Kevin Schwantz Best Video.
Why I put music on this video instead 500cc 2T sound?
"Hello Dany!Sorry it took me so long to write! I have a question for you….. did you put together the video Kevin Schwantz #34 (Best of) I hope you did, because it is one of the most moving, emotional and passionate compilations I have ever seen. Maybe it is the music that goes along with it, but it is SO moving. Is that your music as well???This Saturday Kevin is hosting a group of 20 businessmen from California who have no idea about motorcycle racing or who he is and I thought showing your video for an intro into WHO IS KEVIN SCHWANTZ would be perfect! Now just need to know if you did indeed put it together so that you can send it to me!Let me know at your earliest convenience please!!Look forward to hearing from you,
Marnie."
I was one of the best days of my life ❤

The biggest fights Schwantz fought during his career were... against his own bike xD It's shocking to see most of the other riders coming out of corners quite stable and then Kevin arrives and he looks like he is holding onto a crazy bull!... which isn't completely false! That just shows how legendary of a rider he was! Amazing times and amazing riders, these videos are gems, thanks for sharing such a well crafted movie c:

My name is Kevin, named after this guy. I was born 1996, my dad was a huge moto gp fan, i only got to know that recently. He was a co-pilot in Rally, he drove races on a circuit himself and won some. He then was a mechanic on a Porsche GT3 Cup car for circuit racing. In my young ages i was always on a circuit with him helping on cars. I never really followed MotoGP but when i see this i think i know why he named me after this guy. Never paid much attention to motorcycle racing in the past or why he even named me that. Started following MotoGP from this year. Cant say more than, Kevin Schwantz was probably a legend.

Nice video, these drivers who rode wild engines, without electronic assistance, it was more spectacular and dangerous than today. They were much more unpredictable bikes and their changes every year did not always improve them! At each race there were 6, 7 or 8 potential winners. Kevin Schwantz for me is a fiery and unique driver who managed to supplant his opponents thanks to his will, and also with very big braking! Very good memories. Thank you.

I first watched #34 race in 1982 I think it was, at Sears Point Raceway. He was riding a Yamaha FJ 600 in a WERA endurance race. I don’t remember how he finished, but I remember how much I laughed at his “enthusiasm” on the bike, and how he twisted and tortured that little flexy bike that day. He stood out. And I watched his career from that day onwards. By far, the most entertaining rider of his time. The shit that he got away with was EPIC! I watched him slaughter Wayne Rainey at Sears Point a few years later in the AMA Superbike race, beating him by half a lap, while clowning around and doing wheelies through the esses! (Mikuni used a pic from that race for an ad.) Kevin was a fan favorite, for more than one reason. He was nuts, he had balls, and he had fun.

Those 500 2 strockes were a dream, men using dangerous rockets. Everyone knew they were impossible to ride fast except for the best pilots of the planet. Danger was everywhere. Not to make any mistake , not to destroy the tires. They had to be smooth and fast, sometimes agressive but not too much because danger and tires. Each one waiting for a little mistake of the other. Many times , you looked at you fav pilot , 1 sec later he was out and you said NOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Many times , the races seemed to be long long , what a stress looking at tv but what a pleasure to see. All those pilots were very courageous , running with the necessary fear not to destroy them. And nice to see the respect they had when race was over, just congratuling each other to finish the race even the battle was hard. Thanks to all who were champion and thanks to the one which never had the title (sometimes not the good bike).

I was lucky and privileged to be Suzuki team manager during the Kevin years. As years go by I realise just How lucky I was to be trackside for the greatest ever period of GP racing. Every race contested to the very edge by absolute titans. For me KEVIN was the greatest in an amazing group of Gods, all of whom gave us fans unbelievable racing excitement. This great video shows some amazing skills and determination, not just from Kev ,all without the dreaded driver aids. Of course for me KEVIN’s absolute commitment to winning, practically at all costs, shows clearly why he was and still is the fans favourite. He sucks you in with his enthusiasm and you share his joy at the wins. A true legend. The whole team would have walked through fire with him. The post race win diner celebrations were fantastic and true expression of an amazing teams love for “ their” Kevin. Have just returned from the always incredible Goodwood Festival of Speed, where another great, Steve Parrish , ran Kevin’s RG up the hill. His 34 bike was very much the centre of attention. Even 25 years plus since his Championship win there were dozens of fans in KS t shirts etc. Sign of a true legend May they never be forgotten........as if. THOSE WERE THE DAYS! Garry Taylor

I was a big fan of 500 GP back in the Eighties and Nineties, one endureing memory of Schwants was at a track I can't name and a year I don't remember, but I remember this. It was a left hander and the rear stepped out big time, most would have high sided but Schwants just ripped open the taps and bagged up the rear tyre propelling him foward.I rember the comentators laughing in astonishment and saying "don't try that at home", never been able to find a clip of it.

Fabulous images and congratulations for your editing work. I only regret arriving late to make a comment but it's never too late to do it right. I am 56 years old and I have always loved the bike. I remember as if it was yesterday from the beautiful days of the indomitable 500 two times. In reviewing these images, I immediately plunged back into the good old days. Kevin Schwantz and his inimitable style. Texan big heart has not had a record at the height of his talent and it is a shame. At 2'53 "I immediately recognized his break of anthology at the GP of Germany in 1991. I have seen the trick hundreds of times but I still have the same chills I was in front of my television but the video recorder was still recording lol ... I still have the videotape plus a DVD copy I was hanging on my chair as if my life depended on it lol At 4'10 "we see the victorious arrival for not much Kevin Schwantz in the same race after having engaged in a battle of all the devils with Wayne Rainey in an unforgettable last lap. All the others were far behind, even Eddy Lawson. It's as if there were more than them on the track. In short, I stopped the bike for health reasons but between my first Honda 125 Twin and my last Kawasaki ZX 12 R I had time to go a long way. Anyway, my passion is still intact. Eric, a French fan. .

Many thanks Dany this is an excellent tribute, the footage literally brought tears remembering that era and Revvin Kevin was the lead abuser of physics we all were in awe of. When Mick Doohan (5 titles) was asked who was the fastest rider he ever rode against (Lawson 4 titles, Gardner 1 title, Rainey 3 titles etc etc) he immediately replied, with that sardonic Aussie grin of deep respect: "Kevin Schwantz".

I still like him, for me he was the best. Many people i knew didn't watch the race, they looked at Kevin. He was the pepper and salt of the race!

Kevin Schwanz was the MM93 back then. Together with Wayne Rainey, Eddie Lawson, Mick Doohan is he still one of the best. At timeline 2:54 that was in Hockenheim in the last lap, I guess that was 1991. That happend at the entrance to the Motodrom. Over the whole race Wayne Rainey was leading. The last chance for Kevin to overtook Rainey was there. I was there sitting in Motodrom and everybody screaming, it was AMAZING (goose bumps). Good old days, two-stroke fire and no control electric.

On a 2-stroke without electronic assistance = 3 times higher performance than today's best. Extraordinarily skilled. Like a rodeo rider. True Texan cowboy. Thanks!

Incredible era, you really did have to have skill back then. No electronics, just pure feel and ability to stay upright on two wheels. These 500cc 2 Strokes were vicious animals, and these legends knew how to tame them, well for most of the time that is, until the powerband spat them off. Total respect tothe riders of that era. I salute you all. 🙏✊👏👏👏👏👏

There was no hatred between Schwartz and Rainy only the fiercest competition on earth known to man. Everything else after those years was "just" competition!! I love them both for what they brought to the sport of Grand Prix Racing!!!!!!! Aloha!!
