You perhaps weren't brought up in our education system. When you first enter nursery, you are already taught in English. Any other language is learnt SECONDARILY. Instead of asking someone else to improve on their comprehension skills, maybe you should work on your own because you clearly didn't comprehend what Jimmy kimmel was trying to IMPLY. Singaporean here, the working language in Singapore is ENGLISH. All Singaporeans below the age of 50 speak English, English is actually the teaching medium at school. Ignorance... For your information, it is by compulsory education statute that every Singapore citizen above the age of 6 years has to attend the primary school of 6 years. During the 6 years, we are taught English language, humanities, arts, mathematics and sciences. And we have to pick a second language subject as mother language too, which there is the option of Chinese language, Malay language, or Tamil language. Yes, we study ALL that in 6 years. After that, we will proceed to secondary school for even more subjects (Geography, history, literature, arts, music, etc) for another 4-5 years. And I will say almost all Singapore citizens attend the 10-11 years of education AT LEAST. After that, most (if not all), will continue to study in junior colleague (high school), technical institutes or polytechnic. Of course, we also continue to further our studies to do a bachelor degree, where we have 6 universities in a small country Singapore. Though Singapore may not have the best education system, but I think Singapore citizens are probably one of the most academically educated population around. We don't speak English? You amused us.
