You have to consider, that for 200 bucks and taking Chinese homage watches in account even starting at around 100-150 bucks, you get really good automatic watches these days. Quality has risen substantially over the last years, just think of the jump from the nh2x to the nh3x series, about Christopher Ward, Longines and so on. You can get decently working tourbillion watches under 1000 bucks these days, if you give them to a watch maker and he re oils everything, you are at 1-1.2 thousand bucks for a good working tourbillion watch with an original design. So when Keven became rich, at these price point weren't nearly as good watches, as today. I think in some videos with Teddy and Kevin, Kevin even bought some cheaper pieces, because he loved them so much.

It's a great gesture, but at the same time he got it through the UAE royals. The UAE and KSA's whole shtick is to destabilize their neighbors and keep the wider Middle-East and Muslim World poor cuz that way they maintain their leverage and power. It's why they've been backing civil-war in Yemen since the 1950s; Yemen alone has 30mill citizens while all the Gulf states _combined_ has less than 30mill citizens, and Yemen was a kingdom for thousands of years whereas these Gulf nations were small city-states and desert nomads. A stable Yemen would be a regional superpower, same with Somalia. It's why they fear and loathe Turkey and lran. The Khaleeji monarchies (and lsraeI) want a civil-war in Lebanon.

It's also jewelry. And an investment. And a piece of art and history. When I look at my watch, I don't give a damn what the time is. I look because I want to see something beautiful for a moment.

@Matthew Elder A watch is not an investment. The vast majority lose value fairly quickly, and even the expensive rolexes only manage to hold their value. So unless you are saying you are "investing" in your happiness, which is impossible to argue the merit of as it's too subjective, I disagree.
@johnuhrig69933 жыл бұрын
@@mattcelder I would agree with you because I love watches too; but that beautiful moment isn’t worth upwards of $6,000 to me. And the whole investment argument is bs unless you buy a watch the way you would buy stocks-to sell later. But lots of people think of it as getting their return in the form of personal contentment
