RIP Jason Molina. Easily one of the greatest songwriters of all time and such a tragic loss.

Why can't people just say "an amazing songwriter"? Do you understand how unreasonable it is for pretty much anyone to identify the greatest songwriter of all time? Have you listened to all the songs, in all the nations, in all the different languages?

@@jameslatin2939 what an incredibly pretentious thing to say .
@jameslatin29392 жыл бұрын
@@Greg_Olinovitch Unnecessary? Definitely. Pedantic? Maybe. But pretentious? No. You should look the word up in the dictionary.
That cover of Farewell Transmission surely found Jason Molina through the static and distance wherever he may be, and streak blood across his beak. Amazing. We still miss you!

I've seen Katie so many times because she seemed to always be the default opener for indie bands when they would come through Philadelphia and she was living here. I've seen her when it was just her and her guitar, I've seen her with her full band as the headliner, I've seen her join other acts on stage as backup and every time I've seen her she's just been amazing.

Farewell Transmission is such a powerful song. And as is often the case on this show, the Tiny Desk version is even better than the recorded version. The recorded version does justice to the original. Here Kevin and Katie don't merely do it justice, they elevate it. Molina's compositions shine in this stripped-down format. I'd love to hear a Tiny Desk version of Dark Don't Hide It.

'Bring it to life' ...poor choice of words. Their version, while lovely in it's tribute, shows how difficult it is to spin those 3 chords into a captivating 7 minute song - which Jason Molina did effortlessly.

She has the charm of a sad cactus - I feel the need to hug her, but wouldn’t dare... - I’d plant her as my last line of defense against zombies on air-balloons. - I loved when she finally smiled 13:56 Either the voice in her head doesn’t tell her good things, or she has more than one; - but then: who hasn’t? I’m projecting too much as usual, and this all says as much about me, as it says about the first impression I had of her. Edit: God, she is beautiful. Can someone make a song out of this? Or is “Sad Cactus” more the name of a band than the name of a song?
