He never did like competion. Watch him ride before his run and he would pull off everything very smooth. He definitely got better with his nerves, but I never heard him say he loved comps in all those years. He had fun innovating and hanging out, competing kinda ruins the fun sometimes. If you see Kevin's debut at Austin it was sight to behold at the time, near perfect run of all unique tricks not seen before that day, for most. He just got better and better.

And along came KJ, the Jimi Hendrix of BMX flatland and all of the superstar hoppy hoppy gimp brigade where put out of business (until 30 years later when there where more quick 'cash ins' to be made from the middle aged 'nostalgia market'...)
