I do have one seed left from the Big Sur skunky Christmas tree indica bud harvest of 1981/82 that I have been saving for posterity. I sure hope that it is viable and female ! I also have many late 1980's seeds from the domestic grown wispy brown Thai bud that was extremely narcoleptic. So much so that just one hit made it hard to hold your eyes lids open(thick lidded, I called it !). I have never had any posterity to hand these down to so I guess it is time that I start to scour the old bank of seeds and see if anything may still be viable ! Peaced.

Bring it back sticky stinky lung expansion Skunk...
@terrymonk93518 ай бұрын
I have smoked since the 70s and have sampled many varieties. I grew a lot of smoke in the corn fields of Ohio and I miss the ass kicking, short season, lung expanding Inde. Large seeds with lighten bolt stripes that produced big buds, it was great, $200 an oz in 1983! But some local guy was growing indoor and had this grape strain that was a one hit wonder and I wish I could find these seeds now that its legal to grow in Ohio. any seed bank recommendations would be appreciated.

I think Nevil was packing around the good Skunk. I managed to get hands on good "ester" seed in 2001, still enjoying the esters today. It "startles" you, when you stick your nose in the bag. lol I am fortunate to have preserved them, I think people get mad when I tell them what I have. Why is that? There still out there in the old seed stock if you can find them today. I was hoping Kevin had found something good by now. I keep coming back to check. lol

To really get back those skunk lines,you will have to find the original landrace-ancestors=colombian,mexican,afghani,thai, that have probably been extinct longer in their original form,than the lost skunk phenotypes.

It's Not just the Old Strain. There were other factors. Soils, the components in the soil in the area Skunk was Created. Manure, The (Secret) type used that helped give the Esters sought after that gave it the Road Kill Skunky Smell (It wasn't a Skunk BTW). Allot of Factors took place and I'm sure based on what I saw, It's Not Happening. So, there will be no way to Replicate what took place creating Skunk. At least for the current thought process and Skill Set. One other thing, Original Skunk had Loose Buds. They weren't Over Trimmed, Over Dried, and weren't Hard as a Rock like today's Grower and Consumer Mentality. These are Just a few of the Dynamics.

1984-85 a strain called SKUNK flooded texas. I saw it in houston athens and lewisville. it was the best weed ever $35 a quarter when all other weed was 5-20$. the seeds were huge with veins all over the seeds. I grew the seeds out and the leaves were very wide and unique. All the plants were stolen by haters so i never havested a plant. does this strain still exist? what would be close to it. I thought this was from the us military returning from afghanistan? any input would help

The flavor and smell of skunk wood is my favorite and one the first strains I had besides the old Mexican brick weed. I was able to get it a few times back In the early 90s but even since legalization I’ve yet to find that same skunk smelling and tasting strain yet. Anyone have any tips? Is it an indica or a sativa or is it a hybrid? The other flavor I can’t find is what we called pine cone bud. It was bright green and had that really piney flavor? Thanks for any tips!
