1/3 of the greatest front court ever and arguably the most unappreciated power forward in league history the man with many moves aka Frankenstein on the block was cooking everything on high heat in his torture chamber...Being a life long Celtics fan this guy has a special place in my heart it's an honor to make this video this dude just abusing defenders making them look bonkers his arsenal down low was like Basketball poetry but he wasn't soft he banged with the best i remember Moses and him going at it Legendary! 3 time camp thrived in the big moments Bird had full belief in his ability that speaks volumes only Hakeem or Kareem are in that relm as far as post moves McHale edges them by a hair (IMO)

He was an underrated unstoppable low post scorer and developed a deadly 3 point shot late in his career. Plus he was a top tier shot blocker. Also a clutch free throw shooter.

You can have the best tool in the world, but if you don't know how to use it or what to do with it, it's worthless. Bird knew exactly what kind of tools he had in McHale, Johnson, Parrish, et al. AND he knew how to use each of them.

Olajuwon was easily the better 2-way but Kevin came into the league offensively polished where Hakeem was raw athletic beast. McHale is the more efficient post player and they played in the same league at the same time.

I watched Michael Jordan routinely take 5 steps after he stopped dribbling for 5 or 6 years because the league was so desperate for a superstar to replace Bird and Magic. Now it's guys like LeBron getting away with it so they can have higher scoring games and a superstar to market.
