I would love to revive the original old-school Skunk from the 80s through the mid 90s that I remember...That terpine profile is gone. Skunk doesn't smell near as dank today compared to what I remember. The Terpine Profile REEKED like a skunk that had been hit on the highway mixed with an odor of burned rubber....SO LOUD I haven't came across any new strain today that smells anywhere near as STRONG as the old Skunk was.
@stonersteve63254 жыл бұрын
its gone. I lived in Santa Cruz in the times you are talking about and that smell was everywhere. It lasted for 2-3 years and slowly all got popped. I remember CBS news doing a report on the new "Skunk type of weed that was 10 times stronger than what you tried in the 60s". Same time everyone moved indoor and Dutch seeds started muddying up the genetics. The strains right before Skunk showed up were Acapulco Gold, Columbian gold, Thai, and the new Humboldt green buds that smelled like pine trees and looked like golf balls. My guess is it was somewhere in there.

its called a higher tolerance...this is a common trope in the cannabis industry "weed back in the day was better!"....no, no, no your TOLERANCE made lesser quality weed seem better...i hear goofballs saying "sour D doesnt smell like it did when i was a kid!" well DUH youve smoked weed for 20 years, just like you cant smell cig smoke after smoking cigs for years, you cant smell or taste cannabis nearly as well as you could before smoking it daily for 20 years...weed wasnt stronger, your ability to tolerate weed was weaker

I love when the guy says "Don't breed with cookies Breed with something that's from your heart" Thats to true i very much felt That not everybody has to breed with all these hyped-up cultivars. When they could make something that's way better if they think about the perfect genetics to breed with. A lot of the old-school cultivars have more unique effects, compounds, flavors and properties. But it seems nobody wants to breed with any of them. Anymore it's just been out with the old and in with the new. And a lot of the new stuff these days can't even compare to any of the stuff from the 90s.

We truly had better backwoods urban jungle farmed smoke, grown illegally up here in south East Wisconsin back 25 years ago, then these Illinois dispensaries can provide today? A friend still has the beat down Trinity strain from 1995, a Wiley old timer still has early 1990’s Willies Wonder growing in cycles, and another fellow still runs the original versions of Black Widow and Silver Haze. & yet I really came down here to the comments to tell story of the legend of the Super Mystery Bud, an old buddy should be a recognized somewhere for his magical 4 way cross mishap. This is as good a place as any to spill the beans? A backwoods Wisconsin marijuana moonshiner had 3 different well established odd ball plants, kind of forced on him, after some other grow spot got way too hot. So these 3 plants got crammed into his veg room, sure as ish, eventually all 3 mother plants all went hermaphrodite and ultimately infected his separate glue fire room, as everything in the house crossed up went seedy, instead of just killing off everything and just restarting from scratch, he bought a spray for inducing the plants to fully go to seed, he collected pollen sacs and crushed them up, rubbing the combined dust on his seeded up glue fire plants, creating the seeds that were simply labeled A/B, we were all trimming up a harvest when he handed out to anyone there that wanted some, his experimental seeds, that he referred to as his 4 way cross fuck up, except at first no body in our circle of strict anti seed cloners, really inquired further into the parental mix of strains, no one thought too much, of what could eventually amount to being just seeds of hermaphroditic prone plants, so initially no one thought much of these seeds, and most within our circle regrettably either lost, misplaced, and tossed out these seeds! At least until our buddy, who produced the seeds by pure accident, suddenly died! So a few of us who held onto his seeds germinated and ran them, as as a sort tribute to our buddy that passed away, and wouldn’t you know it, the seeds he procured to us, produced plants 10 times better than anything we ever had experienced in Wisconsin! Where we’ve always run heavy hitter top cutting edge thc content strains like G-13, LSD, Chemy Jones, but there was never enough of this 4 way cross to go around, it was the sold out red hot ticket, heavily traded above market price like a blue chip stocks, even the exclusive dispensary only hipsters pounded our doors down for more! After his passing, no one could collectively remember the 3 other odd ball strains that he’d inadvertently mixed into his glue fire, so it started being referred to as the Super Mystery Bud, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it could win a cannabis award cup, it has to be well above 30%+...8)

I've been way out of the loop for 20 years, but Blueberry was the high end/greatest stuff around back then in Upstate NY. I was a very casual smoker, but for whatever it's worth, that strain blew me away. The only options back in the day I was aware of were; "Mexican Dirt Weed", "NL5", "White Widow" (little hazy on this one, don't think I ever got to try it) and the king - "Blueberry". I'm pretty damn exited for the legal market to start here, so many experiences to come and at least one to revisit for sure.

Irony. Lebanese cultivars have been breeding CBD rich varietals for perhaps 5000 years. Frenchy Cannoli still raves about it 3 decades later.The good stuff is like sunshine in a jar. Low ( 2.5 to 8% THC) & high CBD. But the way it makes you feel is like no others. Columnar structure to suit mass production , drought resistant and nutrient efficient. Yet people ignore it because " it doesn't have the numbers" We in what was once the green state ( South Australia) knew a quater of a century of ago was THC numbers dont even begin to tell the story on subjective potency of effect and WAY more important QUALITY of effect. Looking to the past to create the future direction of cultivation is a smart move. Yet this is but one small part of a massively diverse landrace biodiversity. The problem with the internet is it now becomes a visual thing instead of touch taste & smell as a representation of "quality"

Iv been smokeing heavy for years non stop I didn't lose my tolerance the weed lost something I don't get the red eye effect I used to and I don't get the same ammount of flavor and couch lock... it's all decent weed nowadays and that's a problem to me it's decent and looks better then it is "pretendo" I call it..
