Only Michael Jordan and Karl Malone scored more points than Mullin from 1988-89 to 1991-92 He's also the fourth highest scoring lefty in NBA history behind David Robinson, Bob Lanier and Gail Goodrich...His name is also all over the Warriors record books, including five All-Star appearances, an All-NBA first team appearance and he was a member of the original Dream Team...Brooklyn's finest is a forgotten killer he is beyond underrated in my book only The Human Highlight Film and Rick Barry are more underappreciated at the SF position in my eyes Mullin was that Dude!

I went to ST. Johns from 90-95. Was anyways in the Gym playing basketball , one day i walk in and Chris Mullin is shooting 3's from about NBA range i asked him if he wanted a rebounder. Well he went 50 for 50 without TOUCHING THE RIM OR BACKBOARD ONCE.. IT WAS LIKE A DREAM BECAUSE IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE , HIS SHOT WAS UNREAL.

@JOSEPH PRATA I'm a HUGE Celtics & Larry Bird fan, but of all the greatest shooters, Chris Mullin had not only the sweetest-looking shot, but I don't think there has been another player in NBA history that seems to swish SO many of his shots (sorry Larry and Steph Curry). When he shot it, they all looked like they were going in.

@@josephjohnroe3678 i believe it. I seen a dude from Charlotte make 20-25 in a row shooting alone and this guy didn't even make NBA. I have no doubt Chris Mullin could make 50 in a row or that some college kid could walk in on him shooting.

Dominique Wilkins was wayyyyy more accomplished by 1992 than him. He was the most underrated. Mullins over Wilkins like Duke, s Christian over Shaq, like Stockton over pistons Isiah thomas where all picked because you didn't want only one white player on the dream team. Only Larry bird deserved to be on the team. He is not white so it doesn't matter (lmbo).
@chrismayor2612
@chrismayor2612 4 жыл бұрын
Kakashi, you do know that Wilkins was injured don’t you? You do know he played a different position as well. Different skill set, not a shooter. Zeke, well we all know, officially now, why he did not go. John Stockton awful point guard, apart from5000 more assists than anyone, 3000 more steals, more games without missing one, always acknowledged by his fellow pros, yeah, he was rubbish. Leitner was acknowledged as the best college player for 2 years, some have him in the conversation for all time. I personally would have loved Zeke, Shaq and Dominique but please, these others, they were great too. Not because they were white, because they could play.
@kakashiuchiha3078
@kakashiuchiha3078 4 жыл бұрын
@@chrismayor2612 politics played a role in it regardless. In 1992 john Stockton hadn't broke any records, zeke was a two time champion and played for a piston team who is the only team to have winning records in the 80,s versus Jordan, magic and bird. Not saying they where trash just saying zeke, Wilkins and Shaq where better at that time especially. Btw Mullin and Wilkins both are small forwards. No hate towards them it's just a political point that you have to have multiple white faces just because. Kinda how Jerry west is the logo and I guess he is the greatest player right. I have no problem being fair but these are the facts. So don't think I'm saying those guys where trash players.

@@chrismayor2612 another thing on zeke. He deserved to go. Jordan and a few others where babies and had an agenda towards the guy. Bunch of haters.
@chrismayor2612
@chrismayor2612 4 жыл бұрын
kakashi uchiha Mullen was switched to small forward, was a hot shooter and a 2 guard originally. Was only 6’7” but compared to Bird because of high IQ. Stockton, pro rata then, was way past anyone on assists and steals and health. Zeke is my personal favourite, because of the smiling assassin, small but so skilled and deadly. Bird’s back had gone, Dominique has done his Achilles. The Politics was to have Magic ( out of the game early due to HIV) and Bird, as joint captains, as they saved and relaunched the league, David Stern wanted to reward them, and knew Magic would be wonderful PR. Jordan was a must, as the new face of the NBA and most iconic player. So that ruled out Zeke, injury did for Nique, and Shaq was not the best player in college at all. He was projected to be the best prospect in the NBA, not the same thing. They had Ewing and Robinson as centres, so no need for Shaq ( he would have demanded game time, would have been no ones rookie, and may well have upset the dynamic is an argument that is often used), Malone and Sir Charles at PF with Larry Legend popping in for a handful of minutes. Who were the shooters? Mullen was the best shooter on the team, scoring second highest points. Scotty could play several positions, Jordan was the 2, followed by Glyde. No doubt political in many ways, but not to Nique or Shaq. As for the logo, no idea why Jerry West. By all accounts a great player, but why not Bill Russell or Wilt for example? I do think it was really run by white people then, and there was terrible racism abounding all over the place, not just the NBA. I love basketball history, but more about players and teams, rather than owners. My secret under rated favourite is Ice. George Girvan, read all you can about him. Something else, but he and DR J and Moses, never really got the acclaim, as all stats are NBA only. Stats don’t tell you the whole story. Hence, Stockton has all the records, some of the most unbreakable anyone could argue, but no one is putting him before Magic or Zeke as a point guard. Same way, Leitner had a decent career, but only reason he is remembered is because Shaq was not picked on the dream team. He was however, rated by everyone, and I mean everyone, as a better college player. Second some say only to Kareem.

