The way You explain how O365 works makes me immediately have some ideas for how to improve my work. Microsoft should honor you with the medal of "MVP of the ENTIRE UNIVERSE" - for showing in practice how theirs solutions can be used. OneDrive is better in theory than in practice. If you use multiple computers and have many files, the synchronization process can take awhile. I am not referring to the actual file being downloaded to the computer, but just to have the file name appear in File Explorer. Even when the file that you want to open appears in File Explorer, it sometimes does not open because OneDrive is still synchronizing, with OneDrive refusing to perform the task that the user wants to do *right now.* In addition, the web version of Microsoft Word is subpar. The formatting of a Word document will often be changed between the desktop and web versions of Word. Certain elements of your document will appear in the desktop version, but not in the web version. The web version will sometimes even remove simple formatting, such as tabs in the beginning of paragraphs. My workplace used to store your files on the LAN and then allow Remote Desktop if you were offsite. While Remote Desktop could be slow, at least it was faster than the synchronization process in OneDrive and the formatting of your files was not altered.

I think the entry level questions I'd want answered (was able to easily find some but still would include in an intro) - how much space to you get with hotmail, vs 365 basic, vs 365 standard - what if you want more - cost. How do I change the location of my one drive documents on my PC. What if I lose access to the 365 account - e.g. work account - no longer working there. Can you schedule syncs. E.g. from 6PM until 6AM...

Sometimes the OneDrive icon will not show on your task bar. Press the Windows button and type Onedrive and then click to open it. You then might see the circling arrows icon that tell you a file is in progress of being uploaded/downloaded. This helps to avoid making changes to a file while it's being updated by OneDrive... the cloud is not instant like a hard drive...

Might be worth doublechecking that OneDrive is a startup app on your PC. Then you don't have to worry about manually starting.

I often type and step back to have the computer catch up with me. I want to save several Word documents to my computer versus the OneDrive. How do I do this, and how do I get those files to link to OneDrive later when I don't need the speed?

Since you are a Microsoft employee, I see why you are only talking about Office 365, but those of us who are retired on a fixed income use Microsoft 2019 or newer because we don't want a monthly subscription, but we still use it and want to learn how to use it and learn about it. We have still paid Microsoft for the product. Please help those of us on a fixed income and not an employee of a business that gives us 365

Can you do a video with your vision about -when to use API -When monolitic Web App like ASPNET MVC WEB APP I feel people are misunderstanding API is not for everything. It should only be the option if you need different UI or B2B solution like when you need to communicate with SalesForce etc Monolitic is not bad development but i've seen few youtubers approaching this topic. Software is at the end one step among several to materialize tangible solutions and many developer are loosing the real target that is choose the most simple software type project. If you noticed really few people consider solution like asp net web app or desktop app and the arguments are scalability, multiplatform operability etc but mos important any is simplicity because you need something up and running as soon as possible to start making money.. Scalability is a different animal you dont need to worry about at early stage.. You focus is start making money yesterday Please create video to cover the topics I am mentioned. Very useful. Two questions and one comment: * Question: This is just available in "commercial" versions of OneDrive, right? It is not available in the OneDrive of my private Office365 account? * Question: Will on-line collaboration work with non-MS programs? I use some tools (word processor, etc.) that is for writing math documents (LaTeX based tools are much better for this than Word, in my experience). * Comment on-line sharing and collaboration... where I live, I typically get wi-fi speeds of 15 kbps - 2 Mbps in cafes. If I tether with my phone (5G support), I can get anything from 15 kbps (experienced in a large Western European city) to 200 Mbps (in my home city). So I would not use a system that is based on files in the cloud only. I want a system where I save files on my local SSD disk, and then a tool syncs my files to the cloud tool (e.g., OneDrive), and and then shuffles the files down to other computers that is in the sync loop.

- This is work or school only currently and not yet for consumer accounts. - You'll get version history and you can leave comments on any file stored in OneDrive. However, you won't get the in-document collaboration experiences with non-MS apps. - OneDrive offers a desktop sync app. That way, you can store a file locally and in the cloud, keeping the two in sync.

Hello. There are different folders that are important to me on different drives on my computer. For example, "My projects", "Software" and so on. I want to upload all these folders to OneDrive. I need this for backup. I also want all changes in these folders to be synchronized with OneDrive. How can I do it? I found the ability to synchronize “Pictures”, “Desktop”, “Documents” and several more “standard” folders. But I don’t see how I can add the folders I need to synchronization. This is quite easy to do with Google Drive. What about OneDrive?

In theory you can upload games, but its not a smart idea. OneDrive by default will backup your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop folders, NOT any program files folders. You would need to manually add those to be backed up. However, uploading games can take a significant amount of time to upload and cloud storage space. Its not an efficient way of backing up games.

Now i redownload all my stuff but all my things like progress in my games or my apps i had are gone . You shouldn’t lose your files if you uninstall one drive. Your local files on the computer just gets synced periodically when changes are made. If you uninstall onedrive, you should still be able to access any files from the web version of one drive.

You can use the web apps without a subscription. 1TB is only good with a subscription, otherwise it drops to 5GB.

I understand the basic commands and functions of One Drive, but my annoyances are two: 1. The way it appears on my Windows Explorer- Whenever it downloads a file- I get a long address which is buried deep inside my user account on my PC, not the download folder that is easiest to access. The other problem is that I can't seem to get the pictures folders to work seamlessly between Photos in One Drive, my Samsung Device, and my Desktop Pictures folders. Any ideas on these two issues? With the first, it seems like One Drive always wants to show you multiple places where docs are stored.

None of these tutorials tell us how to just backup our stuff like photos without it being deleted when changes are made on the laptop. All I want is to safely backup my photos and not worry that they will be deleted from the cloud if I have to suddenly factory reset my laptop or android. No one will explain it in a simple, logical way. They always assume we understand all of the jargon and symbols. I don't want to do an entire 27 hour course to be able to do this.

I have been using Onedrive since I needed a feature called "files available online" in Android. But my biggest complain is the very slow synchronization in windows11. Google drive is way better in terms of optimization and easy access and saving of files. I do hope that OneDrive should be more optimized, considering that it is from Microsoft.

OneDrive is definitely the best cloud-based app for multiple applications. My only gripe is that at certain intervals it will copy all of my photos to my primary (C:) drive. This is a problem as my primary drive is only a 250Gb ssd, and it fills up quickly. I do have a secondary conventional HD that is much larger. Every time it happens, I have to delete all the photos that have been copied to the C: drive by OneDrive. I do not know why OneDrive does this or I how I can stop it.

I have MS OneDrive. I'm retired, just use one drive to back things up. I recently backed up my MS access medical database. Good, because my primary data drive died but I hve several external old drives from old computers. But One rive would not let me just drag and drop back to my PC. That's whole reason I got it. For the 1st time I want to just copy a file from One Drive back to my PC. I'm trying to just drag and drop and it will not let me just do that. How do I do that? I get he impression I could have one drive continuously automatically bak up my dtabase. Note the verson of MS Access I use is older not one of the more ribbon based ms programs.

In the sync client, click on the settings gear, then sync and backup, and you can indicate what folders to automatically backup. 👍
