Going back at this performance and the 2 playoffs since that one, I've only seen one playoff performance as good as this one the last 3 seasons and that was the 55 piece by Dame that same season. I know that people will mention Jokic's 53, Giannis' 50 in game 6 of the Finals, the game 6 Tatum had against the Bucks or the game 4 Steph had in the Finals. None of those were on the level of this one. The difficulty of shots made, the opponent faced, the responsibility on offense and what you had to carry through out the game, I really don't think we've seen anything like this the last 3 postseasons apart from that monster game by Lillard against Denver in game 5.

Buddenholzer's fault! KD played every minute of the game. Nash understood that it was a do or die situation and let his superstar lay it out on the floor. Why is Giannis not allowed to do everything he can to stop KD on the defensive side of the floor is beyond me. When KD got going and the lead vanished, why was there no adjustment to put Giannis on him for a duel? Giannis guarded him for a total of TWO possessions, WTF man. Im sure Giannis would have loved that assignment. PJ Tucker can whacked KD on the head all he wants, that is not stopping KD from shooting over him.

@oo70mar I’ve seen people argue against this by saying that KD would cook Giannis on the perimeter because Giannis doesn’t have the lateral quickness to keep up with him, but I haven’t seen him guard him so I’m not quite sure
@mstump72193 жыл бұрын
@oo70mar Wasn’t even trying to argue but yes. Not that he has absolutely no speed laterally on defense, but not enough to keep up with KD. Plus having a running start driving on offense or using spin moves, euro steps, etc. is different than trying to stick with someone on defense moving backwards or laterally. I agree though, I’d rather see him trying to guard KD than Khris, PJ, or Pat Connaughton, he can’t do worse than them either way. At the same time it should be considered that he’d likely be getting some fouls called against him that are otherwise avoidable.
@mstump72193 жыл бұрын
@oo70mar My point was that moving forwards is always faster than moving to the side or backwards. Even euros, you have speed built up moving forward to step to the side like that. I get where you’re coming from though. And yeah, you expect more from a former DPOY. Just like you expect more from Rudy Gobert, who has been getting exploited in the series against the Clippers. As well, I couldn’t give you hand timed stats but it really wouldn’t surprise me if PJ Tucker could move laterally faster than Giannis since he is 6’5 rather than 6’11. Even if PJ is faster, I agree, I think Giannis could do a better job of containing KD due to his wingspan, size, and strength and I think he should take the challenge. I guess we’ll see tonight how they decide to play it. I hope they put him on KD.

Possibly Giannis will guard him as well. Tucker may get more physical. When that happens KD will need someone who can drop 40-50. Or a couple of guys who can efficiently do that. Which is why it's critical for Harden to get just a little better. Even if it isn't with his defence, just his 3P shooting improving would cause problems for the bucks.
