X-Pro2 User here. I would love to see a matt black or dark grey X-Pro4. In my eyes they messed it up with the "3". The display idea was interesting, but not radical enough. I would love to see a Leica MD style X-Pro camera. I would ditch the flippable screen and just integrate a magentic display cover with for a static display. They should ignore those flippable screen screamers. 24MP are enough, but IBIS would be really nice.

It might seem odd but I think with the X-Pro4 they should make it more similar in some of the ways that the X-100 is appealing to many people. 1 - Fit the X-Pro stuff into the X-100 body - or something looking very similar. 2 - Really push forward with film simulation stuff. 3 - Release some some Manual focus only lenses. The XT and XH now fill professional roles. The X-Pro doesn't need to be the same camera in a different shaped body. That's not enough product variation. They should branch off the X-Pro further as an enthusiast / hobbyist / hipster / film lover / trendy poser / and sort of luddites (who don't care much about innovations in IBIS... elite AF... etc.) Another option similar to this IS to kill the X-Pro line and make an interchangeable lens X-100. Call it an X-100-Pro I guess. Don't kill me guys.

Totally share your passion for the Xpro series. It's just a piece of art using the camera all around. Don't care about the specs, it's all about the emotional factor with pictures for me. All cameras today are more than good enough to take great photos, but to have a camera that looks and feels great to use is basically everything and all that matters!

I've always wondered if Fuji might push the x-pro onto a gfx mount. It's niche, and dare I say occupies a more luxury segment. I thought this prediction was dead with the gfx100sii still following the past route. But now fuji has teased us with the possibility of a gfx fixed lens cam. This would surely have to have a gfx50R styling. But no option to change lens. Unless Fuji is taking notes of all the comments flying over at Fujirumors. I still think this might be the route Fuji takes. With any x-mount rangefinder style being a mash-up between x-pro and x-e if indeed the two models weren't selling enough units individually to justify further development over bigger volume unit shifters.

my wish is maybe it can have tradiational optical mechanical rangefinder, but except it is coupled by wire to autofocus system, not the rangerfinder lens barrel . So it can finally have the glorious overalpping optical images on OVF. (yeah I know. It's stupid but at this point, why not)

X pro 2 and x e2 owner here. I have a fear they either won’t make the x pro4. Normally a company like this makes a top tier expensive halo product with latest tech, then a model below that where tech trickles down, which is a higher volume seller. But the x100 series sells so well they don’t need to do it. There are waiting lists and the hype doesn’t die down. So I can’t see them needing it. I love the idea of a modern Xpan though.

We've reached a point where there's much less innovation to be had on the stills side compared with video. The X-Pro just needs the current processor and AF, and updated sims. Maybe return to the old screen. Otherwise, it's already great. Just look at the shots you included in this video... taken with the old models not some future one, along with the old slow primes. And I want for nothing because they're perfect already... the gear is there, all it needs is our skill.

Where is the xpro4? They’ve already killed the xe4 and gfx 50r. What these all have in common is rangefinder styling and interchangeable lenses… This is the very system that I am most interested in as a photographer. And the only way to get this outside of Leica. It’s puzzling to me that Fuji is willfully ignoring their most ardent supporters like this. Esp when they can’t even make enough x100 RANGEFINDER’s to meet demand. Instead they drop another goofy looking xt5o or whatever…. Sad.

All Fuji has to do is put the new battery, new 40mp sensor, IBIS, and a slightly higher res set of screens in the X-pro 4 and it will sell like hotcakes- esp. given all the X100VI hype. Such a horrible business decision to not have done this yet!

No you have to look at it from a economy and philosophy standpoint ; the Pro series was never the best selling lineup from Fuji even it has a cult following (myself included) and just cramming in all the features from the X-T line will turn the X-Pro into something it never was - like all the other generic cameras.

X-pro2 user here. I agree, an Xpro4 is an important component of a Fuji lineup moving forward. It's not their biggest selling line, but imo it - and the X100 - is their defining product as a manufacturer. It tells the world how Fuji sees itself. And they are just plain great to use.

Right? WTF Fuji? I bought two xpro 3's even hating the flip screen just because I felt it might be the last. On my pro 2 I just ran it with the screen off and would prefer to do that than flip down. I hear ya man. We need a photo-centric camera in the world and it needs to be the XPro4. When I went to Fuji, it was because Leica digital sucked for the price point and the M was not mature enough to replace my M6. I fell in love with the x100 and xPro line. When the three dropped, I hated the idea of the flip screen. So I bought the M10R in black paint. That could not replace my M6 feeling nor my Fuji feeling so sold that and got two Pro 3s. Now years later, no 4 and nothing but big lenses and video. I could accept it if they did a GFXR2 but not that either. Fuji has lost what got them here and that's sad. They obviously picked x100 over Pro line. If I were at Leica, I would do a Q3.5 with a 35 lux and Fuji, both x100 and Pro, would be gone.

