Hes so right about facials and telling a story. I believed wrestling was real longer than I should have because of Shawn Michaels facial expressions and Randy Savage's selling

@@TPaineYang There was a loss of fans well before today's style of wrestling. See: The Invasion Angle (2001), which was a story, in a time full of stories. In WWE, there are still stories - just a matter of their quality. I think it's simplification to think that wrestling style alone is the reason for wrestling's post-AE lull. If you're focusing on indies, then yes, of course there would be less storytelling - no contracts = no certainty of a wrestler being around long enough to finish a storyline. Go to NJPW for the best stories and wrestling in the world.

I’ve never been a huge Kevin Nash fan mainly due to the backstage politic stories and stuff…. But the guy seems really intelligent and he is one of the best story tellers in the game. Thumbs up for sure!

@The_Realm_is_Real Жыл бұрын
You think he's the only one involved in backstage politics? McMahon is king of that.
@FEARSWTOR5 жыл бұрын
When I think back, yeah there were a lot of great camera shots in Shawn Michaels matches. "I'm sorry, I love you", "Stay down!", etc. You don't really think about the coordination that has to go into getting all of that, especially for a live event. Instead it just helps you get lost in the moment.
@ProWrestlingPsychology1014 жыл бұрын
A major part of that comes down on talent. IF we can know the story we're telling in advance, then we can inform crew to know where to be. If I know I have a certain moment in my match that's pertinent to the story, then I better make sure the camera crew and fans have the best way to be able to view so they can understand the story I'm telling.

Hes 1000% right. The memorable matches/moments are from guys that are fantastic performers . Guys who can tell a story and carry the feud into the match. If you have a heated feud and then go out there and just have a great technical match with holds and flips etc. no ones gonna remember it. We want to see the feud in the ring. We wanna see how badly you wanna destroy each other.

anyone who thinks Nash isn't down to earth and chill needs to see these videos. the fact nash would hangout at the CZW training center and shoot the shit with the boys is super cool of him. im sure theres a chance he was paid to be there but still, its CZW and if Nash had a chip on his shoulder he wouldn't be there. He's 1000% right. Today's wrestlers are more athletic and acrobatic. They are way worse at telling a story. Half of them are smiling while getting their ass beat in the ring. It makes no sense. It ruins the belief you are watching a legit battle.

The comment about Foley though. When you're 7 feet tall and have the genetics of Kevin Nash you don't have to do much to get noticed or be considered for a top spot. Foley HAD to do those crazy things to stand out because he wasn't gifted physique-wise.
@ProWrestlingPsychology1014 жыл бұрын
I wish I didn't, but I agree with you... I just wish Foley wouldn't have helped in the popularization of death matches. (I hadn't heard of any of that stuff until Foley was acknowledged with all of it.) But I was young, so I'm sure I would have found it eventually. I feel like his psychology was better than all of the jaw dropping "stunned" moments he had. But he is one of my top 5 favorites, so I accept all of him lmao.
