Why are people ripping on our accents? the U.P. is an awesome place. Yeah, we say things differently than you but we are probably the nicest people you'll ever meet. Don't judge a book by the cover.

I actually came here to compare accents between Upper Michigan and that of the Outer Banks. There are some similarities. But the OBX accent, which resembles a British one, is are more noticeable. And you're right. I have friends in the U.P. Some of the nicest people on the planet. And every Friday is fish fry, and they do it the best.

Feels so home abroad, but as a Native Fenno-sweed ( Finish native, with speaking both finiah and sweadish) i have to cringe om the pronounciation of the surnames ( not in a bad way, because how could they know)
@joejones56534 жыл бұрын
@Oliver Dreyer Yeah I feel the same way when it's just pronouncing some thing as simple as Italian. It's not pronounced *EYE-talian*

Joshua Corley No, you don’t get to be reductive. The European-Americans of the Upper Peninsula are largely of Scandinavian extraction. This is a fact, don’t bother trying to argue against it.
