whatever you do or say, you will always know your worth" and it opened my eyes to so many things, gave my heart peace and a clear state of mind. @@henrique83747 I think the reality is happiness at the end of the day. If he is happy being boring and not learn to many topics than he is speaking his own truth and happiest with less going on in his mind. If he is not happy and wants to learn more and be more interesting... Than he needs to make that a priority for his own happiness ... Not for anyone else. People want to be around happy people... Not necessarily know-it-all people. Its their happiness they are attracted to... Not factual information.

Hey, this video is really inspiring. I must say I was never good enough for my mother, to any tiny thing I did there was some fault, rarely did I receive a compliment. To top it off mother's relations are of all same manner, except a very few. I try my level best to keep my distance from them, since school I was second in class, was been compared to my best friend who went to same classes, who was class first. I made to university, and graduated and now relations compare my salary with their own children's salaries. I don't care what they say, I cared as long as I had allocated a place for them as people who are mine, but know they are strangers, when strangers scold or laugh at you, we feel less. I m happy in my life for who I m and if people cant tolerate me, I don't mind them distancing themselves from me. Life is short, best live it happy, than live life as to abid by someone else's say. When I ask my mother why she scold me, its too make me a perfect person, and prevent me from getting scolded by society. I love my mother, she has done so much for me yet in morning I try to keep my distance, and prevent from getting into a heated argument, and spoiling the day, and a chain of anger cycles that revolve.

@@frederikimbo Hi Very nice to hear your presentation. How much ever I work. . My client is not happy with my deliverables. . She say I am not capable. Irresponsible. . Not enough. . Not dedicated. She says easily she can replace me. . . She is a nightmare to me. . . What should I do???
@akunog36653 жыл бұрын
@@nayanakkrishnamurthy8036 That is awful. I would work to replace her, and create distance so I never have to be subjected to such viciousness. Although, replacing a client is sometimes impossible, I understand. If you can't get away from the situation, realize that she has not replaced you. Perhaps she is just mad about something separate, and taking it out on you since you are an easier target than what ever else she is avoiding. It sounds like your client has some control issues, usually people just let these type of people live in their control bubbles because confronting them is generally not worth it in the short term. Create an illusion of control for them, and learn not to take what they are saying personally.. it's like a game, make them feel the way they want to feel and live your life normally otherwise. We all wish people like your client didn't exist.. but they do. We need to work on our social skills as humanity, and confronting people like this in the right way can help, but done incorrectly, or just unluckily, can lead to making the problem even worse as you become the primary target and focus of the viciousness. This being said, in a more ideal society it would be very beneficial to confront people like this. If every time your client behaved the way you described she didn't get what she wanted she would not have learned this behavior in the first place. But once someone is using this pattern to live their life it's hard to change, and usually not successful unless performed with lots of love, patience, and persistence. If your family member is acting like your client I would work with them and try to help them over it, but if it's just some client.. it's generally best to play pretend and wait till they die of old age. It's a double edged sword. The best thing to do for your immediate sanity is to play pretend and try to placate your client, but the best thing for overall society is to somehow enlighten your client on the pathology of her own personality (very hard task and will likely result in her ejecting you from her life asap).

I see you my friend. Thank you for sharing it here. It happened to me when I was teenager and later on too. I had deep trust issues but I can tell you now being on the other side - it gets better the older you get. Learn about nonviolent communication, I also recommend a short guide to process intense emotions "What's making you angry". It can transform your state within minutes (it's unreal and I'm not paid to say it). Absolutely changed my life for better. So much peace and no more abuse. These books teach you how to deal with unaware people. They usually don't realise they are hurting others and you as a more aware human can totally change your life (and maybe theirs one day). Keep going my friend, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's enough for everyone 🙏

very inspring to me as somenoe who always overthinks and takes things way too personally. watching this vid taught me a lesson about not prioritizing my feelings over the actual facts when things trigger my nerves.

"Not to take things personally" is the most difficult and valuable lesson to learn in life. When we feel we are able to do that at least in some situations during a day, it feels so good... That requires training and we aren't never prepared enough. Continuous training....

This might be one of the most resonating and truly honest videos for people who do take things personally, I felt like I was just read out of a book but come to find out we are all humans and similar in one way or another, thank you for this video, eliminating ego is very key

Narcissistic people like to bring others down because they can’t handle their own problems and are afraid to comfort them and deal them. Sadly that’s a massive issue in society
