Danny Rand, The Child Touched by Fire, The Guardian of the Gate, The Immortal Iron Fist, and the Sworn Protector of Kun Lun is one of the most skilled martial artists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and after rewatching the various Defenders series on Netflix, I had to clear the air and put some respect on The Living Weapon’s name
Almost everyone I’ve ever spoken to about The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Iron Fist has almost nothing good to say about him - He’s whiny, he’s weak, he’s not even the most skilled fighter in the Defenders, let alone the MCU, yadda yadda yadda. Well, I’m here to prove everyone wrong and show that Danny Rand IS worthy of the Immortal Iron Fist title and is one of the baddest dudes around.
As with all of our MCU power scaling videos, we will only be discussing feats and statements for the character we see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so that means no comics, video games, animated movies, or anything that isn’t canon to the MCU

@Bzake DareDevil was by far the best. Luke Cage wasn't bad either. The problem with Iron Fist is the way the show was written, he was whiny, and it was a slow start to get the show running, season 2 was better, but Colleen Wing stole that show....she was awesome. Punisher was good season 1, ok in season 2. Jessica Jones , Season 1 was good. Season 2 was watchable.

Danny got a shafted hardcore and his actor too. People complain about the actor not being dedicated to the role, but they were filming 16 hours a day, 6 days a week. He got the choreography for each fight 15 minutes before shooting. Dude did what he could, despite this schedule he still spent sundays in gym and on training fighting and even found a genuine shaolin monk to train him, but he just never got the time to prepare and execute the role properly.

Potential. Plain and simple. I believe that the reason that Iron Fist falls flat is entirely based on the fact that the best we got out of him in the show was just tiny bits of his potential. Knowing what a bad ass he is going into the show and getting... Whatever the hell we got, was a gut wrenching disappointment. I'd agree with your assessment if he actually maintained the performance for any meaningful amount of time, but he absolutely didn't.

Good video but I'm pretty sure the best fighters in the Hand meant Madame Gao's best fighters. Danny had no idea that there were four more sects of the Hand when he made that statement. So it really doesn't say much about Nobu compared to them. Also when the main cast where asked who was the most powerful Defender, Charlie Cox said that Daredevil is definitely the weakest to which Kristen Ritter replies, "but he's the most skilled". So Matt at the time of the Defenders is more skiled than Danny. Also thought that you'd go into context of his more lowballed fights like the hospital fight where he got snuck by Ward's hitman with brass knuckles.

I think part of the problem is the choppy editing during the fight scenes in iron fist. It's clear the actor isn't a martial artist and they can't hide the stunt man like in iron man so everything is so cut up it's hard to follow the fights a lot of the time. Combine that with him constantly crying and reminding everyone "I AM THE IMMORTAL IRON FIST" he come across as a poser.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm glad there are other people out there who appreciate Danny Rand. His fight with Daredevil in Defenders really bothered me. Not just because Danny should have realistically gotten more hits on Matt but also because it shouldn't have even happened in the first place. Matt knows Stick better than any of them. He should have known that he was manipulating them into restraining Danny so it would be easier for him to kill him later. Anyway, Danny and Matt are truly two of the best hand to hand fighters of the MCU, it's really sad the shows got cancelled.

Context: Danny got sucker punched in the back of the head with brass knuckles when he wasn't expecting a fight as he was looking for his medical records and thought that the guy worked there. Most people would be KO'd if that happened to them and yet Danny was still winning the fight despite being injured.

Here's my thing: a good fighter can fight skillfully DESPITE being angry, or can put it aside during the fight. So to say he only lost those fights because he got emotional IS saying he was a bad fighter during those fights. Really it shows his teachers were ass for not addressing his tendency to fly off the handle at every provocation. I'm not saying he wasn't in an incredibly stressing situation, he was, but his responses were almost childlike in their lack of self control. That being said, still enjoyed this video. Good case made. Esp when emotions/mindset are such huge factors in Kung Fu. I think one reason the show suffered is because they focused a little too much on that. It took him too long to get over it and he came off a little whiney or childish for too long. I still really liked it and I think he's definitely among the very top Marvel fighters.

Of course I would love to see Jessica Jones. I feel like Iron fist she’s really underrated and undermined due to one PIS showing (Getting hit twice by Robyn’s 2x4 while she was sleep deprived 24+ hours) & because she holds back by a lot(Which makes people think she’s a bad fighter when in reality she’s not) Hell she eventually was able to fight Hand Ninjas who were able to give Ironfist & Daredevil trouble. Even in her fight against Murakami it’s hard to judge because you have one person who is holding back(Jessica) and the other trying to kill her(Murakami). It’s so easy for her to kill but that’s not Jessica.

