Have always said the same of him. Although I love DT up to the point when Mike left, I've always felt if Kev wouldnt have left, they would have had a totally different trajectory. All of the albums with him on them are all my most favorite DT songs. Derek and jordan are great, but I'd trade both for Kev any day of the week!! Side note, super cool to hear the different sample clips used. Would love to know the reasoning behind the changes.

100% agree. I can’t stand Rudess. He has talent and precision for sure, but he is so mechanical and predictable. Moore had such interesting compositions and Sherinian was given a raw deal (especially when you see what he did in Planet X and his solo records).
@IvanoForgione6 жыл бұрын
I always felt like this is the end of (the first phase of) Dream Theater and the beginning of Chroma Key. It's the end credits to Awake and to the relationship between Kevin and the DT guys. Thinking about it this way, this song hurts me thrice (lyrics, music and context). In a good way.

To me, this is, unofficially, the first Chroma Key song, just with James LaBrie’s vocals on the released version. Kevin Moore basically laid out the blueprint for that project with this song (the last track on the Awake album interestingly enough). Just to think that if the band knew KM’s true feelings and intentions about Space Dye-Vest, Mike Portnoy would’ve cut it off the album.

Surprised to find they left this song 100% unchanged in the album version. I always found this song totally inspired and absolutely amazing, to me it's the best song in Awake. It really shows that inspiration always makes a change, even if you are actually doing something minimalist like this short piano riff. Inspiration is always a reflection of God, and you can find it here.
