i think keychron made a series of very smart decisions with this keyboard. low profile attracts mac/laptop users. choice of different switches (with limited hot swap option) attracts hobbyists. optical switches and 1000hz polling rate attract gamers. portability attracts people who have the "always on the go" life style. and those consumer types aren't mutually exclusive. if you tick more than 2 of those boxes, this keyboard will look more and more like your ideal choice. i've owned it for a few months now. it's excellent wherever i take it.

Great video. Would love to have seen you use the switch tester, to hear the other switches and help everyone make a decision. I ordered a K3 a week ago with the orange switches, the leather pouch and the switch tester without seeing any review about the orange switch. That's why I ordered the switch tester, so I can decide later if I need to swap to another color.
@MatthewMora4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Good point and a complete oversight by me. I'll record and upload a quick clip of the tester set sound and put it in the description or cards of this video when I get some time. The travel pouch looks nice and would be very handy though I really should've ordered it with the keyboard to save on shipping.

Great video! I have a K1 on my desk right now with brown switches. I love the low profile mechanical keyboard. I've had my eye on the K3 ever since I heard about it. The plastic bottom kind of worries me. The K1 has a full aluminum frame (except the end caps) that gives it a very sturdy and premium feel. But I really like the smaller footprint of the K3. Still not sure if I'll switch.

I wanted the k1 TKL, but ultimately got the k3 because reviews said they had far less key wobble. has that been an issue for you?
@chriscasillas3 жыл бұрын
@@colemowery If you grab an individual key and try to wobble it, it definitely has some wobble. When you're just typing on the keyboard, it's not noticeable to me at all.

Are the blue switches too loud or abnoxious? I ask this because this will be my first time purchasing a keyboard, I mainly use it for typing but occasionally for gaming. Are blue switches too loud to type or focus. Also where do you buy the low profile switches.
@MatthewMora3 жыл бұрын
I’m used to the clicky sound from the blue switches but I can see them being too loud if you share a space with someone else. Call me crazy but I’ve always loved the clicky sound and almost found it soothing lol. But I’ve kept the white switches on for the last few weeks as a change and starting to really enjoy the quieter keyboard. The low profile switches for this board can only be purchased from keychron at the moment.
@SomeBleu3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, blue switches are pretty loud for new users. I’d recommend either brown if you like to feel feedback on your presses while being quiet.

great video, is it worth wating for optical browns to restock or just buy mechanical browns as mechanical browns are the only ones in stock at the moment :(((((
@MatthewMora4 жыл бұрын
The mechanical browns feel good on my tester set but I prefer the optical browns. Wow, looks like all optical switch options are sold out right now...if you're thinking about going for the gateron mechanical browns just note that they are not hot-swappable :(
@alirally12634 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewMora yeah that’s true, are the optical browns more ‘tactile’ because I don’t want it to be loud but still want to get a response from the keys
@MatthewMora4 жыл бұрын
@@alirally1263 the optical browns feel more tactile than the mechanical browns imo. The optical browns are pretty quiet and they sound a touch louder than the linear optical whites in the video.
@alirally12634 жыл бұрын
@@MatthewMora cool I’ll wait for the optical browns then, have you considered making a video out of the switch tester ??
@mariasxhmh4 жыл бұрын
I placed an order with optical browns just before they went out of stock, but from the looks of it I will still have to wait at least a month before the keyboard is shipped - let alone delivered. The switch comparisons were not really available on reviews or online info, so anyone who can provide some more input on comparing them than just sound would be appreciated by a lot of indecisive buyers. I wasn't sure about the browns myself, but decided to risk it since I could at least swap them out to something that I would consider better in the future. As a backup, I also ordered a set of orange switches sinc according to the specifications their actuation force should be closer to the keyboards I use currently (which is almost perfect for me) compared to the blues.

Hi, thanks for the great review. Can I check with you how has your experience been with the bluetooth connectivity? Any dropped connections or latency when typing? The keyboard I have always goes into standby mode and the 2-3 second delay to get it to respond really frustrates me haha! Was wondering if the Keychron K3 had the same problems. Thanks!

From my experience, all Keychron keyboards have a auto sleep feature but you can turn this off. I believe if you press fn + S + O all at the same time for 3 seconds, it should turn it off.

I've had this for several months now. Looks nice but the key caps are tiny and the typing action unsatisfying. Gimmicks over substance.
@JimIBobIJones3 жыл бұрын
Have to say my experience is quite the opposite. I have a couple of full size mechanical keyboards (Cherry blue, cherry browns and Logitech Roamer G) for my computers at home and bought the K3 for office use (we hot-desk, and the shared keyboards get a bit gross). The keys are lower but the "surface area" is pretty much the same size as a normal keycap. With the wrist-rest, the typing experience is pretty close to a normal mech keyboard. The shroter actuation and travel could take a bit of getting used to, but the experience is quite similar to "gamery" full size swiches with faster/shorter actuation. It makes more of a difference if you prefer/are only used to "classic" switches like Cherry blues, browns, reds etc.

@ThorsShadow3 жыл бұрын
For a mechanical keyboard, this is insanely budget. Look at your standard "gaming" mechanical keyboard. They are 150 to 200 or more bucks. Most non-gaming mechanical keyboards often also cost 100~120 bucks. Keychron's keyboard cost below 100 bucks.
@danm53863 жыл бұрын
@@ThorsShadow couldnt agree more! Companies like Corsair, Razer, and many more lean mostly to making keyboards for gaming. However, with this K3 this is more like a minimalistic, productivity, not to much RGB keyboard that is perfect for anyone that also want a slim keyboard profile
