Was feeling uncomfortable when you were putting tape. Feeling that board might break . Great vid. Might suggest that when you are doing the final typing tests, Have a sequence of what keys you are hitting, and have a comparision from before the mod was done. So that it would be easier to see how much it was improved.

I quite like your final product. Dig those Nintendo 'ish keycaps. Sweet! Sort of wish you would have given us a 10-15 second peek how the keeb illuminated under low-level light as those keycaps did not seem even faintly translucent. Thanks for the video. Oh yeah, like your brother I always want a fully functional numpad. Anyone who works with heaps of numbers have no patience typing columns of digits using the number row on the main part of the keyboard. It's just too darn slow. Again, thanks!

Super! Thanks for the video. But I don't understand why you need a double layer of scotch. And what could you advise to make this keyboard as quiet as possible?
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! So when doing the tape mod, you can create a slightly different sound depending on how many layers of tape you use! I think most people tend to use around 3 layers? In terms of making it quiet, I probably wouldn’t use the tape mod and I’d get silent switches! And maybe adding some case foam as well!

Awesome video! Love the voiceover personally! I have been looking at getting this keyboard for my wife for her everyday driver for work. My one concern in the ping from the aluminum case. You lessened that in your build, but do you have any recommendations on how to lessen that even more? I like a little more “thoccy” sound lol. More muted I suppose. Thanks again for the great content!
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
Wow thanks so much for your feedback! 😁 Regarding your question: I definitely prefer thoccy sounding keebs for sure! I’d recommend two things; 1. Try swapping the aluminum plate for a Pom or polycarb one like this: www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjUvdLC-Mf_AhVoK9QBHaX7Da4YABAEGgJvYQ&ae=2&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESbeD2WuR1kZ70D2DjvRjV2FPCOh3Unc4zpgkSCwPlh0OG1LhMJtMDoZy65dabDoP5MSdRCtUv88RiCmu1xODNQsodInmDFb09e4jlBtGIwPIV3G5R10D2TzIjhGragRTxzj7bkq5J9l6L9q8xr4I&sig=AOD64_1QLsxUOPwzs4UNlarqy5ivDrbOsA&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjkrMbC-Mf_AhW3l2oFHRLjBx0Qwg8oAHoECAEQDA&adurl= 2. Add some foam to the case. I have been trying out a few different options one my Akko 3068b keeb. I have never been a fan bc of the aluminum plate and the sound that comes with it. But I ordered this foam from Amazon and man, it actually made the board sound super thoccy and gave it a much lower pitch sound profile! Here is the link: amzn.to/3N6tKJ8
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
Now, you definitely don’t HAVE to get that specific foam, but I have found that it tends to make everything I use it on, sound super thoccy. I plan on making a video about it soon. Either way; thanks so much for the feedback and I hope you wife LOVES whichever keeb you choose!

Hi! Thank you for watching & thank you for the feedback 🥹💖 regarding the electrical tape-yeah, you’re definitely right! I have discussed this with another viewer in the comments on this same video (I think it was this video lol) anyways yeah a lot of people seem to go back and forth on that topic specifically. Loved the video. Just got my K10 Pro, its my first "customy type" keyboard and Im super stoked with it. Would the holee mod replace the dielectric grease? Dont have any on hand and krytox + some tools arrive tomorrow. Kinda torn on what treatment I should use on the stabilizers. Tons of different mods out there. I´ll definetly try the tape mod and work on the stabilizers of the spacebar, since its the only thing bothering me with this keyboard.
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
Yay!! I’m so glad! I hope you love ittt 😍 So, I’m personally SO BAD at modding/tuning stabs. I think the holee mod would be a perfect alternative to the dielectric grease! I keep failing my holee mod attempts so I’ve decided to just let it go for now Loll. I’ve seen a lot of people using krytox on their stabilizer wires so you could also try that as well! I’d love to hear how it sounds when you’re done, you should totally post a yt short or something so we can see!!
@Rakku Жыл бұрын
@@Meerkatkeebs I´ll try to do that! Didnt you have any concerns regarding the tape mod on a keyboard with a battery? Im reading a lot of mixed comments about that. Many say the tape mod is a fire hazard with a batterry, so now Im unsure about it.
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
@@Rakku yeah I’ve been back and forth on that one a lot! I tend to just tape mod anyway, and try to avoid the battery/connection area. I tend to use most of my keyboards wired, so if I do tape mod a board that’s tri mode, I usually just don’t re-connect the battery. That’s mostly my anxiety, but I’ve never had an issue with tape and my bt boards. It does make me wonder tho. Now I am like side eyeing my battery boards with tape 👀
@Rakku Жыл бұрын
@@Meerkatkeebs Haha, yeah. I try to look at it scientificly. The K10 Pro has a plastic housing, other plastic materials and foam in it. If something like tape could catch fire, wouldnt the rest without the tape also do that? Like, would it actually make any difference? I mean I get it, paper on battery = bad. But plastic and foam around batteries dont sound any better. I guess Im going to look up the flammable point of plastics and masking tape now, lol.
@Meerkatkeebs Жыл бұрын
@@Rakku YOU HAVE SUCH VALID POINTS Omgg 😭 rethinking my life rn!! Heavyyy on the plastic and foam doesn’t sound much better 😩 I’ve seen some people mention using electrical tape? hey, you sound like a genuine person. Would you be interested in making me a keyboard like you made your brother? and of course, il pay you? I'm Interested in a full-size keyboard, just like your brother but I want it modified in a way to make as minimal clicking noise as possible. I want the keys to still have a smooth travel distance and still be smooth and fast to type with " average 100 WPM" but with no clickie noise. I see videos where some people modify the keyboards and call it "THOC" noise? I'd like it to sound something similar to that or even quieter. I'm a 911 operator and my keyboard quality is very crucial when it comes to performance. Right now, I'm using a razer keyboard called black widow, it allows me to type crazy fast, i love it but the noise is driving me nuts when I need to listen to the radio transmissions and type at the same time. let me know, thank you.
