And, Vince while not physically in the ring at first, lifted all the time, dieted like a maniac, and was awake almost all of the time and stressing to keep the business going. Nash's point does have some validity, as Vince was not pressuring them, that is true. He was also the one with the carrot tied to a string. He DID have something they all want. And, I really, really question that he says he didn't know about this stuff.......
@robk54882 жыл бұрын
You're totally right but at the same time we're talking about the guy who had hulk lie under oath about steroid use. We're talking about a time before all the standards,testing and the wwe wellness program. Vince was fully aware of a lot of the lockeroom drug use and he turned a blind eye to it. But you're right In that Vince's willful ignorance doesn't excuse personal accountability on the part of wrestlers
@moriordan852 жыл бұрын
@@drexlspivey5828 It depends, are you getting high before/during work and not able to do the job to a satisfactory level? Or is it a case like the Kliq? Where they were showing up to work, killing it, being top guys who were really driving the show from 93-96 but were getting messed up AFTER the show? Who cares ? Your boss isn’t gonna fire you if you are showing up to work sober and doing a good job but getting messed up in your free time. If your partying and substance use starts getting in the way of your job performance and the boss is looking the other way while you are also being a detriment to the show that’s when the boss will and should step in or share some of the blame. You can’t say HBK, Kid, Hall or Nash allowed their partying to hinder their job performance in their New Generation WWF run. Post curtain call for HBK, or the Wolfpac’s run in WCW might be a different story... they seemed to get there and not put their job first like previously Probably because they knew in WWF they would be held accountable by Vince whereas WCW might have had Eric Bischoff as its top executive, problem was he was only the top of the power structure for the wrestling not the top of Turner. The buck didn’t stop with him, & everyone knew it. WWF the buck starts and stops with Vince. Vince didn’t have the luxury of pointing up and saying “hey there’s only so much I can do, I’m an independent contractor just like you, the wrestler is” where Vince couldn’t hide behind that. If you think of it logically, there’s no logical argument that it’s Vince’s fault. He didn’t supply it, he didn’t encourage it, he tested against the street drugs, and steroids that had been rampant just a few years prior. What more could he have done? In the 80’s it was roids & coke... so he tested for that, and for the most part got it out of his company. What did the boys do? They did what you’d expect them to do, find ways around the testing, or switch from weed, coke, & roids to pain killers & muscle relaxers that they all had prescribed to them by doctors. and then in the attitude era he pulled back on the steroid testing, A) The heat from the early 90’s steroid scandal had gone away. B) WCW wasn’t testing & they were beating WWF at the time, so they almost had to either make a big deal out of WCW’s transgressions go public that WCW was allowing their guys to juice so you would then have to stay away from any WCW talent that comes available because you’ve just painted them as dirty ( then pray none of your guys pop a test so you don’t look like hypocrites) C) It was a massive cultural issue in ALL of sports and hollywood back in the 97-2007 era across all sports MLB/ NFL in particular--- so to point the finger at Vince & only Vince is absurd. D) athletes across all sports were finding all types of ways to take Performance Enhancing Drugs undetected. HGH started to really blow up. So as usual the rule breakers stayed ahead of the rule makers, and the rule makers could only react to the new ways of breaking of the rules thus forcing them to react and make newer rules ( which Vince did) E) Look at the wrestling industry today... it’s cleaner than ever, all at a time while as a country we are seeing an epidemic of overdoses & drug addiction.! F) most importantly what could or would be a benefit to Vince & his company to allow his guys, the people he’s invested money, tv time, merch and everything else that comes along with being a WWE Superstar to be walking talking drug addicted zombies? What would he gain from that? Now if you wanna say he had something to gain by allowing or encouraging his guys to be Juiced to the Gills, you could make that argument, because wrestling is a body and image driven business, I would agree. But after the heat and pressure put on him after 1991 when steroids became illegal, and he had the US Government on his ass with a federal investigation.... I just don’t see why he would risk it after that. The percentage of people who go against the US government in federal court AND WIN..... it’s under 3% 97% of federal charges end in a conviction or a guilty plea. Vince beat those charges. You don’t beat federal charges when they are gunning for you like they were to him, unless you’re innocent.!

If you accept that Benoit did “ it” (I’m not willing to debate that if you disagree fantastic) its a genuine debate whether he damaged himself like that from the diving headbutt or the drugs and this generation essentially is going to be the Guinea pig for that question because they’re low on the drugs and heavy on the crazy bumps. @GamingWITHsKeLeToR3 жыл бұрын
these guys are all huge, and when you get smashed every night for years, and then start doing drugs along with it, yeah, beer doesnt do fuck all. im not a wrestler, but i know getting fucked up good and proper unfortunately. and even tho i dont even party anymore, i still have to drink like a whole fifth of liquor to get any sort of decent buzz.

20 beers before a buzz? Holy shit, I'm a lightweight who gets one after 2 or 3. Of course, a massive guy like Nash will have a bigger tolerance. Andre the Giant apparently needed even more. He holds the record for most beers consumed in one sitting.

@TRIIGGAVELLI3 жыл бұрын
@Nao Dude if you could drink more than 10 beers and not feel much of anything unless it's non- alcoholic you might have a drinking problem.
@TRIIGGAVELLI3 жыл бұрын
@Nao I personally drink stronger IPAs like an Anti-Hero or Lagunitas. Because for one I love IPAs but secondly they're much stronger so for me only 4 or 5 and I'm feeling good. But generally when I drink it's just Vodka (Tito's preferably) and La Croix. I'm 6'5” 230lbs so I know what you mean by having the body type to be able to absorb more alcohol than the average person. But I try to drink in moderation because at 31 now hangovers are more brutal then they were at 21 lol.

Those Soma’s are not something anybody should mess with AT ALL!! I lived with my best friend and his family for a couple years….everyone in his family was a hardcore addict. Well his aunt came home one night and we didn’t know it, but she took a handful of Soma’s, Benzo’s and a Fifth of Southern Comfort. She’d always pass out on the couch so we thought nothing of it. Turns out she slipped into what is known as a Soma Coma…she never woke back up. She left her oldest child to raise her youngest ones. Please leave the Benzo’s and Somas ALONE!!!!

“It takes twenty beers to get a buzz.” Man, what a tolerance. You’d need a case every time you’d like to get drunk! 2 Millers, and I’m buzzed. 3, I’m drunk.
@Jameslfgsmith2 жыл бұрын
Soma epidemic from late 90’s early 2000’s was terrible. East Texas was filled with pill mills prescribing 240 zanax, 240 loratabs, 240 somas per person as a months supply! And people would still run out early and go see another doctor dispensing the same quantity! I Lost a parent to that. Thank god they cracked down on the mills and what was being prescribed, stripped those “doctors” of their licenses and shut down their “clinics”..
