I think a 255/40/18 is a better choice for VBs. 255/35/18 is a smaller diameter than stock if you have the premium wheels

Just doing springs is the most affordable way of doing it but in my opinion you have to deal with poor ride quality. For the amount of work involved I would say save up and get a set of Tein coil overs for the budget choice. Overall it looks good. I'm still not in love with the rear tail light design or the cladding on the side. Other than that they look pretty good.

Hey Kevin! I love your content. I just installed my AFD springs yesterday early morning since I was so pumped to install. Took me 6 hours but I’m a new enthusiast and car guy. I watched the AFD video the jdm right hand drive and your video. By far your video was the most thorough and covered everything I needed. Thanks for helping me out ! Do you have an insta?

Is trimming the factory bump stops something to consider with springs like these? Mild drops seem to be 50/50 with modifying the stops with people.

I appreciate how much you've done to this thing to try and fix how it looks. To be completely honest I think it still needs work, they really did their best to make this thing look bunk from the factory. These lowering springs were a step in the right direction for sure. Idk if I'll be 100% happy with how it looks until it's wide bodied and on bags. 😂

What about the suspension geometry? Gonna be off and will need more adjustment with upgraded toe arms/control arms. To say it’s only $275 is a disservice. Need another $500 or so for the arms. IMHO with springs only you will be out of factory spec and the job is only half done.
@KevinVo Жыл бұрын
You can adjust the toe front and rear and the camber in the front with the oem components.

Hey Kevin, great content. Typically I’m seeing from a lot of people has their wheel spec as 18x9.5 +38. I’m not good at this stuff but I was looking to see if possibly the 18x9.5 +37 w/ 255x40 will fit with no rubbing? I’m also on lowering springs. Please help. Thank you in advance.

tape a string w/a weight (e.g. tie a nut to it) to the top of the fender; let it hang down; measure how much room you have from the tire to inner lip of the fender. 1mm difference should be fine.

do you have to get re aligned??
@K03sport5 ай бұрын
yes. any change that affects the position of the suspension arms/geometry should have an alignment to ensure the tires don't get eaten prematurely and the car drives/brakes straight. either $100 for an alignment or $700+ for tires, your choice.

@KevinVo Жыл бұрын
You can sometimes get away with using an impact, but sometimes like in my case it starts spinning it which can damage the seals.
@Subi_doo Жыл бұрын
@@KevinVo you can literally take the nut off with no spring compressor…. This is likely why you spin the piston in the shock. There virtually no load on the shock top with the spring in so what you said, makes sense.

No offense, and it is just my opinion, but doing mods that make your car worse and are popular, these are poser mods man. lowering your daily is so dumb, causes so many issues that take away from the car and for what? so it looks cooler? You can't even see it, you're driving it! Maybe, maybe if it were a show car, then maybe. It is 1" maybe 2" tops ever, and for that tiny difference people spend money, put in work, for a worse ride, a car that bottoms out way to easily, is hard to jack up and doesn't benefit at all in any way from doing it. I just don't get it. I watched a guy take a brand new $52k car and within 200 miles pull the suspension from the front end to add coil overs to drop it 1", the car had a dampening system and so perfectly engineered suspension that to tear it all apart to drop it 1" seems insane to me., you couldn't even tell it was dropped, lol.
@KevinVo Жыл бұрын
Here's how I look at it. At the end of the day, if modifying your car makes you happy and puts a smile on your face then do it! In all reality, these lowering springs don't cause any issues whatsoever and like I stated in the video they ride practically the same as stock and they're very comfortable. I also just took the car out the track and they performed very well. Since they don't lower the car an absurd amount there's no worry about rubbing or bottoming out and I personally can definitely tell the difference from stock ride height. Everyone has their own preferences though so if you enjoy cars in their stock form there's absolutely no problem with that and I can respect that!
