I believe, that the K3 Pro has a metal upper deck and a plastic bottom, I was looking at mine.... The Keychron has a sign through option for their K3 Pro (and a slew of other models). I have the Redragon K652 that I have taped already, something I am planning to do with the K3 Pro. But with all these updates, the K3 Pro comes close to 200 Canadian as well. Via and QMK will take all the options possible that the Options+ software has. I guess for the office worker, neither keyboard would be allowed as they are quite noisy. I just took some keycaps off, and the K3 Pro definitely has a metal upper deck.

I was going to pull the trigger on the mx mechanical mini, because I was searching for a slim mechanical wireless keyboard and I prefer having a 2.4 dongle over bluetooth. But I went to a store that had them and tested it. It felt incredibly mushy. The brown switches on them didn't give any tactile feedback. It almost felt like those 10€ rubberdome Keyboards you often find in schools. Going back on the internet, I find nothing but positive reviews, which makes me wonder if that test unit in the store was broken, or if I really don't like it.

I have MX Mechanical Mini and Keychron K3 v2 (not Pro), both on brown switches. By accident I bought both of them at the same time around 1y ago. At the beginning I liked Keychron switches more. But after time I got used to ‘spongy’ feeling of MX Mechanical brown switches and actually I think it makes me type faster now. My fingers ‘slide’ from one key to another. Sometimes I get Keychron out of drawer for a couple of hours, it feels good when you press individual keys or short messages. But when I start typing fast my fingers want their MX Mechanical back.😅

Thanks for the comparison. Helped me decide on the K3 Pro. At least here in germany it seems to be the only low profile keyboard with our layout, that also offers hot swap switches, so i could upgrade later on to other switches like the Kailh POM ones from Lofree. (until Lofree offers their keyboards with DE-ISO layout as well) Another thing that is imo mentionworthy is that Keychrons more Premium ABS switches hold up VERY well. I am currently using a Q3 and even the caps on WASD look barely different from when they arrived half a year ago and have a very silky smooth texture, what makes them really nice to use. And i would bet my ass that there is an autorun software out there that opens all your programs at startup and remembers their placements. And the light sense from the Logitech is a mixed bag for me. I own the MX Keys Mini (the flat little brother of the Mech) and it often cant decide if it wants to be on or off and that results very often in slow blinking for me, what can get kinda annoying at some point. ;D
@jeffhicks84283 ай бұрын
I'm not a keyboard guy but I have a few keyboards. Only one "mechanica" I got the logitech mx mini mechanical with the brown switches. It's by far the worst keyboard I have ever used in terms of actually typing on it. the reason being is that the keys are triggered so easily, by a gust of wind it seems, as such I make what seems like 10x more typos on that thing than anything else. and I've had it for a long time now. Idk why I waited so long to get something else but I am glad I did. Even a $30 logitech popkeys or whatever is vastly better to type on and less noisy. I settled on the regular non mechnical mx mini, which is an excellent little keyboard. I have no issue with any of the Apple keyboards, or any other keyboard really. I only use macbooks or thinkpads, both have good keyboards, but also the apple magic keyboard, which is good to. IDK what the issue is with that mx mechanical, if all mechanicals are like that or what. Why is it so easy to make typos on that thing? Are all mechanical keyboards that easy to trigger? I mean literally the slightest touch of a finger just grazing the keys triggers it.

Both have bluetooth, sure... However, in my experience, bluetooth is not the same as bluetooth... some devices loose pairing or take a long time to wake up etc... so to me, the question is: do they booth have good bluetooth ir is one of them better than the other? Battery... I got two keyboards from one of Keycrons competitors (NuPhy) and after about a year both swelled up, clearly indicating that the batteries they had put in them were of low quality and effectively make them fire hazards. I feel comfortable truting Logitech in this area. Perhaps Keychron is also good in the battery department, but I do not know that to be a fact. That would be very interesting to know. Other than that, good review.

Logitech's keyboards used to stand for quality but it seems like they've been going downhill. They've been overpricing their keyboards while simultaneously cutting corners lately with terrible quality on the keycaps and buggy hardware. Logitech's auto sensing is really buggy in their MX keyboards. It keeps randomly turning on and off even if nobody is there. Next time you come up to use your keyboard, it's already drained a lot of battery. It's a well known issue you'll find if you search for it online. Their software also isn't particularly special. It also locks some of its features (like the smart actions) unless you create an account, which is ridiculous. It's a keyboard. Why would you need an account just to have macros? Keychron's stock keycaps not being shinethrough is kinda disappointing.
@bringoff5 ай бұрын
Keychron is just better if you know something about keyboards. Backlit sensor is a gimmick - just press Shift or something to turn lights on. Logi Options app is trash - apart from the fact it has to run in background, it regularly freezes on my Mac. And obviously it’s not very flexible in terms of keys remapping. I’ll take VIA over it all day any day
@davek58994 ай бұрын
But it's too bad that anybody who knows something about keyboards also knows that Keychron's bluetooth/wireless connectivity is dogshit compared to Logitech. Logitech nails it in this area. That's a reason a lot of people will pick Logitech over Keychron anyday.
