ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

We've seen the coverage leftist media wanted to show already. Tucker preluded showing the footage you don't like by saying that we've all seen the footage of people storming the Capitol and that the new footage he will show doesn't discount the previous, but rather it adds more context. So, I ask you: why are you against having the footage Tucker shows out there for people to see? None of it is fake, so in the sake of truth, why shouldn't we be allowed to see it? Confirmation bias on your part??

This guy resuscitated Monster from irrelevance for political expediency. He deserved to be voted out of Speakership. A politician without principles. Usually I am kind hearted willing to give a failing angel a second chance, but I have no sympathy for him because he knew too well who Trump was and is, still bowing to him. Trump’s political life should be severed after 2020 election. And because of this awful politician we have to face the possibility of Monster’s return. Horrible!

Respected British anthropology professor, Dr. Edward Dutton, has demonstrated that “LEFTISM” is due to genetic mutations caused by poor breeding strategies. 🤡 To put it simply, in recent decades, those persons who exhibit leftist traits such as egalitarianism, feminism, gynocentrism, socialism, multiculturalism, transvestism, homosexuality, perverse morality, and laziness, have been reproducing at rates far exceeding the previous norm, leading to an explosion of insane, narcissistic SOCIOPATHS in (mostly) Western societies.

People make CAREERS out of Trump-slamming, as opposed to bing competent enough to solve pressing issues and NOT being weak enough to lose every debate. Whining and APOLOGIZING when defending democratic and human rights plus being meek in front of the likes of Putin is a sign of normies having replaced the intelligent. That is so true what he said about the opportunities here in America. If you apply yourself and work hard you really can become anything. It might not be what you originally set out to do but the networking and opportunities available everywhere enable a person to bounce around like a pinball acquiring skills and eventually finding a vacuum in the market and make it rich/become successful sometimes in areas totally unexpected. A person might start off wishing to become a biologist which leads him to a farming job which then inspires him to open a restaurant with farm fresh produce which becomes successful which inspires him to open up 2 more stores and before you know it he's a multi-millionaire CEO of a giant chain restaurant selling dishes of farm fresh everything. Then he decides to open up gas stations next to every restaurant so people can get healthfood for lunch and fill the tank at the same time. Now do you see why American culture is so friendly? This happens because we network with one another. Opportunity and prosperity spreads like wildfire. That culture is under attack by crony corporatists who use the long arm of the Government to tilt the tables against the middle class but the model for success has not changed even if alien elements of our society have perverted it.

Kevin, the journey you've described, moving from a family with Democratic beliefs to your current position, speaks volumes about the importance of individual exploration and the development of personal beliefs. It's not just about political allegiance; it's more about understanding the principles that guide you and the impact they have on your actions and decisions. I'd emphasize the value of this kind of self-exploration. It's essential to really delve into your motivations and values to navigate the complexities of politics and ideology. This process demands honesty with oneself, and sometimes, it requires the courage to face the unknown or the uncomfortable. It's about finding what truly aligns with your individual principles. It's also important to be aware of the dangers of polarized thinking. The world often wants to put us in boxes, like Democrat or Republican, but this overlooks the nuanced spectrum of beliefs each person holds. In an era where ideologies are sharply divided, the ability to engage in open dialogue, to listen to different perspectives, and to form opinions based on a mix of personal experiences, critical thinking, and empathy is more crucial than ever. Your journey isn't just a shift in political views. It's part of a larger narrative of personal growth and the search for meaning. It's a continuous process of questioning, learning, and evolving. It's about forging your own path while being mindful of the broader implications of your beliefs on society and the world at large.

People in Republican Party who know Kevin McCarthy well and for a long time all say he’s dumb, an opportunist, and a liar. No one trusted him. No one liked him. Neither republicans or democrats. They said he would tell you whatever suited his purpose at the moment. His only valuable skill is getting lots of money from big money donors in Silicon Valley. He desperately wanted the speakership and sowed seeds of his own destruction to get it. He told donors in 2022 he could control chaos caucus and trump. lol! Trump could have saved his job, he turned on mccarthy because trump thought McCarthy could expunge his impeachment. He expected to get speakership when trump won in 2020. GOP house hated him so much they convinced Pau Ryan run. Ryan did not want job but took it for the team.

You knew, when it took 15 rounds of votes, that you probably wouldn't last long in the seat, yet you stayed. You have no one to blame but yourself. He was fired not for relying on democratic votes, it is because he didn't fight for conservative principles, Republicans control the house, the at the very least, overall federal spending should decrease.