To say that Obi-Wan is less skilled than Anakin is pretty inaccurate. Anakin was a lot stronger than Obi-Wan, but Obi-Wan was one of, if not the best user of his form of lightsaber combat, and his preferred form was the defensive form. When used by Obi-Wan he is almost completely impervious to attacks from sabers or blasters

This is the best analysis on Iron Fist I've seen so far. Everytime I saw a review of the character, they would always say "oh he's too weak he's supposed to be the best martial artist in the world, why is he losing to every villian everytime?" And I always wondered if they watched a different show, because it was so obvious to me what they were doing with the character. The same thing Zack Snyder did with Superman, you got an over powered character? Give him emotional battles, moral battles, make them fight himself, his own identity. When Dany fights Davos, it's like Kal'El fighting Zod and the last hope of Krypton. Dany's biggest enemy is himself, every teacher he had told him the same. Besides, he never finished the training, he had all the responsability of the Iron Fist but without the skills or training to use them. The power of the dragon is not just to punch stuff really hard, it has many uses and is what makes someone The Iron Fist. I loved that you felt like you had to make justice to this character even years before people already forgot about him. Personally, he's my favorite character, he's conflicted and constantly challenged morally. He's expected to do whatever it takes to protect K'un Lun, to be a living weapon, nothing else. But he wants to do more, he wants to protect the whole world, not just defend himself from the Hand but to destroy once and for all. He wants to help his community and have a normal life. PD: I liked the editing in this video, specially Obi-Wan bonking Anakin lmao

I think it would be unfair to put Iron Fist's martial arts abillities against Captain America's (or any other super soldiers') since the super soldier serum gave Steve enhanced sense, reaction speed, strengh and stamina. There are other characters who have "minor" powers that help them be good fighters like Daredevil, Stick Pointdexter, Trish Walker, Taskmaster, etc but i think Danny could at least hold his own against all of them in a fight even without the power of the iron fist, but super soldiers are too op Although as an ideia for a video ypu could try to rank the top 20/25 fighters in the mcu after the shang chi movie is out, including people with power like the ones i mentioned above, including super soldiers

Allow the immortal one to weigh-in. This is been the most comprehensive breakdown of iron fences capabilities since I wrote my college paper on it as part of my midterms I do not believe that if Iron Fist was not holding back the Captain America actually beat him. Most writers will give it to Captain America because he's cap and because of the super soldier serum. Cap has never been shown strong enough to knock out Luke Cage with a punch Iron Fist has knock Luke Cage out on the show and in the comic with one punch keep putting out good stuff like this dude you now have a new subscriber as someone who have met a few people in my life from the comic industry I'm an artist myself I love when people really love to care to enough to do analysis fairly on these characters. I just rewatched the first couple of Defenders episodes. I think you make a good case that Danny has the potential to be the strongest defender... although potential and the ability to regularly realize that are two different things. And it's unclear whether his abilities would really be able to stand up to Thor or Hulk, for example... either of whom my not be as skilled but have huge advantages in strength and toughness. But the real problem with Iron First is that the writing sucks. You can see this in Defenders, as all the other defenders get key moments that clearly display their abilities. Daredevil gets a scene winning a court case and talking to newly disabled kids about life with disabilities, and a scene hearing all the cries for help in the city and being compelled to act. Jessica Jones has lots of day drinking, pulling a car of a tow truck, and taking a detective case only when someone threatens her if she does. Luke walks out of jail, casually breaking his coughs to show that jail was a choice for him, gets the respect of his neighborhood, and looks out for people there. Iron First fights some shadowy ninjas while Wing says they might have Allies, has a vision of dead monks, lays on the ground listening to music to "refocus himself" and occasionally punches someone with a glowing fist. The writers clearly don't know who he is, so the writing sucks. He could be the most powerful fighter in the MCU and know one would give a &@*# because he is by far the least coherent character in the MCU. Even Captain Marvel, who literally has no story arc beyond "I was perfect all along" is clearly about something: about how women are already perfect and need no character development. I mean, it's not a great story, but it is at least clear. Iron first doesn't even get that. He was trained to be the ultimate defender, but walked away because he wasn't feeling it. I don't think that's ever clarified. Later he feels guilt that people died because of his decision... but because it's not really clear what he was looking for in the first place there's no real motivation or conflict to speak of. Just regret. To be honest, the series Iron First would have been better if they cut out Iron Fist. Colleen Wing, Misty Knight, and each member of the Meachum tribe all have clearer identities, motivations, and challenges.

I actually really liked Iron Fist, I just didn't like the actor in the first season. The cerography seemed weak for a guy that has trained for a decade. The defenders was a different story, I liked the actor, the character, and the abilities, and his interaction with the other characters. I was sad there was not a second season of defenders, let a lone a third season of Iron fist. Ok, the fight between Murdoch and Rand. Mat has been training for just as long as Danny. There combat skills I would say are roughly the same. Giving the slight edge to Danny. However, DareDevel has stated that he can also focus his chi to heal faster and fight better, then normal peeps. (note: his chi level is NO WHERE NEAR Danny's). Secondly, One of the major reasons why DareDevil does so well, is because his super senses, give him a reaction time that is far greater then a normal persons. He may not be a ble to see, but he can literally feel the vibrations in the air when someone moves, hear a mile away, smells someone from several floors down. These enhanced sense give him a reaction time that is much better than most. Good video.

I've asked this under the original video but couldn't read the answer, so I'll try again because I find it interesting. Could Netflix Iron Fist, Daredevil or perhaps Luke Cage defeat someone like MCU Captain America? Considering how skilled fighters they are. I don't quite get why they are called street level heroes, while I don't see any reason they couldn't defeat members of the Avengers, such as Hawkeye, Black Widow, Falcon or Guardians.

Captain America, based in feats, is actually stronger and more durable than Luke Cage. He’d beat all 3 of them by himself, probably.

Loved the video. Although I felt Iron Fist on Netflix and Defenders was very entertaining, Danny Rand was absolute trash. Daredevil was the best fighter followed by Elektra. I feel Danny should have been the best.
