Kevin's Story

Kevin has an incredible story. In March 2015, as he was leaving the gym, Kevin was in a head-on collision which put him in a coma for 2 months. When he woke up in the hospital, he couldn't remember anything - he didn't recognize his family, he had no memories of who he was, he couldn't even speak English which was his native language. In addition to the brain injuries, the doctors told Kevin that the physical injuries were so extensive that he would not be able to walk again.
After more than 50 surgeries, including the majority of his intestines which now come from a pig (he likes to share that part with everyone saying he is part animal, literally!), and extensive physical therapy, not only did Kevin walk again, he was ready to go back to work. Kevin got in touch with employU, and so began the chapter of his journey which led him to Starbucks.
In the video, Kevin's colleagues describe him as "pure joy," "a ray of sunshine," "full of life," and so much more. Kevin is truly charismatic, but what is most inspiring of all is that he just doesn't give up. Kevin's favorite line is "The only thing that gets in the way of doing anything is me. If you want me to do something tell me I can't. That will just make me want to prove you wrong. I proved the doctors wrong. That was fun!"
Put simply - Kevin is an amazing human being.
