@@Bradn92 Sorry, what? Giving Scomo a free pass on this immense debt ... "becoz Pandemic"? The context for Rudd's debt (1/5th of the current) was surviving and repairing the damage of the *GFC.* Do you remember how *massive* the impact of the GFC was? The *collapse* of global financial systems. A *worldwide recession/depression.* Immediate decisions weighing up whether to prop up fundamentally broken banking systems or watch the world burn. Luckily our banking regulations (thanks Labor!) and the targeted spending of the Rudd government were able to keep us ticking over while the rest of the globe was having an immediate and urgent *existential crisis.* Even if you were 16yrs old at the time (assuming "92" is 1992), you should be fully aware of this. And obviously the Liberals went to town on his "unwarranted huge debt!!" and "wasteful spending!!" The impacts would have been far, far worse if the Liberals had been allowed to wind back more of the banking regulations and left us open to the full impacts. If anything FJ and Rudd glossed over the GFC and how well it was handled. Meanwhile, most of the negative impacts of the Pandemic, in Australia, have only occurred because Scomo was too busy telling us he was going to keep going to the footy (and do literally nothing else) while Covid took hold. Scomo's own idiocy and inaction is what caused Scomo's Pandemic issues. And he's hidden behind the states and pointed the finger at them, pitted them against each other and played favourites, like a scared little boy, while directly and *unconditionally* funneling *immense amounts of tax-payer's money* to private interests that provably had little to no impact from the Pandemic. This is *peak* incompetence and corruption. As FJ and Rudd go to great pains to point out in this very video, $100+Billion of this debt wasn't government spending on anything tangible or constructive, there's nothing to show for it, it didn't go to keep the public employed or fed - it just went directly to the pockets of the rich business men. But yeah, why not - "poor Scomo becoz Pandemic" What planet are you living on? Did you even listen to the discussion in the video? These guys didn't miss or misrepresent *anything.*

This is such a worry. I am at the coalface - back in a remote community I was in 8 yrs ago - the school was thriving with specialist teachers for sport, music, art, science for the kids - now I can't even find a footy. We have been given $5 a week to budget for our classes - $50 a term - to put some perspective here - a passionfruit costs $1.90! If i want to cook with my class - covers health, Maths, English outcomes & kids love it...I can maybe do it once a term. These are amazing kids who miss out on so much.. I'll spend my own money but honestly $5 per week! Think about this when you think about the rorting & billions of dollars awarded to the Libs mates! I get so incensed - this is Australia, the kids & their families I work with already have the odds against them! And this Bastard Govt's rorting mean so, so many miss out! There is so much more I could (& may yet) share but all I'm saying is honestly, for the love of ALL Aussie children all around our Country - we desperately need to get rid of these Liberal ticks!

People don't seem to realise that the Liberals *plan* for this type of thing. They like the growing divide between classes and probably want to create an ultra-rich wealthy corporate class at the expense of the most vulnerable as well as the middle class. Think of their party as an anti-Robin Hood. Take from the poor and line the pockets of the rich. Just pure corruption, their party is not incompetent, they know exactly what they're doing and they know exactly how to do it, they are cunning, conniving and nefarious, not bumbling idiots which many seem to mistake them for being.

Murdoch is eroding AT LEAST TWO countries' democracies. Fox News has supposedly been toward or at the top viewed spot for US channels for years. Wall Street Journal possibly always had a slant, but I found out Murdoch bought it when I noticed something blatantly unfactual in one of its reporting pieces (I used to rabbit hole news stories - multiple outlets - and track the first outlet, find multiple local articles/videos, and/or a different country's reporting). I mentioned it offhand to someone and they told me he bought it so I looked it up and felt overwhelming dread that he had more mouthpieces. It seems like news from most sources is told in the light most favorable to the ideals of a wealthy benefactor, except SOME local and independent news sources. The US has been here before, but it's been a while since it's been this bad. Now that other media outlets have adopted the same style of reporting as Fox News for ratings, it's just rough. Nothing good happens to a country when one person could buy said country. If you control the press, you can control the people while they pay you. Whether it's an evil master plan, extreme self-interest, boredom - owning multiple media outlets in multiple countries using lies to deliver the same flavor of political propaganda - that should be a greater concern than it is. A politician was relentlessly mocked for saying he was stating "alternative facts" a decade ago. Now, it's popular to have politicians gaslight us when their corruption is out in the open. They feed the public conspiracy theories about the other side instead of admitting fault, and Murdoch's pundits continually shape a political landscape where one side is good and the other is evil on every issue, or overall. It's basically 90%+ politician PR rehab/hit piece media if he owns it. I know both countries are so different, but the parallels in the brazen legacy media lies, with its targeting of independent media, on top of the political circus? In the context of Murdoch's propaganda machine? His media has never really been held responsible for lying about events and people for what seems to be political gain - in multiple countries - by influencing the public, elections, and politicians. It's the age of the Robber Barons again, and the forest keeps voting for axes to chop every last bit of autonomy out of the populace. 😀

A dirty trick conservative parties the world over run on is the 'inefficiency' of public systems such as schools, transport and hospitals. Because public institutions have no fee barrier to entry, anyone can access them which means even those with disadvantages, such as low-income, substance issues etc. In hospitals for example, these people will on average need greater support. On the other hand, private schools and hospitals have a fee barrier which prevents those who need the most support from accessing them, no insurance company will cover someone with low income and a large number of health issues. This means that on average the people using public institutions require more support than those in private care. Conservatives then play the trick of pointing out the disproportionate resource use and say " look at how inefficient public schools and hospitals are! We'd better introduce 'competition' to correct it ;)". If they can gut funding for public institutions at the same time, making everyone but the most desperate and resource needy move to private systems , making even more of a contrast then so much the better. They don't mention that all the 'efficiencies' saved in private systems go to the pocket books of their mates from high school and law school.

That's not to say they shouldn't be able to head up a prosecution through the appropriate court and process. Just that they themselves should not be made as a judge and jury mob as well as a police mob. I'm assuming though that that's what everyone means by "teeth". If it's just about giving the body warranted powers for compelling evidence and statements then yes all the power that can be given should as well as no leash. Let them at every party idc, if there are rats in the ALP I rather an ALP sanctioned and commissioned ICAC ferret those few out with the no doubt shit tonne of Coalition members. I think the key point Rudd fails to mention is that it doesnt matter if your rich or poor if you have a heart attach or stoke at 10pm at night you are going to end up in a public hospital NO IFS OR BUTS and you will be treated in a public hospital. This is why the system is so utterly screwed is that private patients place the same burden on the system when it comes to emergency care. I encourage others to look at their local private emergency departments some even close at 8 or 10pm and most if not all but a select few dont even have the capabilities to perform emergency heart or brain surgery. All the major elite trauma hospitals are all public for a reason!!!!!!!!
