The X-Pro-3 is a dog. If they ever (and it's doubtful) come out with a Pro-4 I will check it out, but it's not an automatic "upgrade". They made magic with the Pro-2.

I sold my XT5 and XH2s for an XT3. My other camera is an XE4. The buffer on the XT5 was slow, and I feel confident with the 26mpx cameras for client work. Also I don’t do as much video as I thought I would, so the 6k open gate was overkill. In 2025, I’m using the XT3 for my work camera and the XE4 for my walk around everyday dad cam.

Got my (first) X-Pro-2 in 2017. Loved it, except for the fiddly Shutter Speed/ISO dial. Just never warmed to it. So I sold the whole setup and got a Canon R6... and I hated it. So I went to KEH thinking I'd just sell it, and what do I see? A mint (LN-) X-Pro-2 limited edition in grey with matching 23 f/2. Adding a 14 f/2.8 and 35 f/2 on trade for the Canon gear, plus $200 back. Figured out a workaround for my dial issues (auto ISO) and this camera just rocks. I see a Leica (Q3) in the future, but I am never selling the Fuji.

Agreed. I’m still using mine for work. I’ve got two and I’m thinking of getting another. I think all their f2 lenses are great. I’m just hoping they’ll release the X-Pro 4 addressing the issues you mentioned plus with an even larger, improved EVF/ovf. But they would need to retain the build quality of the X-Pro 2. I think their newer cameras cut corners on this aspect. I don’t have large hands so it handles well for me. Thanks for the video man. I share your love for this thing of beauty.

Kept my X-Pro2 after moving over to L mount. My favorite lenses to use on it are the Fuji 23mm 2.0 and the Voigtlander Snapshot Skopar 25mm 4.0. Sometimes the 23mm will miss focus and the Skopar is something I can set and forget. I use the 23mm if I know I will have someone else use the camera. My favorite color simulation is Classic Chrome and I also like a Portra 400 recipe. JPEGs are good enough for my purposes but still shoot Raw/JPEG. I tend to overexpose as a preference and having the raw file is great in case I overdo it!

Classic Chrome and Portra recipes are winners for sure! Shooting RAW+JPEG for safety while embracing overexposure-smart move!

I'm with you Wes. My first serious mirrorless camera was a Canon APS-C with a Smallrig cage which, as a one-handed southpaw, is a must if I want to shoot handheld. I still use it, but, I then purchased a Fujifilm X-T1 and the damn thing just sings to me. I love that camera. Okay, think retired old guy with a weekend hobby sports car and that's me and the X-T1. Flaws, don't care. Old tech, don't care. I just love picking it up. And, yes, I have a cage custom adapted to the X-T1 so I can pick it up and shoot handheld. I've never, in my whole life, been a fanboy for anything, but the Fuji X-T1 has that thing I just can not describe except, it sings to me.

I love my X-Pro2. I bought it when the X-Pro3 was announced and after seeing the direction they were going with that new rear LCD, I snapped up one of the last new-in-the-box X-Pro2 bodies that I could locate. At the time I had the X-T2 and X-E3, both sharing the sensor and processor with the X-Pro2, so I could use multiple bodies based on size and capability without adjusting my expectations on the end item...the images. My X-Pro2 is my prime lens body. I have all the ""Fujicrons", and their small tapered shape works better when using the optical finder. I bought the somewhat expensive Lens Mate thumbgrip made for this body and it improves the handling dramatically, allowing one hand operation. I'll not sell my X-Pro2.

After migrating to the Fuji system about 6 years ago, I had an X-Pro2 for awhile and sold it. It didn't take too long to realize I'd made a mistake. I bought another that has become my daily carry. My only real complaint is that there is no OEM replacement for the rubber eyepiece once it fails. The aftermarket ones I've found use a pretty poor adhesive to attach and don't stay on long. The original had a bayonet fitting that locked it in place.

X-Pro2 is the best choice IF one likes using the optical viewfinder. Otherwise the X-E3 is much better bang for buck, essentially X-Pro2 minus optical VF and weather sealing. It's smaller, too.

As a user of the xp2 for over 4 years, I love it because it is "slow". By modern standards, it's auto focus is slow, it has limited frames per second and doesn't have super fast iso. However, its slowness gives thinking time. Since trading in my previous Nikon setup for this camera, my image quality and saleability, have improved dramatically. I feel that this camera becomes part of me which is something I have never felt before.

