One of my very favorite bands at the moment and for some time to come, for sure. Sadly, the enormous wall of sound that is usually conveyed in their music is missing here b/c of the poor recording. Well, I'm glad that James' voice is just perfect and wonderful and recorded cleanly. Love these guys!

the main reason, that the guitar and the bass is kinda muted is probably that the KEXP (or someone else) recorded/uploaded just the mix going into PA system, which lacks the instruments played loudly on the stage (guitar and bass of course versus keys, you can hear keys clearly). I visited gig in Vienna and I can tell you, guitar and the bass were pushing from amps so loudly, you dont need it mixed in PA so much. just to mix them together to whole stage sound. with keys louder it sounds sometimes kinda ,,Cure-ish", I like that.
@MrJustinShields6 жыл бұрын
Saw them last night at the Troubadour and the guitar was mixed very similar. Mostly background static sound on many songs. I can hear the bass just fine in this video.

Exactly. The mixing is terrible. Guitar and bass lost and the synth too dominating
@hiqwertyhi7 жыл бұрын
It was mixed for the room, Andy's amp would be really loud (they're a bit notorious for that) so none of him, and of course tons of keys and vocals cause otherwise they couldn't be heard at all. Still a complete oversight to not record the tracks individually and re-mix in post. Really is frustrating, there isn't anything better so we're stuck with this
