I have a bit of a retro mic attraction and picked up the 5 Core a while back. I knew it would look great on camera, but I didn't expect it to sound good. It's actually pretty decent and I enjoy using it in my rotation.

That was really nice of them! Great color mic. They did good! I wanted the chome/blue one however it does not appear as an option at this time. Not "sure" if they removed it for legal reasons or ??? I did get the chrome/red which I also wanted. It went on sale for $33.99 ... so basically $34... LOL... I figured that was a bargain. I want the Shure Super 55 in Chrome Blue but don't really need it. I just really like it. Hard for me to spend that kind of money on something like that as "eye candy" at this point. I need to be saving those dollars for the LS-208. Actually there are lots of other things I need before getting one of those. Congrats on the gift and thanks for sharing.

Mike that 5 Core sounds great on your voice with no processing, I would fly ala natural with that one. Now all you need is another red one and then 2 of the Memphis Blues and you could run your own Sith Guard Podcast or your own version of the Johnny Carson show interview style. 👍👍👍👊

Awesome of those two cool blokes to send you this equally cool mic! I really like this mic and got on in black with blue foam, completely inspired by Kevin and Clay's videos on it. The price is insane for something that actually has good build and audio quality. To me your voice sounds different, not necessarily worse, on the 5 Core, and might actually have a little bit of a "retro" quality to the sound. It gets a little fuller when you get closer (eat that mic, eat that mic!). I made one of my videos with the 5 Core and to me it sounds just (fi)fine. Gotta hook it back up for another new video soon!
