Delighted. I'm twenty again ... but this style is not reducible to nostalgia, it's full of still current energy. Dark 'n' shiny.

I love KEXP, I love Not Novacula, just wish more bands like them would get the chance on KEXP or Tiny Desk, but the emancipation of this kind of music is still so hard, maybe coz the main taste will never like that.

What is a Novacula?
@scorpiocurse79692 ай бұрын
Novacula means "knife/blade" in latin. So, they meant "night of the knife" i suppose, but if so, then there's an error, because latin changes the end of the words to communicate the different grammatical informations, and the genitive possessive of "novacula" is "novaculae". So, it should be "nox novaculae". Another possibility is that they meant "night with a knife", then that would mean the novacula in the name is an ablative case, and it would be corret, but i doubt they meant it that way. Sorry for all this blanter...but i rarely get to use my knowledge of latin 😅
@te95912 ай бұрын
@scorpiocurse7969 no apology necessary. Your argument sounds convincing. I frequently break up the context of cultural words. Very recently, ive taken into a couple observations: The Greek name/word for Hydra, is suggestive of water. the a suffix is the feminine syllable added to Hydro. The Hydra itself is like an endless water serpent/monster. The Leviathan from the bible is a water serpent of chaos. See the similarities? Secondly, there is the slang word "dank" used to describe good cannabis. Id suggest this may have Germanic origins like the phrase "Danke". Danke means "thanks" in Deutsche. And there is the cannabis called "kind" like kindness or thankfulness.
