Ngl the stock sound reminds me of the Uni days when you'd hear peoples nails hitting the super thin Macbook keyboard. Using the case/cover was super smart. Wouldn't be surprised if Asus does something similar for a future iteration.

This video kinda makes me want to mod up some of my current and future boards again! I've missed these kinds of modding videos, always really creative ways and ideas to enhance a lackluster board

I have the keyboard and have zero issues with it. Best keyboard I've bought, I love the low profile feel to it. The original keyboard sound's before modding sounded better to me the modded one sounded thocky.

same the modded version sounds bit " rattly" to me , i would just add some space bar foam , do the case mod and call it a day

Before I really got into custom keebs, I used the original Falcion 65% because it was one of the only options that offered tri-mode connectivity at the time and I really enjoyed it. This review is kinda making me miss it a little bit, and I do have to say I really am tempted by the low profile. The included travel cover and small profile in general made that original 65%er great for lan parties, and I can see this being an even better option. Still, it's rather expendy, so I might wait for a sale but even as someone with too many keyboards already, I might have to pick this up.

I've always been curious about Asus' proprietary switches. Do they feel like a typical scissor? How do they compare to Kailh's X scissors or Cherry's MX ULP switches? Since unlike most scissors these actually have a stem-like block, how much wobble do they have, or do they succumb to the typical wobble scissor caps have? I wish Asus would sell there switches, just so that people could try them outside of buying an Asus board, and that maybe a keycap ecosystem could be built around bare switches given the boards using these switches are fairly low yield in comparison to anything using MX or chocs; it's a mix of an issue of nobody in the wider market having these switches and everyone in the specific market being the type to not swap their keycaps out.

love this video Scott, feels like a classic Keybored style modding that we all love! I’d also contend that with the proliferance of force break mods built into boards nowadays, somebody owes you something! Thanks for making this hobby better for everyone with your creativity and ingenuity!

maybe I missed it, but given the keycaps are the only ones that will ever live in this keyboard, why didn't you mention what material they're made from? i.e. are they going to get shiny

Hi Scott, I liked this vid because it's great to see someone experimenting with the RX - thanks. It sounded great modded! I like it's quietness as it is personally, but I'd quite like to try changing the feel. I'd be really grateful if you know a place I could get those gaskets without having to take them out of a keeb? Alternatively, maybe you could suggest something else that would have a similar effect?

I think this keyboards main problem are its switches. A gaming keyboard should have the analogue/ hall-effect switches popularized by wooting. A real innovation would have been a low profile version of that switch.

@coyotex85011 ай бұрын
Those switches arent necessary with lp boards because of its already low travel distance
@keerthan755811 ай бұрын
The travel distance of the switch is already very low so i don't see a point in doing that.

The benefits of a hall effect switch would also exist with less travel

Hey Scott, A little background I'm the punch every key (I only go for above 70g actuation force) kind of guy, the more the keyboard punches back (hence my preferred boards are top/plate mounted with metal plates), the better. As for weariness... oddly enough the softer the tactily the more strained my hands are. Got any mods that could stiffen gasket only boards?

I bought the original ROG Falchion for $150. It was a cool keyboard (albeit flawed), but I certainly paid the early adopter fee on that one. It really was a $100 keyboard at most. I suspect this is the case with the RX Low Profile as well especially since ASUS is using proprietary switches as opposed to the Cherry MX of the original Falchion. I can't see that the keyboard is really worth $170 when there are way better options at that price point and that's also taking into consideration all of the built in features. If this keyboard was selling for $120 I would highly consider a purchase because there were a few things that I really enjoyed about the original Falchion and this seems to improve on all of the faults of the original. Either way, your modding is pretty genius and getting that kind of sound out of a low-profile keyboard was really impressive. Thanks for the video!

I can't understand why in 2024 the expensive keyboards still don't offer standard the option of a 4-split spacebar that the user could switch for the single standard spacebar. For people who prefer to use their strong thumbs instead their weaker pinkies for Enter, Shift and Backspace, beside Space.