Great video and comments. I am afraid Fujifilm will put that 40MP sensor in the next X-Pro if for no other reason for economy of manufacturing and that will be sad. I rented the X-Pro3 and found the flip down screen to be frustrating. For me, just going back to the flat LCD rear screen of the X-Pro2 would be an improvement. I agree the X-Pro4 is long overdue and it would be a terrible shame to do away with the X-Pro line.

They almost certainly will IMO, use the 40 MP sensor. I'd say there is no chance of any other sensor but the 40 MP sensor. I do love my X-T5 and X-H2S, but am always tempted by the X-pro line.

What I’d like an X-Pro4 to have; - Larger OVF/EVF with dual magnification brought back, same magnification factors as X-Pro2 - Better serviceability, i.e. user replaceable rubber eyepiece, it’s Pro after all - Cleaner design with nods to X100 VI, remove branding on top plate - Clarity without blackouts - Better and more suitable management of custom film recipes, separate from C profiles - Digital Tele Converter with primes, incl correct frame lines in OVF - ISO dial with clutch (X100VI style) - HDMI output - Even though i prefer X-Pro3 display for hip shooting, because its so polarizing, simply make it available with two types of display; a) X-Pro3 style display, but better build quality, thinner, and with narrower bezels, sub display flush with panel. b) X100VI or X-T5 traditional style

I am afraid that Fuji's problem currently is too many different models - XH2, XT5, XT30/50, XS20, some people would like to have XPRO4 while others XE5. And then there is X100. Techwise they have everything needed for XPRO4 - IBIS + sensor and viewfinder from X100VI, body from XPRO2 or tilt-screen from XT5. But it is yet another model which definitely won't sell as good as X100...

I agree with you Kevin, it's definitely time for an X Pro 4. As a devoted X Pro 3 user I'd really like IBIS, the back display screen restored like the X Pro 2 had and a slightly larger grip on the right. I've just got my X100 VI and I"m interested to see whether it's going to be my go-to camera and replace my X Pro 3 in that respect. Still debating whether to sell my XT 4 as it sits in the bag a lot of the time now. Keep producing the great videos, Kevin. Cheers.

Hey Kevin~ I agree with you. I started with the X-Pro1 in 2012 and have always preferred it. I use the XT5, XE4 and X100V for weddings, but I’d get two X-Pro4 bodies if it ever comes out. (I’ll also be first in line for a digital XPAN). There is also a market for a real rangefinder like an M11, but that’s a completely different story…

As an old fart (75 years old who's first camera was a 1955 Brownie in 1955) photographer one of my favorite 35mm cameras was/is (I still have it) a Yashica Electro 35. I see both the X100, & XPro series as RF as successors to my old Electro 35. My first Fujifilm camera was an XE, then I added an XT2, and a bag of eight lenses. My current shooters are an XT3 and an XE3 with most shooting done currently with the XE3 + 23mm f/2.0. I have been seriously considering an X100VI (I am wait listed with a promise of sometime in May) and an XPro4 if it ever materializes.

I'd like some brass on the top & bottom plates. Purely an aesthetic issue - as the camera ages and is used, that 'brassing' that we used to see on cameras after a few years of use and abuse was just so much nice than the silver colour that we get now (assuming your digital camera gets used for long enough before the next model takes its place).

I would want so very little in an Xpro4. OVF that can project frame lines for the 18mm again (also we need an updated 18mm cron). AF acquisition from the OVF like the X100VI. A tilting back screen I can shoot off of like the EX4 screen. The titanium models had a lovely finish but the fit never impressed me. Gaps along the OVF, etc. Keep the formfactor character, just find a way of tightening up things. Less seems and screws, etc.

Obviously, the X-Pro4 could be produced quite easily and with the now ubiquitous 40mp sensor and IBIS, plus the usual fantastic hybrid viewfinder. I suppose the real mystery would be what kind of rear screen it would have. My vote would be for the one like on an X-T5 - one that tilts in both landscape _and_ portrait positions.

X-Pro2 user here and what I'd like to see in the X-Pro4. A compact high power rechargeable handgrip, 26 or 40MP sensor doesn't matter, a real flip screen, better optical and digital viewfinder, IBIS, faster and accurate autofocus, no sticky fingerprint finish and the same ergo as XP2. Most importantly, discard or limit the video function.

