Everyone says you can't find dogma anywhere, but it's been free on KZbin for years. I made a youtube video about it on my channel, and that's where I got all the clips I used.

I really appreciate that Smith is mindful enough to realize that he was using marijuana as a crutch to fill a void and had to quit... while also still being able to embrace the culture and recognize other people can enjoy it without it being a crutch. That's very much how I am with alcohol. I can't drink because I know I'm an alcoholic and can't control it, but hey... a lot of my friends love to go out to the bars and it can still still be fun! I'll just be getting soda and mocktails when they're having beer and shots, haha.

You do not need to get permission from the artist to sample them. Memes would never have movie quotes if Kevin Smith was correct, he is not. You need to pay for samples and get permission when the audio is ripped from another copyright protected piece of work. And thanks to over litigious labels there is precedent you have to steal the whole song not just one word. So a quote from Dogma is safe because you are not playing the movie in entirety on your song. You could probably find someone to sue. But you will lose.