Lincoln was a disastrous President for the Constitution and our Republic. The dilemma occurred after the South seceded. Lincoln said that the South COULDN'T secede, but if that is true, Lincoln violated the Constitution by sending an Army from one State to attack another State. If Lincoln was wrong, and the South COULD secede, then his attack on the South would not be unconstitutional, but he would be a tyrant - using a war of aggression to conquer a neighboring country. Lincoln was either a tyrant or destroyed our Constitution. Either way, the reason why we have all these leftist, socialists ruining our country today is because we didn't let the Democrats secede when they wanted to, and now we are stuck with them.
@thomassenbart
@thomassenbart 6 ай бұрын
Your interpretation is wrong. The dilemma began when South Carolina seceded and began the siege of Fort Sumpter, which prompted Lincoln eventually to send ships with supplies, which in turn began the bombardment and surrender of the fort and that is what caused the Civil War. When a state raises arms against the federal govt., it is in a state of rebellion and the armies mustered and sent south to restore the union were justified. There is nothing unconstitutional at all in this. Washington did the same thing during the Whiskey Rebellion. So, the first part of your analysis is simply false. Given that Lincoln never agreed, nor did the North, that the Southern states could leave the Union, the second assertion you make is also incorrect. The US never recognized the South as a separate country, nor did anyone else. It was 11 states in rebellion. Had 'we' let the south go, it would have been the most catastrophic move in American history and by consequence, world history. Two antagonistic nations side by side vying for the West, trade etc...and likely courted by Europe during their wars, almost certainly would have meant a series of wars between these nations, at a minimum during WWI and or WWII or probably others as well. Such wars would have been far worse than the Civil War and would have devastated the continent. You have not thought through your analysis. Also, the South are no longer Democrats, and their part of the country is growing rapidly, is very dynamic and filled with patriotic, hardworking folk. If you despise the South, you are either ignorant or some kind of ideologue.

Hitler did not hate that his country signed the Treaty of Versailles, he hated the terms of the Treaty and the effects on his country. That Treaty allowed Hitler to rise to power by angering Hitler and Germans and that anger grew over time. It was the US president at that time who pointed out that the Treaty, as drafted, was a bad idea. Unfortunately, he never came back after a break because Americans wanted nothing to do with Europe's war. Putin is not angry because the USSR fell, he's angry because NATO, lead by your crop of American politicians are expanding to absorb Ukraine. It's documented, this has been the clear position taken by Russia, under Putin, for a long time. It is YOU who are causing the problem - the Westernern deep state. A decade or two ago, I would not have able to detect the false equivalence you are presenting. Remember that this is the information age, not 1983. And please don't claim I'm listening to Russian propaganda online.

The ignorance and cognitive dissonance in this post is truly astounding. Congrats. I didn't think it was possible.

@@victormelendez1074The sad thing is, by the standards of the American right, his post was rather reasonable and coherent.

@victormelendez1074 it is more fruitful for you to point out the ignorance and cognitive dissonance. My points are based on fact, not opinion, and are verifiable. Please indicate what it is exactly that is incorrect or illogical in my position. Otherwise, please spare me your typical ad hominem response.

@mattalley4330 like I responded to your colleague, please indicate what exactly is unreasonable and incoherent about what I presented. All that I have said is verifiable in fact and is documented history. What I find really upsetting is the attitude of superiority that you people take out of thin air. Please show how I am wrong with verifiable factual data. Or just quit.

@@fredflintstone5240 First, this is a silly statement and is arguing semantics. "Hitler did not hate that his country signed the Treaty of Versailles, he hated the terms of the Treaty and the effects on his country. " This is nothing more than the chicken or the egg. The end result is Hitler did not like the end result of the treaty which was the dissolution of the German lands, and dividing up that land in separate parts, among other things. "That Treaty allowed Hitler to rise to power by angering Hitler and Germans and that anger grew over time." - The treaty didn't allow this. The zeitgeist in Germany at the time, rampant inflation, high unemployment, the war guilt clause and embarrassment, othering of a scapegoat population (Jews, the November Criminals, intellectuals, etc.) and the desire to "Make Germany Great Again" by reuniting German-speaking peoples were drivers. The treaty didn't allow anything. There was no Treaty affecting Italy and yet, Italians were already on to fascism for similar reasons. Mussolini wanted to restore the Roman Empire. Let's not forget how Hitler treated the press, Lugenpresse (lying press), how Putin treats the press (tosses journalists off buildings), and how Trump treats the press, Fake News. "It was the US president at that time who pointed out that the Treaty, as drafted, was a bad idea. Unfortunately, he never came back after a break because Americans wanted nothing to do with Europe's war." The British economist, John Maynard Keynes, said the terms of the treaty were politically unwise but given that France and England were monetarily in the hole because of their war, they wanted their pound of flesh, like Shylock. "Putin is not angry because the USSR fell, he's angry because NATO, lead by your crop of American politicians are expanding to absorb Ukraine." Putin, in his own words, has said the worst thing to happen to the Russian people was the dissolution of the USSR (sound familiar?). You are wrong and silly. NATO has been since 1945, Putin was born in 1952. You present this info as though NATO was a direct result of Putin. It was put in place to keep Stalin and the Soviets from absorbing more of western Europe. Putin wants to reconstitute the USSR by his own words. he started with Georgia, then Crimea, now Ukraine. Similar to Hitler who started with the Sudetenland, Poland, Austria, etc. Same with Italy who went to Abyssinia, etc. It is literally a one for one facsimile. You have demonstrated your unseriousness with the use of the phrase "deep state." How trite. "A decade or two ago, I would not have able to detect the false equivalence you are presenting. Remember that this is the information age, not 1983." Correct, it is a shame you haven't taken your own advice. Given your name, maybe your level of information comes from the Stone Age...Give Barney my regards. "And please don't claim I'm listening to Russian propaganda online." It seems as though you have been drinking Russian propaganda from a firehose with glee. Your post betrays your intent to support a policy of appeasement. Neville Chamberlain would be proud. Putin is not 1945 Hitler but he most certainly 1938 Hitler. Please don't respond. It is tiresome trying to educate rubes.