Come on, there is so much to add/upgrade: 1. Fix the damn screen they ruined on the XPro 3! Give us a Canon style flippy rotating screen that does all the things. it flips closed if you're a douche, it flips out if you're filming, it flips flat like normal if you're just shooting like almost all photographers always shoot. it isn't hard and everyone knows it the right way to do things. No other camera company is confused about this! 2. Make it 40+ megapixels. Not much to say, the sensors are normal now, just step up. 3. FIx the ISO dial that has be WRONG and the subject of much pain and crying since the XPro 1. 4. Obviously IBIS. 5. Dedicated photo/video settings that stay set with the mode. Specifically shutter speeds that match to frame rate when jumping back and forth between stills and video. Other cameras do this. 6. Maybe jump to full frame? I know this could get people freaked out but seriously, It would end a lot of debate and move the line forward from being slightly compromised into fully capable. I know, controversy! 7. That dual ISO thing Sony's do would be killer and game changing for reportage and event shooting. 8. Obviously an updated and feature rich viewfinder would be required. Maybe some features no camera has? Laser distance metering, fun graphical manual focus assists, night vision, unicorn mode? 9. We need a Fuji brand colored "dot" somewhere on the camera. Make it look premium. 10. Simple but pro spec'd side ports for tethering, video , sound etc. Maybe a data port with a breakout box for the real shit? 11. FIX THE CAMERA APP! Fuji is the only system that has no functioning camera app and they just don't seem to give a shit. Leica went all in and made it work pretty seamlessly. We need that. The new system that actually works should be well integrated into the camera as a core feature. If they're ever going to do the XPro again they need to put the "Pro" into it. Make it the flagship "Pro" camera that we are looking for. It needs to be the sexy jaw dropper we all know it can be. I shoot my XPro 2 along side my Canon on commercial shoots. I use it next to a Pentax 645Z and it fits right in. I shoot concerts and journalism with it. I shoot celebrity parties exclusively with my XPro 2. The camera wants to be everywhere and we need it to be everywhere with us.

Just look at there crazy menu system, that the worst on the marked, maybe together with Sony. There are a lot to fix here. Be more brave. Make a camera that are only for photographers, Make a XPro4 Monocrome For me I think Fujifilm have lost some of there photography souls and put everything in to pleasing the masses.

I look at it another way. The more you evolve a camera technologically, the further away it gets from the original concept. The X-Pro3 is 90% there. Is it worth the engineering resources for that other 10% of features? A 40MP sensor may bring negative comment that the magic of the 16MP sensor is lost. It becomes a different camera.

I could not agree more! I shoot with an x-pro 2 and I am at a point where I need a 2nd body to shoot and I simply am not inspired by the XT5 type body. I am seriously considering a complete change of system entirely due to the lack of a new x pro! And It makes me angry. I shoot on leicas for pleasure and just like with the fuji x pro line, it’s all about what the camera makes you feel because that’s what makes you pick it up in the first place.

I am with you here Kevin. I pre-ordered an X-Pro2 the moment I saw Lok Cheung showing one on KZbin. I could not wait to get it and I loved it. I still have it and although I now have a lot of Fuji cameras, X-T and X-H models, my X-Pro2 is my go-to for London street photography. I have been desperately waiting for news of the X-Pro4 and if, and when it is announced, my order will go in on the same day. Great video, Kevin.

I hope fuji ditches this weird Xpro3 lcd screen. Sold it after my lcd and sub monitor failed 2 times , only took 12.000 photos with the camera.

The LCD screen is hated by some and loved by others - there is no denying that. I've got three X-Pro3s and never had a monitor failure (though I do know people it has happened to, like you).

X-Pro used to be the highest end before GFX arrived. I don’t want an X-T5. I want to replace my X-Pro 2 with an X-Pro 4. Owned a GFX100s, WONDERFUL camera. And yet it’s big. I love X-Pros way better.

Yes. I also have a GFX100S and it is amazing. But it's not a camera I want to walk around with.

Look at Fuji's core lineup at the time of the X-Pro2: Xpro2, X-T2, X-T30, X-E3; and look at Fuji's lineup today: X-H2/S, X-T5, X-S20, (X-T50). There is definitely a shift in direction.

Fujifilm, please don't make me sell my fujifilm gear and buy the Leica Q3 please make a significantly smaller GFX fixed rangefinder to compete with the Q3 or a Xpro4 that is upgraded with ibis, xt5's evf or bigger and better, bigger battery, dual jpeg film sim outputs and the Q3s multiple focal ranges so you could carry one lens but at least have one other field of view.

