One point of concern or confusion: at 9:12, you say that data sent to the Proton servers is 'encrypted end-to-end' and even Proton cannot access "UNENCRYPTED DATA.' What are you saying? Why the word 'UNencrypted' if the data is encrypted end-to-end? Yes, I'm confused. Thank you, Leo, for a nicely done job.

On your machine you have unencrypted data. As uploaded, and when uploaded, it is encrypted. Proton has no way to decrypt the data so as to see your unencrypted data.

I believe google drive links to files and folders can be shared with RO access to non-google accounts. Google calendar can not.

As long as you bring up Proton Drive, some mention about PCloud and IceDrive is also worthy. Not sure if they fit all the characteristics that you explored here.

I got fed up using OneDrive after upgrading to Office 2019. Frequently when I would save a file that I retrieved from my local folder, Excel would give me an error stating that it was unable to save it on the OneDrive. So I would have to do a "save as" to the exact same folder I retrieved it from. Looking at what was happening more closely, the file path would actually be a link to the cloud rather than a path to the local file I was double-clicking on. Having failed to find a way to tell Excel to use the path of the local file, I simply just switched to Proton. Problem solved!

I just use onedrive for file synchronization and a local NAS for pictures. I tried using onedrive for my pictures but it constantly stopped syncing so i binned it off.

I'm using G and one Drive. I find that especially with 30M xlsm files the sync often fails and I lose data (sharing between home and work pcs). There's no way to nudge the app to sync and I cannot figure out how to resolve conflicts. G drive is difficult to figure out what is where. But as I use obsidian, G is great for managing the distributed vaults shared between tablet, smartphone and the 2 pcs

It's not for everyone but I use NAS to keep everything in the cloud that way I know what's going on.

If the recovery process can't be made to work, I know of no way to recover the account. If that's your situation I'm very sorry. hate google, tey constantly lose my photos, onedrive still has photos from nine years ago and sync seamlessly w my phone to chromebook
