The X-Pro 1 and this signature edition is a pure gem ! Such a gem Fujifilm is not offering any service anymore on this camera. That's such a shame ... I would love to bring back five of my X-Pro1s to life and finally personalize some of those ! Love your edition !

Some of your best images were with the XP1, one of the reasons I started following you way back. It’s a glorious tool but doesn’t suit everyone. Still got mine along with a few other gems like the X70 although I’m gravitating to Olympus MFT (older models) as the IQ is fantastic in a smaller inexpensive form factor that suits me better. Great work as ever Kevin and thank you for revisiting this banger.

I absolutely adored this camera and still have one but surprisingly I didn't have the aame experience, no waxy skin effect and I actually got better results at 6400 ISO back then with my X-Pro1 than I do now with my X-Pro3 or X100VI. Apart from the slow autofocus, this was arguably Fuji's best sensor in my opinion and as close as it gets to film in the digital world. Maybe it's a matter of software? Adobe just didn't know how to handle Fuji files at the time. Anyway thanks for your video, the X-Pro1 is a treasured memory and you made my day. Cheers

Thanks Kevin. Indeed I think the X-T3 is making me a better shooter since I work with more constraints overall vs. larger sensors. I’ve gotten some razor sharp shots at ISO 12,800, I’ve also shot in a poorly lit log cabin at the same iso and at F/1.2 and come home with wax photos with little to no detail left in them (acceptable as smaller prints only). I’ve learned to position myself or the subjects differently, and have gotten far better with flash. Im “seeing the light” better, these days, if you will. I’d like to see Fuji cameras improve their ISO performance further, for sure, but I’ve also learned that when the light is just too weak, you’ve got to learn how to add some (if you want to retain top quality results anyway).

I miss my Xpro1 and original X100. While I like the performance and output of my X-T5 and X100 veee eye, I feel like there was just something more fun and rewarding about using the older gear.

Hi Kevin, thanks for another great video. I’ve kept my x-pro1 and x-t1 graphite silver edition (best finish on any Fuji so far) and yes, my newer Fuji cameras are easier to use, with much better autofocus and resolution, but… the build quality and finish on these first cameras was spectacular. I know Fuji has to stay competitive but the materials and the durability of the newest cameras is sadly lacking. I think you and Neil have spoken about this on the Fujicast hopefully “they will consider” special editions again in the future.
@kevin_mullins
@kevin_mullins 23 күн бұрын
I agree, some of the special editions have been lovely. I've never had a problem with durability of any of my cameras though. Some of them are far more scratched than others of course. Let's hope for something nice for the X-Pro4 😊

As much as I admire your work, I honestly believe the 16mp xtrans sensor on the early Xpro and XE series can't be beat for that look that can't be replicated by newer cameras. I own a trio of X-E2's and more than once I've experienced FOMO - until I look at the documentary and street images I've captured with them. Then I just go back to shooting. I've printed images up to 13x19 from my digital camera files and honestly don't see a reason to use a larger mp sensor. And with AI upres in post, I figure I'll either try to find low shutter count Xpro2's or just keep using the XE2's til they give up their ghosts.

On my fourth X-Pro1 body. It’s just a very good, comfortable, versatile camera that delivers superb results. In fact, I was out tonight shooting a gig with it, using my trusted Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 lens. I’m watching this after the gig on the come down.

This is all great for nostalgia, however...... I had the original X100 and X-Pro1. Sold them off way back in 2014, then continued on with other models (X-T1,2,3, X-H1 etc). A while ago, I looked at my images from the old photos taken on the Pro-1, and kind of missed that look. I found a mint body on 'fleabay', and bought it. Long story short - it was painfully woeful to use, I sold it off shortly after. Went to India this year for 5 weeks, and thought I needed the look of the X-H1 for the colour pallet in India (Varanasi, Jodhpur etc). Long story short again - was the worst thing I ever did. The painful AFC held me back no end and I ended up hating the thing. Mercifully, I had my Nikon Z camera as my other body so was able to get the home-run shots on that. Moral of the story - don't hanker over old cameras. A bit like "... don't meet your heroes" - you will undoubtedly be very disappointed. Happy to say that every vestige of Fujifilm has been hocked off, never to return.

Whenever I upgrade to a new camera, I later look back at the photos from my previous gear and get very nostalgic for the way they look and feel. But then I ask myself if I’m nostalgic for the equipment that I sold or the precious time with my children who are growing up so quickly. Great video, Kevin. Take one million photos of your kids, everyone.

Fantastic video. I never owned the x-pro1 but my first fujifilm camera was the x-t1. I absolutely loved that camera and the 16 megapixels were never an issue. Id love the x-pro4 with the new battery and a 16 megapixel sensor with the latest film sims. Absolute dream camera there. Ill take the duratec coating as well since we are dreaming lol

I am getting VERY tired of watching KZbin videos with significant amounts of time given over to promoting your sponsor. Mention then briefly yes, long, in-depth advertising, definitely no. Not that you care but I am unsubscribing and won't watch your video to the end.

45 seconds out of nearly fifteen minutes? Here's a thing, why don't YOU join the paid membership of my channel and then maybe I wouldn't need sponsorship at all. Without sponsors, I wouldn't make the content at all.... Which you consume, for FREE.
@jorghahn2903
@jorghahn2903 23 күн бұрын
Hi Kevin, for me it’s ok that you spend a minute or so on promoting your sponsors and products that you offer for sale, but to be fair one also has to say that no one is obliged to offer any content (on YT or wherever) for free. If you offer it for free it’s because you want to offer it for free, not because someone has asked you to do so, I mean, you cannot offer your content for free and then blame your audience for consuming it for free. 😉 As a hobbyist I’m not really interested in subscribing to paid membership channels and as long as the free content is of good quality (like on your channel) I can perfectly live with a few ads. Btw, never had a X-Pro1 but I still use my X-T10 paired with any of the first gen lenses (18/f2; 35/f1.4) regularly.
@kevin_mullins
@kevin_mullins 23 күн бұрын
Thanks for your support. I keep my content free for all. Those that do subscribe the channel (all four of them 😊), don't get any perks. They do it just to support me. So, I agree with you entirely and that's why I sometimes have to have a sponsor on the video. Though I would never have a sponsor that I don't use. 👍
@chopinho65
@chopinho65 22 күн бұрын
Not sure what you’re criticising here. Significant times promoting sponsor…? Short bit on Squarespace - which you can skip - video is about the Fuji X-Pro 1. Now if you’re suggesting promotion of Fuji, he shoots Fuji…and is talking up an old camera you can’t purchase. 😮. And film edition, well I have no issue photographers talking about options for editing.
