Just found and fell in love with this band. So good to have such positive, new music in my life. One question for ya'll: does anyone know where to find the song "Kum Kanda"? It doesn't appear to be on either of their studio albums but I would very much like to jam it in the vehicle whilst I cruise around town. Thanks
@Borat4266 жыл бұрын
I think KEXP got the spelling slightly wrong. The track is called 'Kumukanda' and it's on their album 'Luyando'.

This is the best group in Zimbabwe at the moment. Its unfortunate that they are not being given the respect they deserve simply because they are coming from a minority ethnic group, the Tonga. They have made themselves noticed without the help of collaborations other artistes who have made already made it at the continental level (e.g some musicians have engaged the artistes like Diamond and Davido in order to be recognised, yet for Mokoomba their rise is attributed to pure talent not collaborations ) remember Lovemore Majaivan expressing his displeasure over lack of recognition because he is from Matabeleland. Seems his concerns were valid.
@Majimbosi7 жыл бұрын
Tafadzwa Gora they are good very good. But I feel it's unfair to suggest it's just because they are Tonga why we don't celebrate them. Very few Zimbabweans speak Tonga so context of their songs is always lost. However music is a universal language that's why their popularity is steadily growing back home. They have ndebele song as well so even them they are slowly singing for the masses. It's brilliant that they started with thier mother language and made it, it is also good that they are using the other languages of Zimbabwe. The lesson maybe should be all our various languages must be taught to the whole country as a whole

I am more inclined to agree with this notion. I then ask, what happened to their music guys like Chase Skuza, Majaivana, Jays Marabhini, etc. Apparently we are a bit biased on how we present the music on radio (thats radio DJ's). I only got to know of this group two weeks ago and i am addicted now to their music. Maybe its not abt collaborations with famous artists but realising those that rise because of efforts. My two sense