The upgrade is pretty obvious: 40 MP VR with a tilty screen, basically the rear end of the X100R. It would be a good replacement for the 24 MP, no VR, fixed screen of the X-Pro2 (the X-Pro3 is too heavily into gimmick territory to warrant a place in the series).

The X-Pro3 was made available in late November 2019, if I'm not mistaken. The X100V arrived a couple of months later, in February 2020, I think. I realize that there are few rumours, but now that the X100VI is out, could the next X-Pro in the series be far off? Or is this just wishful thinking?

I think it's wishful thinking....but I hope we are wrong. For the first two versions of the X-Pro, they came before the next XT. We have seen three new XT's, various XH's and all sorts of other cameras since the last X-Pro.

Here's my argument for 40mp: if they added TX-1 65:24 crop native to the camera, you'd have ~22mp crops. It'd be even better with extra width for OVF/EVF for even nicer composition, but that part might be pie in the sky. I'd be thrilled to just get the in-camera crop along side the 1:1 and 16:9. That's what would get me to trade up from my X-Pro3. Otherwise, I don't really think I need to upgrade.

I’m waiting for the next X-Pro camera so badly. Love my X-Pro 3; don’t get me wrong. But it’s about time for Fujifilm to close the gap between this one and the modern camera models. For my taste it should have the same features as the X100VI, of course interchangeable lens design. Maybe strip it down a bit, to make it even more a photographers tool. It doesn’t need the latest video features. I don’t care fore video at all in this camera. But please give it a nice sounding shutter ✌️ Oh and make it available when sales start. Waiting since February 20th for my X100VI, in Germany…😩

It doesn't really make sense to "not" have video capability as it would cost more for them to remove it. Better for people to just ignore it if they don't want it. Hope you get your X100VI soon....

I used the original X100 through the T and into the F, loved them all. I gave the F to my old dad who wanted a smaller kit. I planned to replace it with the V, no chance couldn't get one anywhere I then dropped on a well priced X-Pro2, loved it to bits, then so went crazy and bought the Q2, no regrets at all, but the XP2 was mothballed. Then I decided to modify the X-Pro2 to shoot black and white IR, the X-Pro2 is now a constant in my bag. Not sure the X-Pro4 would temp me but as I have more money than sense, fast running outta money tho', never say never.

I don't think Fuji is disregarding the X-Pro line but I do think they may skip the X-Pro 4 and go straight to 5 when they make their next sensor generation. They stated previously the X-T line was never meant to be the flagship photography line. It Should Go X-H premium Video X-Pro premium photo and X-T hybrid all around and maybe a X-TXX i.e. ( XT30) for the mid low end. I too want the X-Pro line more than any other right. Even though I have never shoot it having only owned X-T1 and X-T5 but still very much look forward to a range finder style hybrid viewfinder with image stabilization. I hope it gets introduced soon.

No Xpro 4 or any new major announcements for the “x series” Fuji is now focusing on the G series - according to my boy who is a Fuji rep. Also all the headaches they had over the XPro 3 they are likely to just end the line. Sorry.

Just give me an XPRO with XT5 internals including the XT5's flip screen and IBIS. I don't think I'd ever need anything more from a camera. Keep the fancy finishes and metals. Just give me a brilliant basic tool. I will buy one tomorrow.

I liked my pro2, but sadly, the viewfinder broke, and I gave it away! Never liked the pro3 for the back screen, so I picked up the XT4 instead. Unfortunately, that camera went back to the shop twice for problems. I guess what I’m trying to say is the quality of the cameras doesn’t seem as good as Canon or Nikon. I recently upgraded to the XT5, and haven’t had any problems so far. I do like that I’m able to do everything with one hand on that camera. If they do a pro4 , let’s hope they at least make it for the photographer only, leaving video completely out of it! Fuji has plenty of other cameras for video. I do want the 40 megapixels, the bigger viewfinder and the back screen of the XT5. Improved auto focus.

I've never had to send any of my cameras in for repair (except an X-T1 which I dropped). I think sometimes there is just a bit of bad luck in the world. They won't remove video as it would cost even more to do that. Better to have it and just let people not use it really.

There is nowhere in the current lineup for an Xpro camera to fit. Fuji declared the XH series the flagship. At the time the Xpro was current, it was the default flag ship, they even called it pro. The next Xpro, if there was one, would have to fall in line behind both XH cameras and the XT5 in both features and price. I don't think that is possible. For example, the new Xt50 is ridiculous. It's 96% an XT5 and it's only $200 less than XT5. A person would be making a huge mistake to buy that over the XT5. And a new Xpro would put people in a similar situation.

There is definitely space for an X-Pro 4. Just look at the comments here. But I agree there is more and more cross over between the cameras now. But that's the same regardless which brand you are invested in.
