The style used to convey such a message is subliminally deep and can tap into the inner workings of your fading innocence. The lighting plays a factor too which emphasizes the emotional upbringing of the performers. Little does the audience know that the announcer was acting as a sort of sentient being involuntarily provoking the audience with a simple metronome of a word, absolutely marvelous. The colors are in a way conveying the ideology of the two party system with an eager yet subtle take to it. The only other time I've been moved by such art was when I visited the gallery in a dirty alley way with a dead hobo that symbolized the tyrant rule of the street rats. Such beauty in this work 0/10 because art should never be an expectation, or ranked.

People don’t understand that this isn’t satire. It is a post-modern critique of our current capitalistic society that focuses heavily on creating modern slaves towards corporation. This is absolutely brilliant. The green represents dollar bills and the red represent passion. We see each day the two attempts to co-exist but simply can’t. Can one truly achieve passion and financial security? The silent dialogue represent our attempt to cover this up, to not speak about the current issue in our society. The ‘sugoi’ show that even being in pain, we must continue to obey our superiors because we are indeed drones. Absolutely fucking bravo. Genius.

I can 100% guarantee you that if they put up a show like this for those kind of audience who watch this kind of "art expression" they would not know it's a FKIIIN joke... They would still be amazed and react just like the actors audience reacted here.
@MegasReborn10 жыл бұрын
For those of you who don't understand this skit, It's pretty much making fun of the 'Modern Art" scene these days. They were pretty much saying that no matter how stupid and ridiculous your artwork is, you can slap a couple of words or even a story behind it and SOMEONE is going buy into it and praise it for being so "deep" and "thought-provoking". I know this from personal experience, I used to attend an art college. For example, there was a student in one of my art classes who did a performance piece in which he slammed a chair on the floor for 10 minutes straight. I kid you not, that was the only thing he did for 10 minutes. After he finished, the student said "I wanted to capture the vicious turmoil that rages in society today." My teacher along with the entire class erupted in applause. I'm thinking to myself "Am I missing something here, all I saw was a chair being slammed continuously on the floor for 10 straight minutes. Maybe I'm crazy." Anyways, just thought I'd share that to anyone who was confused about this skit. Props to Key and Peele for doing this.

This makes me think back to a year ago when me and my friend went to a show, where he was asked to write a letter to a dead character, and he was supposed to recite it very seriously. We made up the most ridiculous, over-the-top, artys poem with platitudes and empty meaning we could think of. We hoped people would clap and be amazed. We didn't expect the ovation he received. I had to use all my bodily might to hold back the laugh I was supressing while watching the reactions. It's so funny to see how far people are willing to go and accept ridiculous things as 'high art'.

Dicknanigans was an unforgettable blend of agit-prop, anti-style and dadaist theatre. I had no time to think. Everyone in the audience was whispering a stream of profundities or invective. Some were uttering both. The subtext was luminous, the physicality as rough and unforgiving as hessian underwear. I'll never, ever forget whatever it was trying to impart.

Now the real question; is this a critique of the avant-garde elitists and the modern art movement, or of the ubiquity of juvenile dick jokes? Does it perhaps demonstrate that both, while claiming to shock our common sensibilities and therefore be inherently worthy, in fact engage in endless repetition of recognizable tropes? That both are ultimately devoid not only of meaning but originality? That in their effort to break away from the mainstream, they in fact both become painfully colloquial? Truly, a sophisticated masterpiece performance.

Key and Peele actually bring up a good point here. The constant nut kicking show a deep comprehension of society. The 2nd act goes into so much detail about the science of life and materialism. The 3rd act is reflection upon the idea that love is more than just a chemical that makes you want to mate. It’s such a beautiful tragedy, actually.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Dicknanigans. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of postmodernist philosophy most of the jokes and messages will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also green guy's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Dicknanigans truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in red guy's existential catchphrase (0:46), which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as red and green guy's genius wit unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

I had a guess that a lot of it was just BS and preferred to spend time on subjects like computer science and history that I knew had intrinsic value.
