I am glad some of the keeb youtubers finally said that there is nothing wrong with stiff builds. I find them very nice for gaming, especially paired with some flat key caps.
@Keybored11 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's all about preference and no right or wrong honestly!
@mr629110 ай бұрын
If you like some uniform profile keycaps, try some DOYS keycaps. I just wish they had legends. I recently had these and have been enjoying them on a gaming board (but only if you know where stuff is without looking).

Glad to see this - my favorite board in my selection is a stiff, all-alu top-mount. I have some bouncy boards, but they aren't objectively better in any way. Overly-bouncy boards are big in the community now, but I can't help thinking they'll go from the end-all, be-all to a semi-popular option over the next year or so, in the same way super-tactile switches did a while back.
@vanthoang72111 ай бұрын
Just built mine today, the LED blocker can be removed and the black piece covers half, just remove it if you want the full LED. Thanks for the Video, Scott!

just took the blocker out. still not sure what they were going for having it half blocked like that.
@APurpleSpy11 ай бұрын
when i got around to building a board myself early last year and started seeing the trends towards all of this bounce and flex cut stuff it weirded me out tbh. I got the chance to try one out and was NOT a fan. I love the board i built with a very solid brass plate and minimal bounce.
@Keybored11 ай бұрын
This will be a good option for you!
@albertko111 ай бұрын
imho stiff typing experience isn't bad as long as the bottom out isn't harsh. Some switches, the plate, and of course the mounting do make a difference. That brass plate and 1.6mm PCB are probably doing a lot of work to give this board big sound. Yet another interesting board providing good value and options.
@maxmalkav11 ай бұрын
I am trying to keep in rotation some of my older (and quite stiff) keyboards, trying to find which switches and keycaps improve the experience. I have a KBD67 Mark II with brass plate, as stiff as it gets, but I am enjoying it with some KTT Grapefruit switches. Funny thing is that neither the board nor the switches are top class, specially for today standards .. but they work quite OK together. I think it is interesting to upgrade or retrofit some of these old keyboard glories.

The three holes in the bottom are, from what I heard, for the bluetooth wireless connection or it at least helps it. Most boards implement an antenna in the front facing side of the pcb or sometimes even on the plate. Instead this board has it on the bottom of the pcb

Hey, love the vid, its so surprising hearing yours since there had been a few others I've heard that are way different, it might very much be the switch, and dang that's loud! Hearing others are tad bit softer, I thought it might've been due to the holes (sound leak instead of reverb), now convinced it's otherwise. Not sure if I'd pick one up for myself but glad to see the return of value sound-focus keebs, instead of screen+knob stuff under 200. Thanks for the vid scott! 😁

As someone who realy likes the tactility of mechanical keyboard stiff is the way to go, even the weakest of flex gasket mount feels so terriblLY... weak. slap an alu (iron/steel even) plate mounted, non-flex PCB, tactile or clicky with no less than 70g actuation force? HEAVEN.

I have to confess that I still don't get bouncy keyboards. They feel cheap under my fingers, like they might snap at any moment. I like stiff keyboards because they feel solid and sturdy. The correct amount of softness is usually provided by the switches themselves, for me.

Thanks for this video. Mine just arrived today and I am still deciding if I would build this with the PC plate or the alu plate, but the alu plate I ordered was a conventional layout one so if I chose to build it with it, it won’t be the southpaw layout. Nonetheless, I am excited to build this!
