Can't believe I haven't heard this song until today....truly choked me up. Born in Plano, Grew up in Lucas TX. I've been from Brownsville, to Amarillo; Texarkana, to Marfa. Lived in Houston and all over North Texas. 52 now and loving being in the Country North of Lake Pat Mayse! I would fight and Die for this land that I love.....TEXAS FOREVER!! I miss it, my parents decided to go home to Wisconsin and I had to follow. Even though I was 4 monhts old when we went down to Texas, I consider myself a Texan and my best friend growing up, his parents told me I am as native as he was even though he was born there. I love that state more than any other, nothing like getting lunch at a small town diner and being treated like family!

A few of my ancestors came to North Carolina from Texas and I definitely have Texan in my blood. Seeing the Texas flag and hearing awesome songs about that beautiful state like this one makes me smile. TEXAS FOREVER!

A friend shared this link with me as I'm on the verge of moving from Texas to Florida at age 54. I've lived in Texas my whole life, born in Dallas, spent 28 years in Austin and the past 8 years in Houston. This song really brought out a lot of emotions and made me realize that I'm already homesick even though I won't be hitting the road for South Florida until next week. I am 99% certain that I will be back, hopefully buying a small ranch on the outskirts of Austin in a few years.

I lived in Austin,Texas for a little over 3 years. One of the most welcoming, polite and friendly places I've lived. And, I have lived in quite a few places. I miss many things about it. I have great respect for the politeness and courtesy of the Texas natives. I never felt like an outsider.

My family planted their roots here long before the rio grande was a border. A bunch of Spaniards fought for her in the revolution, again in the civil war, and to this day we are here. 30 years military service. Three back surgeries, shoulder reconstruction, right thumb reconnected, bullet hole in my lower right leg, road side bomb fragments in my arms, neck, and back, and I wonder, was it worth it? Deployment on top of deployment etc. Who was it for? What did I get? Really makes me wonder.