I had the 1 and skipped the 2, going for the 3. The big miss on the 3 is the failure to retain the dual magnification OVF of the 1 & 2. I'm glad I went for the 3 though as I now own some Voigtländer X-Mount lenses and they only electronically couple to the 3, not the earlier versions. If the anticipated version 4 does not return to the dual magnification OVF, I probably won't buy one.

ve both the X-Pro 1 & X-Pro2, just spent 4 days in Venice with the XP2, it is still the best street photography camera out there. Left the XP1 behind as I knew the lighting wasn't going to be the best and the vXP1 &35 1.4 would struggle. What would I change about the XP2? Depends, as always, on what kind of photography you'll be doing. I have an X-T5, X-Pro2, X-H1 and a X-M1. For events I usually have two cameras - always the X-Pro2 plus either the X-T5 (if there's not a lot of light, or if there are dogs or kids to capture images of), but often the X-H1. The X-M1 is for travel/holidays and some street. The X-Pro2 is my favourite by far, and the only modification I've made is a thumb grip slotted into the hot shoe - makes one-handed stuff so much easier. If there are a few Fujis sitting on the desk and I'm heading for the door, it's likely to be the X-Pro2 I pick up ;-)

There's nothing wrong with making a mistake at all. We make mistakes in judgement all the time. I've sold lenses and then bought them back. Six weeks later. I've sold camera bodies and then gone. What did I do that for? And then I bought it back again? it's okay. It's part of the Photography journey and we do have relationships with our gear and maybe because I love Fuji film so much this story did make me laugh and I can totally understand it. Fuji cameras to have a personality. No other camera brand has a personality that you might not like that personality some days especially when you're trying to get the nasty little autofocus to work but guess what? That's okay they'll fix it.

Put a 27mm on it, the classic 35mm f/1.4 or the first 23mm f/1.4 and it is on. The Fujicrons fit also so perfectly on it and I prefered the OVF with the 50mm f/2.

I had an x-pro2 as my second camera to my X-H2. I sold it and still am not sure I did the right thing. I just didn't feel I should own 2 cameras even though I own a bunch of lenses. Strange. It was a great camera and there is something about the body that I just love the feel and look of, plus it's more compact than the x-h2 and far better built than the xt cameras. I do a fair bit of video for my semi-serious hobby but I'm not so hung up that I need the latest video specs. I'm hoping that the x-pro4 ... whenever it comes out some day ... will be good enough to make it my one camera does all camera. In the meantime, I'll have fond memories of the x-pro2.

That wood grip sounds fantastic! The 27mm/35mm is such a practical combo, and adapting that Voigtlander is a great idea 📸 How's the manual focus experience?

@ manual focus is a breeze. I don’t think twice about it on the Nikon and it’s not difficult on the xp2 either

I sold all my Nikon gear for a Fuji Xpro3. No it’s not a 2 but same feelings. I’ve had this camera for 3 years now and have become completely attached to it. It’s fantastic when you can forget about the camera and just concentrate on photography.

That's exactly what makes the X-Pro series special - it just gets out of your way and lets you focus on the photography 📸 Love hearing stories like this!

The X-pro2 is overrated. For a supposed high end model, the EVF eye relief is poor, no better than that of a low-end camera. One big flaw is the the polarizer in the EVF is oriented the wrong way compared to almost all other cameras - it will turn black if you try to use it with polarized sunglasses. The form factor is big for no good reason - it doesn't help with enabling a better grip. As an owner of 6 other Fuji cameras, I was glad to get rid of my X-pro2

Thanks for sharing your detailed experience. Each camera certainly has its own quirks - the sunglasses/EVF issue you mentioned is particularly interesting technical feedback. Sounds like you've found other Fuji bodies that better match your shooting style 📸

Xpro 2 is sick. I loved my XPro3 but I found the screen to be annoying later on in my experience.

True, some Fuji models get that hype premium (looking at you, X100V! 😅), but there are so many amazing Fujis out there at really reasonable prices. The X-T2, X-Pro2, X-H1... absolute steals for what they can do! 📸

I thought you would say how you test it thoroughly every aspect of the built and image quality, autofocus, colour science, price tag, ease of use etc., but you're just bluffing about your love-at-first-sight kind of emotional thing. I'm sorry for myself to expect serious discussion from you and wasting the precious time.
