I bought this new back in the days and after so many years (and many Tyrosses/Genos en Motifs later) I still LOVE this keyboard. So simple and intuitive!

Thanks for your comment! I think this keyboard is better than most of the entry level yamaha keyboards of today, the keyboard that was released about 2 years after this one is the PSR-510 which I also got but I still think the PSR-500 is better and I agree with you, this keyboard has better features than the entry level keyboards of today and it is more fun to use, if I didnt have this keyboard and I had a choice between this one and a later model, I would definitely go for the PSR-500!

Even though you don’t play keyboard, at least you still appreciate the sounds, especially the sounds from the DX7 that defined the 80s, such a brilliant synth and well sought after, I’m glad I got one over 10 years ago, and at least you have a keyboard yourself in which I believe you use the rhythms as backings for your guitar practice 🎹🎸🎹🎸👊🏻😝👌👍

Wow, it really is interesting to see the quality difference between this and the newer videos. I still like this vid though. I love my 500 but I really wish the timing was more stable. The 4500 has perfect timing, as does the 680, whereas the 500 and (to a lesser extent) the 790 has quite wobbly timing.

Ohh nice! I got one of those in 1992 and i sold it in 1998 to buy a 530. The feature i needed in the second keyboard was a 16-track sequencer that the 530 didnt have. My 500 was a great item. My bad was that i didnt took piano lessons.

Yes the PSR-500 has the exact same voices as the PSR-400, few differences between the 2 keyboards are that the PSR-500 had a few reverb effects, it also had multi pads instead of drum pads and the PSR-500 had 4 page memories on the left hand side of the keyboard whilst the PSR-400 only had 2. Hope this helps :)

It's a worn out part (like felt or rubber under the key). Those parts have to be replaced. A repair person might be able to fix it, but you'd have to find someone dealing with vintage keyboards.
