Keychron Q1 Pro - A Beginner's Take on Keyboarding

This review of my Keychron Q1 Pro turned into a beginner’s take on a beginner’s guide to mechanical keyboards.
I’m still learning as I go and having a fun time doing it!
Spoiler Alert: I like Keychron boards.

Just built a Keychron Q5 Pro with Sea Salt quiet linier and I love it. It's my second build, my first was a KBFans Odin R2, and I also love it. The Keychron is for work as they assigned me a laptop. Now if I can get the person in the office beside me to get on (even if I have to build it for him) the office will be a happier place for me. He's using an old Logitech noise maker. Sounds like someone shaking a box of chicklets, that was the most accurate description I got from someone I was doing a virtual meeting with. Nice job reviewing the Q1 Pro. The Q5 has the best 96% layout. Awesome choice! What color did you get and what keycaps do you have on it today?

Excellent informational video! I just added the Acoustic kit to my Q1 pro and it's definitely deepened the sound quite a bit without affecting the gasket performance. I used lubed Glorious Pandas for months but while I had everything opened I put in some WS Morandi linears and they sound and feel amazing! It's definitely different than the tactiles but nice for a little bit of a change.

Nice! I just now watched a Kinetic Labs video using those same switches and they sound great!! I have some on the way this week that I plan to lube and place on this board. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate your kind words.

Yo well done on the review. Did you do any other mods other than tape mod? How do you feel they affected the sound of the board?

Thank you! For the Q1 I also put in some owlabs stabilizers and doubled up on the force break mod. It continues to be a work in progress though…the backspace is just a little sticky still.

I got the Q1 Pro about 6 months ago. Its a great board but I have switched out the switches to Quinn which are a heavier tactile switch ( Had the banana's) and am looking for a different keycaps. I built a neo65 and fell in love with the feel and sound and trying to replicate it in the Q1. Haven't taped the pcb yet. May try it. Trying to get the marbly sound.

Try the Acoustic Upgrade kit, it's only like $10 I think from Keychron but shipping is almost the same price. I installed it into my Q1 Pro today and it made a major sound difference!

Bro it's been awesome watching your channel grow! Also Ive been looking at the Q1 pro, but I can't find any info on the RGB modes. Does this board have a white light setting?

Thank you so much! Yes, there is a white mode, I've learned that with most of the RGB boards you have the ability to change the hue and saturation of the colors and when you turn those all the way down you're left with something that is pretty much a white light although is still does have a little color. I mean, isn't white light all colors anyway?
