Nice vid, short and sweet! You might want to mention a couple of caveats 1) The Xbox Game Bar cannot record the actual Windows desktop, Windows Explorer, or other built-in apps. 2) It also can't continuously record while switching between apps that are enabled for recording. It's still a useful screen recording app, but those are pretty major limitations, which would likely be deal-breakers for many people looking for a screen recording solution. Otherwise, like I said, great work!

Voice recording is pretty choppy, too much system noise is recorded than the original recording

Absolutely true. I've switched from mac where you have true screen recording and can switch among windows and get it all recorded for free. IS there anything similar on windows?

for me i was trying to record discord, if you have 2 monitors drag it to the monitor where game bar starts / your main monitor and press windows and g it should work

if it doesn't work, press windows+alt+r and open the xbox game bar again and it should not be shadowed anymore. hope this helped. (May 5, 2023)

I like these type of solid geniuses and using usually short videos. They aren't pirated copies, too. I don't have chiper oversaw the cheapnesses until the phrase goes on ahead of time. One of my favourites is Kevin Stratvert

Kevin, great tip and timely for me as I needed a screen recorder. I had never used the Game Bar before, and the Capture "widget" didn't show by default. I had to click the Widget item in the main Game Bar (2nd icon from the left in the bar with the time) and click on Capture for the widget to appear. Thanks for the tip!

it worked for me, make sure the app you want to record is open and press the windows button + Alt + R and it will start recording. The first time it recorded the Game bar screen and I could see the cursor moving so I noticed you must be on the app or program that u want to record, otherwise it won't work, if switching apps and that, it won't work

Hi Kevin, thank you for the videos you post I really learn a lot from them. Can you post a video on redacting information from Word documents? I am not sure how to redact multiple words that are the same at the same time, (such as redacting the name Mary on the entire document; there are 25 mentions of Mary on the paper) and am not sure whether Word can do that or whether only 1 word can be redacted at a time only.

I am using ScreenRec to record PC screen on my Windows 10 PC. Compared both solutions i.e. windows gamebar n ScreenRec and found that both are good

For the Game Xbox app) All you you have to do is press alt+Windows button+R key to start recording then on the side you will see a bar, that’s the recording bar and then you go to the file of whatever game it is you recorded in and the video will be there

No hate, but… I’m gonna say that this is a bit misleading. I used the game bar before I knew about OBS and I know the XBOX Game Bar only records front window and is mainly used for games. If you want to record fullscreen, I’d recommend Streamlabs or OBS Studio.
