As a 17 year old schoolkid I bought a second hand copy of this 10" LP in Bournemouth. My friends and I were normally contemptuous of British rock'n'roll which for us was a bland imitation of the real thing. For us the only exceptions were Billy Fury, thanks to this LP and Screaming Lord Sutch who we saw twice at Weymouth with the loudest backing group we had ever heard. I'm still amazed that Jack Good was able to organise things to get such an authentic sound ranging from blues to rock-a-billy. And as I understand it, all recorded in one day. Everything was perfect, the sound quality, the balance, Billy Fury's singing.

Credit goes to Jack Giod for his very important input, and the musicians who were at the top of their game in this recording session. Immaculate from start to finish. And of course Mr Joe Brown, awesome on guitar especially for such a young guy. Finally, to Billy Fury. As Jack Good said, these sings laid out the whole man, it's Billy's life in lyric form. That and his brilliant, instinctive understanding of a music that was new to the UK. Rightly venerated as a landmark piece of British musical history.

This is fantastic thank you for posting. If you want to know how it feels to be a seventeen year old listen to this. Johnny Cash's American Recordings show how it feels to be old. They and this are the bookends of the male experience. Magic. By the way the album shown is the late seventies re pressing. The way you tell is the number is LFT.... on the original it was LF... also the back had "Laminated with Clarifoil by Brittish Celenese Limited" and the card of the sleeve was cut with arc cutouts top and bottom.
