Lol y’all literally just repeat what Russ said over and over again, word by word. We get it. Although I used to think the same, but the stats don’t lie. Beverly does make a very good impact on defense. Its true he definitely gets carried away sometimes and starts getting called for fouls constantly, but when he feels like he has nothing to prove and just defends straight up, he’s a solid piece. Especially when he’s hitting 3s really well and handling the ball while staying out of the way.

c m Another false narrative. Look at the numbers of when Rudy was on the floor versus off. The team sucked when he was off. That was their problem. Sure Rudy gets beaten from time to time. He’s persistent and goes after every possible deflection he can when most guys wimp out. But his numbers of changing the shot charts of teams is what makes him great.

@RossLambert8014 жыл бұрын
Diego Lopez I’m not suggesting Gobert didn’t get burned more than a few times in their series. The reality is they were still better with Gobert on the floor. The Rockets taking contested two pointers and floaters was still a better shot than allowing Harden to jack 3’s. And Harden getting into the lane so easily is not Rudy’s fault. That’s poor defense by whomever was covering Harden. Look at the numbers, the defense has never been the problem in the games against the Rockets. It’s the Jazz offense that has been lacking.

This is the type of conversation that in any field talks about what actually goes into what you don't know even when you are watching. In order to make something happen, to the viewer it looks very simple, but to a professional, alot of particular details goes into it. If you watch basketball, you may think........shoot the ball, pass the ball, dunk the ball. Those are the obvious, but if you know basketball, then you know what they mean when they say "X out to the corner" now what simple common viewer would know what that means or "1-3-1 vs man", that is professional talk.........and I love that, because it now makes me understand exactly what I am watching.

@paquinraino81802 жыл бұрын
that partially false, because if that was the case historically defensive teams like Pacers, Grizzlies or Jazz would have won at least 1 title and Knicks would have won more titles. @urbanesportsreport514 жыл бұрын
@@jordanpettway5236 Two points. First, just because Ben Simmons made All Defense as a guard it doesn't mean that he qualifies based on his defense solely against guards. He regularly guards 1-4 at an elite level which played a major role in him being selected. (Sidenote: Voting was based off pre-pandemic so TJ Ward lighting him up is irrelevant 😂). Secondly, having a height advantage rarely translates into a decisive advantage when it comes to perimeter defense. That's more so a constant advantage for rim protectors when defending the paint specifically. Taller guys generally have a more difficult time guarding smaller ball handlers off the dribble and through screens because the offensive player usually has the speed advantage and can weave thru cracks. Most 6'10 guys struggle trying to defend guards on just a few possessions. Ben Simmons guarded those type of players much more frequently and was far more successful.

Not really a big Durant fan however I gained some more respect and appreciation for his basketball IQ. Never have I took anything from his game, just think at times he gets too wrapped up and emotional with fans and off the court banter. I usually don't watch his interviews but this one was great. Shout out to JJ and staff and KD.

@@EHelm07 They do but I don't know if the Nets would comply assuming the Pelicans would ask for a lot. Jrue Holiday isn't a free agent until 2022, so they won't have to worry about selling him cheap just to get something in return. I would love to see him with the Nets though, that's actually a perfect fit for him.

I'm sure JJ and Tommy probably won't see this comment--at this point this clip is a year old--but the points made about how much of sports media lack an understanding of basketball concepts are exactly why we need more NBA content like this: players talking to players about basketball. There is no promotional material, this is not a hype machine, nobody is pushing an agenda or endorsing controversy for the sake of ratings or views or advertiser dollars. Traditional broadcast analysis is tainted by an apathy towards knowledge and understanding of the game. There is no program on ESPN that cares if their audience knows more having watched it. I love this channel; it has totally enhanced my experience of NBA basketball. I hope it lives forever.

he gets so many dpoy votes because he runs up the blocks and anchors a top defense this is why people actually gotta watch the games, anybody who’s actually watched jazz games would know rudy’s defense is both overrated, and exploitable, and that’s why he’s sitting in his living room right now

I watch every Jazz game. He is the best defender in the league period. Every advanced number shows it. His plus minus is ridiculous. He is the best Isolation defender on the jazz. His wing span helps him guard 2 people at once, he moves his feet incredibly well for his size. He is a great help side defender. He has a quick second jump to affect plays. Pretty much every other jazz player on the roster was terrible defensively, they traded offense for defense. Since the Clarkson trade Utah had the #1 offense in the league. Gobert was trying to guard everyone and that got them to 15th in the league defensively, no other player in the league can do that.

I just paused the video at 1:11 before he even started his arguement about why Jrue is a great defender KD started off with saying something that is 100% fact alot of people dont even know what defense is......defense is alot more then stealing the ball and getting blocks, great defenders dont rely on steals and blocks to consider them playing well on D the greats take pride in shimmying right and left getting right in their mans face and blocking their vision making the ball handler retreat backwards and letting them think i aint gonna get past this guy ill just pass it to someone else you play great D you dont have to worry about steals and blocks....blocks are called last line of defense for a reason when all else fails blocks are your last stand.