I was an ever suffering Warrior's fan looking at this rookie, and I remember seeing him play his first Warriors game, or one of the 1st, and I could tell this guy had understanding of the game. The way he would create from nothing or be in the right place and combine them with hustle. Great shooter. "The Warriors picked up somebody good?", I thought. Because you didn't expect that with Mieuli as the owner. But the team was on the upswing with Richmond and Hardaway. Hmm, Mieuli's doing better.

Seconding what the other guy said, you can definitely make highlights for players. But if you're making highlights, make something that hasn't been made yet. My idea is that you pick one player, pick several quirks he's quite good at but people often forget and compile them. Make sure it's on a relatively old/retired player as newer ones have tons of highlights out there. I'd be seriously stoked if you'd make a Charles Barkley Passing and 3 Pointer's compilation. By the way, are you on reddit? It's easier to send you links there which may help if ever you're working on a certain player's highlight.

The writers don't give Chris Mullin a lot of credit. From the late 80s to the early half of the 90s, he was one of the bests, leader of those Warriors squads, and Magic even praised him for his greatness. Whenever I hear topics like "there hasn't been a great American-born white superstar since Larry Bird", I say no, Chris Mullin was definitely one of the very few. Chris is not an upper-tier of all time greats - but he sure was a deadly shooter, short or long range. It's a shame that he was left off from Top 75, and he'd probably get left off from Top 100.

@@sideshowbobsaget8876 Of the original Dream Team roster other than Laettner, it's only him that's not considered one of the greatest ever, or in Top 75. He'd likely get left out of the 100, but not just Chris, I'd guess players from 80s-90s would not be considered for the 100.

The blue and yellow picture cover .... I see his mouth and cleft-chin but where are his eyes, nose and other facial features? Either Chris had them or he was the best blind basketball player to step on the court.

How can he be underrated when he was selected into the dream team? And also HOF? The only discredit done to him was that he wasn’t in the top 50 greatest players of all time.

Sorry, i am old enough to have lived through Mullin's whole career, seeing it up close from the Bay Area as a Warriors fan. And i'm telling you, Chris Mullin wasn't underrated. If anything, Warriors fans overrate him. I'll start with what was great about Mullin (other than his NY kid roots and way about him, which was universally loved. One of few US born white players that was truly liked by brothers in the league.) Mullin had a sweet jumper. Indeed, no doubt about it. But he was also incredibly smooth with the dribble and a great passer. Great court sense in general, great dude, very smooth offensive game. OK, you know what's coming. Defense. I'll again start with the positive. Mullin's great feel for the game, anticipation and hands led to many tip steals and that kind of thing, which at least somewhat mitigated his otherwise terrible D. And it was terrible. Mullin was really slow, and in small areas also wasn't really quick, if you know what i mean by that basketball wise. He meant well, and tried, and yes, had good court sense and hands, but he was just THAT slow that he hurt his team D being a liability while his one on one D was laughable. He played on bad Warriors teams for the most part, and maybe that and his cool demeanor are why he's seen as underrated. But anyone with THAT bad defense cannot almost by definition be underrated because fans tend to underrate D and overrate offensive players who don't play good D. Trying hard at D doesn't cut it. He meant well but was THAT slow and bad at D.

Jump shots aren't boring. You didn't have to keep replaying the same "spectacular" plays you chose. There were at least 5 per every game (way more) moves Mullin made to get open back in the day that created space where none should have existed.

Starting to realize that all the greatest white players of all time are oddly also the most underrated ... Seems whites being dominant at basketball doesn't fit too well with the NBA narrative.
