I started following you last year, whilst researching FPV. I began with learning to fly on a Simulator with a TBS Tango 2 (something you suggested). I then got myself a BNF Flywoo Explorer LR4 and got to practising in the real world. Multiple crashes, learning to solder, lots of repairs later and I feel like I am now at stage where I can consider my self a "Half Decent Pilot". Recently got myself a Pavo 25 v2 (again one of your recommendations) I'm currently putting myself out to try and find myself some work. To be honest, if it wasn't for your guides I probably wouldn't be where I am today, so thank you for your help and guidance :)

If u don’t yet wanna go the DJI route - buy an ELRS controller, like the radio master TX16s or something cheaper - practice on velocidrone, here you’ll also find out if you even wanna spend more money in FPV - once you feel comfortable flying in the sim, buy a whoop (cheap, durable, small, you can fly anywhere with it) - BetaFPV Air65 (indoors) or Air75 (outdoors) WITH extra canopies and a couple spare bodies (a couple bucks) - some better goggles, like skyzone cobra X - charger, batteries, etc…

Awesome video mate. I've been in the hobby three weeks (with a couple of months on liftoff beforehand) have ended up with a cinelog 20 - elrs - 03 air unit - naked gopro 11 - liftoff. That flow chart was bang on my journey and I would have found it super useful when I started. Awesome stuff man.

I just have flown the DJI Neo FPV for the first time. Really cool toy compared to the very first mavic mini. The leap in technologies is amazing to see. Also the prices are much better today. You get alot more versatile drone for the buck. I kinda want to also get the avata AND build my own DJI Air unit drone.

I have been wanting to start FPV for years; every summer I just didn't have the money or time. This summer, I am going to start. The only problem is that I don't know whether I should go straight to digital or start with analog. At first, I just want to freestyle with smaller drones. Is it possible to buy small 3- or 4-inch drones with the O3 unit?

Hello! I heard that Avata and Neo dont really let you freestyle, as in you get a warning message or something if you try to do anything close to a trick like flips etc.

I do agree that it’s not one to one simulator versus real life but for an all-around racing and everything type game I wouldn’t recommend lift off personally I would go with uncashed, even though it’s not one to one obviously is still a lot better with the physics than lift offthings react a lot better in uncashed and more realistic than lift off, obviously still not as realistic as real life, but just a humble suggestion from a beginner as well

Some important ponts missing here is that the dji fpv controller 3 only work with dji goggle 3, and those do not work with runcam or vista vtx, while dji goggle 2 only works with dji remote control 2, they work with runcam or vista vtx, also avatar 2, dji o4 air unit, but not dji neo yet (which works with goggle 3)...

Thank you for the video and i have a couple questions 1. Could i use a Xbox controller for sim practice and would that still translate somewhat to a drone controller? 2. Is using vr goggles like the meta quest a good idea for the sim is it even compatible?
@ConspiracytardHunter42013 күн бұрын
never tried an x-box controller but its worth trying, steam will refund you if you played under 2 hours of the game, or in this case the sim. the x-box controller, if im not mistaken, has both gimbals on springs that center them, so technically it will feel a bit different since on a proper RC transmitter the left gimbal has no spring on the vertical axis for throttle, but it will teach you the basic controls at least, its better than nothing. as far as the sim experience goes, the only difference between using VR goggles is that the field of view on FPV goggles is usually smaller so you can see the entire 16/9 aspect ratio screen. its not gona be that different, it doesn't really matter tbh, there field of view of some goggles are 50 degrees and others are 44 degrees, it even changes between different brands so. its worth dipping your toes into and trying with what you have to see if you're interested on a sim level at least. good luck!
@SaiyanEuc12 күн бұрын
1. Thats what i did and its fine but it takes a bit to adjust when you get your RC, 2. Totally use the quest if you can with the sim, it will feel like using goggles just dont pin the screen in place, it should move with your head like real goggles would.

I ordered the DJI Controller 3 to start training in the sim. My idea after sim training: Buy Avata 2 bundle (Goggles 3, 3 Batteries, ...) and start flying with this drone as an allrounder. If it gets to slow for my skill and i want more freestyle, i could use my DJI Controller 3 and Goggles 3, buy an DJI O4 Pro unit für an 5" drone. So i would have an drone to learn/train, cinematic, travel, and so on, but also have an 5" freestyle drone and can use for both my googles and remote. Building drones from scratch and study parts and builds, for me and my day routine, is to time intensive. I also thought building an drone from scratch and buying all parts separately would be cheaper, but aktually the DJI Sets are not a bad deal. Does my plan make sense?

I started with the Avata 2, because I just wanted to get up in the air and fly without any hassle. With the included RC motion, I was able to fly and cruise around without ever crashing once. Now I have my fpv rc 3 and have been flying it in manual, after hours in Liftoff. I have spent zero time tinkering with or repairing anything. All of my time has been flying irl or in the sim. I didnt have to research anything, and I love not having to worry about battery management. Also, i love flying for 15 minutes+. I understand it may be less rewarding, but it is fun and easy. (Also I can adjust my camera angle on the fly without landing)

As you are a person, who has been in the Scene for longer, I find it sad to see you advertising stuff like DJI RC 3, the DJI Neo or the Avata. All things wo ultimately get you away from exploring the hobby. Also you didn't mention lots of stuff. I for example didn't find anything about my corner of FPV, long range. Also you advertised Brodie Reed, who is probably the last person one should watch. It is good you mentioned the RM Pocket or the RM Boxer and didn't really said that one should buy the Tango 2, as you can get MUCH better stuff for that money. But what about Goggles? Goggles 2, Integra or 3 are all premium FPV Goggles not everyone can afford. Making a video only about DJI and only mentioning Walksnail and Analog slightly is not the thing advanced pilots would expect from a FPV Pilot with 222k Subscribers. Walksnail is better than DJI in many ways, Analog as well! Also I couldn't find a single mention of Joshua Bardwell in the Video. Did I overhear it or what? "Starting FPV" ALWAYS contains Joshua Bardwell, so I would even go as far as saying this Guide is not complete. Sad to see so many "American DJI Pilots only talking about 2 topics" in the scene. This is not personal but FPV is big. So big you cannot put it in an 11 Minute video!
@KaiVertigoh12 күн бұрын
Fair points. The last time I filmed on this same topic 2 years ago, I touched more on different avenues. I also did mention JB in that last video, I should have also done so in this one, he’s still in my eyes the One to go to for all FPV knowledge. One thing I should footnote is that I approach FPV from a professional background, so I recommend the gear I feel has been the most reliable to me. I agree, FPV goes much deeper and can’t be fully introduced in just 11 minutes. But for hobbyists who want to dive down the rabbit hole, then hopefully this video will be just the spark to get them going!
