Sam Sorensen nope, you’re wrong, peele and Daniel kaluuya both talked about this in interviews and promos for get out, especially focusing the comment the Dad makes in the film about voting for Obama for a third time. He included that in the film so that people could see and experience how awkward it is when someone makes such a comment to a black person. Its a common theme throughout the film, it’s not all about ‘stealing black people’s bodies’.

Jordan has stated in interviews that Get Out was borne out of exactly this type of behavior. He wanted to express how even people with liberal mindsets can, in their attempts to act progressive, still remind black people that they're different. It's funny, people like that are just as racist, but in a different way. They don't treat black people like normal people, all they see is skin color and then go out of their way to make sure they know that you're black. Racial oppression was horrible, of course it was, no one is arguing that, but to ignore the fact that this behavior is just as racist is what's keeping the problem alive.
@ejj99565 жыл бұрын
Red Hoodie “racial oppression is horrible no one is arguing that”...... sadly that’s not true. You have people like this who are annoying but you still have ACTUAL racists. Who would calls these guys n*** and tells them not to come around anymore and then you have the ones that are the opposite of these people and would tell black people about how they complain about racial oppression too much etc.... all in all you have a lot of people with different opinions on the subject but don’t get it twisted, the racist people are the only ones keeping it alive.
@vmp9165 жыл бұрын
A good definition of racism I heard recently was a system of power that gives advantage to people based on race. This helps us differentiate the belligerent example of not allowing a black person somewhere vs this sketch. So we can agree racism helps keep interactions like annoying and ignorant white guilt alive. This itself should be differentiated with white people having honest and productive conversations about race which is possible.

@@vmp916 "A system of power that gives advantage to people based on race"; That's the definition of "white privilege"- another word you liberals invented; which doesn't exist as much as you liberals want everyone to believe. Also, did you know that liberals believe it's impossible for black people to be racist? So if a black guy goes and shoots up a white church (which don't exist because that would be 'racist') liberals actually believe that is not a racist act, nor a hate crime. Because it's "literally impossible" for black people to be racist. That is the biggest load of horse shit I have ever fucking heard. Right up there with "cultural appropriation", which by the way doesn't exist. Fuck liberals, and fuck you, pussy ass little faggot.

Hilarious! And hits close to home. Funny that when the bartender said Black people make him uncomfortable, I said, "Thank you, man!" out loud before K&P did. :o) *True story:* I worked with a particular old white guy back in 2004, and someone upset me greatly so I filed a formal complaint. He calls me in his office to talk about it and starts speaking slang as if trying to relate to me. I'd been working with him five years at that point, so WTF? He said "No one is trying to 'diss' you" (among other things) and I didn't understand him. Later, I went home and asked my sons what all that meant. They translated. Then I went to work the next day and told DICK (his name) that I don't speak "BET" and that he should always converse with me utilizing standard English. Sheesh
@godswatching28636 жыл бұрын
I can't begin to put myself in your shoes it may have been exactly as you say. But I can tell you with experience being around white people mostly. A lot of times I see people do that and I think it's not because they're trying to be rude but because they just desperately want you too know you're safe with them and that they don't have any negativity in their heart against African-Americans. Unfortunately because they may not have many African Americans in their life they don't really know if they will relate to you so it puts them on edge and they end up trying too hard to relate. I don't feel like I have that problem but I know a lot of good people that do. Or maybe he was just an assface LOL

@Mendoza Juan You completely missed the mark of both the video and her comment. Nobody said anything about blacks owning slang. She clearly was relating to this video with her own experience as a black person. As a black girl, I've also noticed that some white people will suddenly start speaking with slang or lingo that they perceive as 'black', as if I wouldn't understand them if they just spoke normally. This makes us feel awkward ; they try too hard to relate to us because they are uncomfortable and/or don't personally know any black people, so they feel like they have to act differently when they really don't. This entire video is about that awkwardness.

Just in time for this black panther hype. Everyone's taking how revolutionary the movie is for casting black heroes not really talking about the movie being good lol. Fucking poetic.

It would have been great if Jordan said, "I was maybe 13 in 1992, so you're right about that."

@Magnificent Bastard Stop bullshitting. Tribes did indeed catch people from other tribes and sold them to Europeans, but the Europeans wanted that. They were looking for slaves. Fought a war to end slavery? You mean to say they weren't just going to peacefully abandon slavery and made a civil war just to be able to keep their slaves. Get your head out of your butt.
