I started with the controller but I noticed I wasn't moving as fast as other players. So I decided to switch to keyboard. Invested a little bit on a mechanical keyboard and no more problem with movement speed. Just as you said in the video, with the keyboard you are able to do the directional buttons faster than on the controller, I noticed this to be true. Aiming with the keyboard takes some time to get used to but it's not a huge learning curve. Whereas not being able to move fast enough to match your opponent speed; really throws your game. As least that's how it is for me.

Honestly scythe is pretty damn hard on controller unless you can mod your analog to move round faster. Everything else becomes pie and what not after a bit of practice but scythe is just overall difficult to take full advantage of like the active inputs. Fast fallings a bitch too since your analog only resets when you bring it back to the centre

I prefer keyboard and mouse. I tried controller, but it just felt so weird (that MIGHT be because I tried controller after I had gotten used to keyboard and mouse). Also, don't even get me started on how keyboard alone is clunky, difficult, and uncomfortable. Even though I've been mainly a console gamer almost my whole life, I've moved on to pc, and I'm as comfortable as I have ever been (yes, I have played smash bros a lot).

In my opinion the 8 directions are a benefit for Keyboard and not for the Controller, because you have the Key combination on Keyboard and it works but for controller, if I'm trying to throw something to the bottom left for example it often registers as down throw and it messes everything up

When you've been playing platformers with a controller for literally 30 years, the thought of doing it with a keyboard is lunacy. :) The one thing I find funny, though, is that the comparison is usually made between a standard xbox controller and pro gaming keyboards. Shion Kreth as valid as your comment is, there is little difference between a standard Xbox controller (admittedly the example used in this video is slightly out of date) and a professional controller, as most standard controllers are built with the same intentions as pro keyboards - respond with speed and precision. Most pro controllers on the market aren't worth the price as the increase in speed and precision is minuscule at best.

Regardless, we could still use a good variety of shapes and configurations of controllers that are at least up to the standard of an xbox one controller to suit everyone's preferences; like for myself I prefer the old style button/stick layout over the xbox layout.

I made an interesting discovery as i tried switching to keyboard. Lucian said one advantage of the keyboard is that you can just sit down and play without having to buy a further gadget. Well that's partly true. When i started playing on my ~7 year old standard office keyboard from DELL, it was extremely hard to get used to it. When i tried the way newer mechanical gaming keyboard at my friend's place, it was enlightening. Felt so nice and easy to play with it. Long story short: if you try keyboard, you might have a better experience on a high quality and maybe even mechanical one

Its a fighting game and unlike a FPS, you arent limited by your preference unless its a design flaw. But any modern day controller can contest any modern day keyboard/fight stick when it comes to any fighting game.

But the main difference imo is that on keyboard and mouse is you can have 2 different key binds for dash and dodge but with controller it's the same button so you will mess up your dodge/dash sometimes on controller and not on keyboard and mouse

The laptop's keyboard is what I play with and I use the arrow keys for attacking. Left Arrow - Light Up Arrow - Heavy Right Arrow - Throw 0(on numpad) - Dodge/Dash Takes a bit to use but once you get used to it. It becomes very comfortable and not too tight because of default settings for keyboard.

Okay so here's my understanding of it: Use whatever you are used to. I grew up playing games with wasd and a mouse so that's what I use. Just make sure that you try them as early as possible. I played a lot of rythym based games for years, so my timing is very precise on a mouse. If input lag really seems like a problem, then maybe you want to consider keyboard and mouse. However, this may also seem uncomfortable given the distance between hands. Keyboard has faster response, but don't just rule out controllers because of that. I'm a rocjet league player too though, and I can't even begin to imagine playing keyboard. Some games favor keyboard/keyboard and mouse, others favor controller. Rocket League favors controller. Brawlhalla favors nothing so go and enjoy the game the way you want. (P.S. I played Rocket League for 200 hours with keyboard and mouse. It took me weeks to switch but it was worth it in the long run.) Oh yeah and sorry for making this a damned essay lol

To be honest (If anyone is watching this in 2021 and is debating what to use) use controller because it will end up translating to other fighting games much easier. With the controller is easier to learn to jump dair and nair while moving. Also the jump button and quick/sigs buttons are just a cm away, so its easier to jump and attack. And the antigravity key its really easy to use in controller

I also feel like when you’re on keyboard it’s easier to do the exact attack you want consistently, maybe I’m tripping but if you’re analog stick is a little off you do the whole wrong move so you have to get good at putting the analog stick in the spot it need to be. @@vexial12 depends on how much you play and how easy you learn new things, it took me a few weeks to fully adjust my biggest recommendation is before you play online just go into a game alone and jump around the stage moving like you’re in a game, gets you used to things a lot quicker than trying to learn in the heat of the moment

@@yearoldsinger I might just have my plat friend join a custom with me and whoop me around for a whole day. But yea week one and I really want to go back to controller. But I'm hard stuck gold and so tired of making wrong inputs when I know what I want to do.
