Keeping the shock piston at the top can cause the diaphragm to rip bc of the negative pressure while fully extended. The best position for the piston for the safest operation is in the middle of its travel.

I love my 959's and 979's. Have 2 of each. 1 979 is the B version with the 540motor. Did shock upgrades, Dromida 4.5T wheels and tires, and lipo over li-ion for backyard bashing. It gets put through the punishment, and 2nd 979 i have done the works all around. Full aluminum upgrades on everything including wheels. Then the 2 959 buggy's got the same aluminum upgrades except for chassis, which opted for the carbon fiber upgrade. Both buggy's are brushless running a 2435 7200Kv sensorless motor on a 35A esc, metal geared 17g servos, 2s 7.4v 4000mah lipos, and the all aluminum 979 runs a 2838 4800kv motor on a 80amp esc, 11volt 3s 4000mah lipo. These things have been hours of fun. Only thing is have to diy a wheelie bar if u want to continue going straight instead of instant flip over, lol. Thats with truck tires that is. On my buggys i run shorter springs with a limiter band on each shock to the tower to keep it from full extend, and 1/10 scale wheels with touring car tires. I own a couple other WLtoys models, including heli's. They definitely make it possible for everyone to afford the once only doable by people with a healthy budget. Ive been a RC enthusiast for 20+ yrs, and for a good while, was only continuing the hobby with what ive build up in collection for years prior, which took time investment building each one, (prior to the RTR rc days. Lol. Where each RC was a diy kit only, no electronics, and assembly would take a good 2 to 3 hours, as you end up with sour finger tips, and blood clots from pliers slipping trying to snap on ball cups onto ball joints. Hahah) and cost was ridiculous compared to now days available options. Each of these wltoys 959 or 979, total cost after upgrades $280-$320 at the most. And i use a single Flysky 3GTB for all my RC's (I did the software flash and unlocked the 2o model save protocol, plus other hidden addons) And to think 1 of my first hobby grade RCs costed total of just around $1000, 20+ yrs ago. $400ish, for just the kit, $200 for the transmitter, receiver and servo. Then the Esc and motor easily another $200, and last cost $100ish for the battery and fast charger. And not even touching upgrades, except for the must being bearings. 1/10th scale was basically all that was at that time. So options were nowhere to even half of what exists now. Took me saving up 2 years of bday cash, christmas cash, and summertime job after i turned 16 to get it,. Oh and it was the Team Associated RC10T, back in 1997. Wow so long ago, haha. I love the rc hobby and where its come to now days. To be able to just pick up a RTR kit for under $70-$80 and already be so much fun out the box is amazing. Cheap, fast. (2 words never associated with hobby grade class RC's) not too long ago. Gosh i can still fell the pain of mechanical speed controllers, C cell Nicad and Nmih batteries with a 540 Mabuchi motor, if lucky got u to a whopping 10-12mph on a stretch. Hahahha. The struggles of the yester RC days, knowing i can easily reach 30mph out the box in the current.
@eli84175 жыл бұрын
Yo wat did you do with the original esc combo...no servo...from the original brushed A-959 B...
@JPSkriP5 жыл бұрын
@@eli8417 did just have all of them in a box till recently. The 979b still runs the stock electronics. Just a proper 540 motor, instead of the stock, with a lipo. And then Of the 3 sets of electronics i have, have 1 complete still in a box, and then i used 1 full set for my 1/24 monster truck build and partial set for 1/28 scale Xmods build. The 1/24 took all the electronics. Rx/esc/servo and 380 motor. But the xmods just the rx/esc and i plugged in a 5 wire micro servo from The Losi Micro T and works. I have the servos and motors just left over. But plan on swapping out the wltoys electronics from my xmods once i get the micro escs and 9G micro servos i ordered arrive. Already have mini receivers.

@airbornerc46544 жыл бұрын
@@dominicw8868Well, on eBay all you have to search is 35 wt shock oil. I also got blue metal swing arms on amazon, you can just search wltoys a979 or a959 metal swing arms. I even got blue metal differential cups and drive shafts, but I recommend not getting those, because on the car they're already metal anyway. I also got bigger wheels and blue upgrade shocks on amazon, too! You could also get upgrade metal pull rods, but I haven't done that yet. :)

Let's try this again, my last comment was pissy. sorry. I would absolutely recommend putting the oil in, but not a heavy oil. Any weight oil is going to be an improvement. I found mine lost the bounce completely, front and rear. (A959A.) But, It blew a shock out with the heavy oil. I have a new upgraded set on order and an A959B on order now too 😁. I did a "field repair" lol on the blown shock so it's driveable in the meantime. These cars are really fun for the price. I can see the limitations though, like not really meant to be taken off road, open brushed motor etc. But the parts are fairly cheap. And there's lots of upgrades available. Thinking I'll take it easy with upgrades though as the plastic parts are very forgiving. Great Vid. Man and sorry for the last bitch session. I removed it.

just get regular oil filled shocks...Then the metal gears kit...the metal center shaft is slightly too long..just grind it down a little bit.... I know you have 3650 and 60A esc laying around. Just glue old inner tube rubber to the inside of the tires to minimize ballooning.... Come on Kevin...make it do 80 MPH Or do a FY03 brushless conversion..it's a 1/12 war hammer clone. It already has metal differental. the virtruck is only $40..You can easily install a 2845 and 60A esc. Just lower the battery tray and rear shocks ( install 1/10 shocks)..Then mount MT wheels and tires to give is a wider stand....it's basically a brushless 1/12 UDR or Yati,,, for under $100....EVERYONE has a FY03.....except for Kevin.Lmao

A combination of 1000 cst oil and 1/18 big monster truck wheels/tyres, best RC car ever? I think that should be your new video.
