Why is the spacebar so clicky and loud? Is there a way to get it as quiet as the other keys?

It’s a large piece of plastic unlike the rest. It’s hollow underneath. It will always stand out. The thing is, when it’s implemented well (high quality thick plastic, good stabilizers, good amount of dielectric grease in them) the spacebar will sound organically with the rest of the keyboard. So while it still stands out it will not sound wrong and bad. From what I hear on this video, the spacebar is ok. If I were buying this keyboard I will probably only apply some more dielectric grease on the stabilizers (to avoid high-pitched ticking sounds) or outright replace them with relatively cheap TX AP (rev3 or 4) which are in my experience a much better option (I have modded my Keychron Q3).

This board is amazing! But the spacebar stabilizer losing hold of keycap on edges is absolute nightmare. It loses hold by half on original keycaps and some other keycaps too. Never had anything like that on other keyboards.

So sorry to hear that. Could you please kindly contact us at support@keychron.com with the video?

my favorite is the HE but this is awesome too. The feel, the quality and the sound of keychron is superior to anything I've tried including wooting. Even tho I couldn't care less about sound. I only care about how it feels and how it performance. If it was up to me I would make it 100% silent. It's not a music instrument people. Caring about thock is as weird as foot fetich.

Silent switches are often very mushy from my experience. No solid feeling when pressing the key. There are some exceptions like certain HMX switches but still they don’t feel perfect like regular switches. Besides, larger keys have stabilizers and unless you replace the stabilizers with something much better (Staebies 2.1 for example) you will hear a lot of unpleasant noise from these larger keys even if you use silent switches…the thing is, besides replacing the stabilizers you will also need to tune them, which involves using dielectric grease for the wire and a bit of 205g0 for housing. It requires certain experience and skill to apply properly. In the worst case the stabilizer’s wire also need to be balanced which is an even more sophisticated job. I mentioned Staebies because there require less effort in general but they’re also more expensive. Either way I disagree that keyboard should be silent “because it’s not a musical instrument”. It’s certainly not but it should have good tactile and acoustic feedback in order to actually improve your typing experience (gaming is different of course). It should not be fatiguing to your fingers and ears, and to people around you. So I would suggest that complete silent mechanical keyboards don’t worth the price and effort as instead a mild-sounding keyboard can be used with more satisfaction and for a much less effort and price overall.

@@VladK-1 I guess I wasn't as clear as I should've. Because any linear switch, magnetic or not wont make any sound as long as you don't hit the bottom. What I really meant was a silent keycap. Something that wont make a sound when you hit bottom. Q1 HE switches are as silent as can get.

Are these versions with additional manual noise reduction and lubrication, which can be ordered on the Russian website as an additional option or without?
@VladK-16 ай бұрын
Without, of course. The options of the manual modding by the RU vendor is done solely by RU workers there. Source: I bought my Q3 from them a year ago. I ordered without modding as I modded myself (and no, there is no need for some extra foams inside the case, it’s already perfect as is). Besides the Jupiter switches in the new Max line don’t really need lubrication, they’re decent already. If you wish to use the best switches there are plenty of other options. E.g. Morandi for Linears, Baby Kangaroo 2.0 for tactile, Gateron Melodic for clicky. They’re all well lubricated.
